Something To Hope For The Next 2 Months

Not sure if any or all of this has been mentioned in past threads, but even if it has been, it's still good to have it as a reminder among the "hit" that all of Sox fans have taken during this latest skid. It's obvious that we are all very concerned about Detroit, Minny, as well as ourselves. Not too many teams have gone wire to wire without some sort of decline during the season. The last one was Seattle when they won 116 games. With Kenny Rogers lately seldom having a full successful season and prone to injury issues, and Verlander never having gone over 130 innings before, chances are they won't go wire to wire without a skid of some sort. August will really test their staff and their durability and may even be an emotional drainage wear-down time for them as they face a boatload of sluggers. 6 Cleveland, 7 Sox, 4 Tex, 3 NYY, 3 Bos, 3 Twins 3 TB. Add that with the most humid month of the year and it's not a great combo for them. Just remember, everyone thought that we were invincible last year and had no chance at being caught......and then September came! After a grueling August for Detroit, could this years September be for them what last years was for us? Also, concerning Minny......There is no way that they are going to make another 31 and 6 run.(Or whatever the heck it was). It's not going to happen. You only have 2 dynamic pitchers (Santana and Liriano...... and occasionally Radke). THAT TEAM WILL LOSE SOME GAMES!!!! I know that we have struggled immensely, but not only does our team have exceptional talent, but they have a lot of character, and there are no egotistical "hotdogs" on our club. WE WILL GO ON A NICE RUN! With the quality players and character that we have, it's pretty impossible that a BIG RUN won't happen. Plus.....we are due. I still say "The Steam Engines will be on all cylinders kicking a ton of behind once we get past this stretch, and once we start kicking, IT"S NOT GOING TO STOP! I'm as down and rather depressed about what is happenenig now, just as much as most of you, but what keeps me going, is I know what this club is made of, and who we have that is running the show! GO SOX!!!!

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Looks like a fair amount of "replacement parts" on Mamie. If she ever went out on a date, the guy may as well just go out with her dresser drawers instead of her, because that's where most of her is probably stored in at bedtime anyway.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) As for the film visually, I am going to go out on a limb and say that the special effects were the most realistic of any film I have seen. The scale that this film was on was truly massive, and it was pulled off perfectly. Not only are the destructive scenes great, but the calming love story of Superman/Lane was pulled off very well. And you cannot ignore the homage to Superman I and II. This truly did seem like a continuation of that series. I loved it, and think it may actually have been better than Batman Begins. Looking forward to it. Going to take a ride to Woodridge tomorrow and see it on the huge 3D IMAX screen.

Who won the world series the year you were born?
Rooftop Shots replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in The Diamond Club
Dodgers over our White Sox. Maybe we didn't win, but being born on a pennant year makes for a GREAT foundation for a lifetime die-hard Sox fan. Thanks mom and dad. -
QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Where did you host it? It's something that I just found on the net, and saved it im my file. I recently put it in Image Shack. But as previously stated, my original Sig Pic of The Old Comiskey was way too big for Soxtalks guidelines. I forgot who did it and how, but someone previously from Soxtalk cropped it down for me. Then for whatever reason, after having up on my postings for well over a year, it was gone. Would you like me to e-mail you the pic?

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) What's up soxtalkers? I recently got a new job three weeks ago, and I have yet to go to a game straight from work. Tomorrow, that changes. I need to know what you guys think would be the better route leaving Mount Prospect between 4 and 4:30. Should I take 294 S 90 E exit 55A (35th) OR 294 S 55 N 94 E i know 90 takes me by O'Hare, but its the more direct route. I'm used to coming from the Naperville area, but obviously don't have a choice tomorrow. Thanks for the help. Maybe someone else may have a better idea, but if you take the second route that you listed, forget about 94E. You could take 55N to DAMEN Ave. Getting off at Damen ave, you will go about 2-3 blocks south to 35th street. Go east on 35th for....approx 2 miles or so. You'll see parking everywhere. If you get there early enough, you can take 35th street east to Wentworth Ave, go South on Wentworth for 1 1/2 blocks until you see some black iron gates on your right hand side that lead into "Progressive Baptist Church". Park in there (Unless it's Sunday), and you'll be directly in back of Right Field.

Was wondering if anyone could tell me as to why my sig pic of old comiskey is no longer there. I recently made a posting and noticed that the pic was gone and a small box with an "X" inside of it was there instead with the words "User Posting Image." A while back I had the photo cropped down to size to meet the forum standards. Do I need to re-do my photo, or find another one? Thanks!

QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) I'm going with the value pick here... "MILLLLLERRRRRRRRR LIGGGGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT" I know the guy that your talking about. I call him the friggin' "DINOSAUR" cause that's what he sounds like when the word "LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGHHHT" comes out of him. Anybody know of the short african-american guy,...... that unless you look at what he is selling, you wouldn't have a clue otherwise. He's usually in the lowers on the 3rd base side selling "Rag-Yags!!!" Believe it or not ........."Rag-Yags" are supposed to be.........."Cracker-Jacks!!!"

I can't remember if it was at Soxfest or I read it somewhere, but I do remember KW talking about his future 2 and 3 year player board (2007,08,09), that he has with players names on it, anf he said that it was very difficult to take Youngs name off of it when the trade was made. He pretty much said that he was a future all-star player that he hate to let go.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 22, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) Actually, I've already throat punched the multi-tasking guy so all is good. Hey! How did you get ahead of me in doing so? I thought that I had dibs on that! Oh well, maybe I'll have to be creative and buy a pair of the old pointed "Beatles Boots" and give that guy a nice swift shot in the crotch. Let's see him repeat that stupid laugh after that! Man...........that guy is irritating.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 24, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Alright, Tom sent me his pics from Frank's return game. And here they are. Once again, thanks for sharing these! Thanks alot Greasy! If you still have my e-mail address, and if you want to let me know what you did, step by step, I'd appreciate it. As I'm writing this, I see all of the URL's are that you posted up.They're the same ones that I tried. Can't figure out how you got them all to work. When I tried, my posting came up empty with this icon that said " Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed" Either way, thanks for your patience and help.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Just to verify...nothing else needs to be deleted, correct rooftop. Just want to make sure since the last thing I want is for personal info to be spread via the site on a accident. Yeah, Thanks. Everythings cool. Sorry for the craziness. Greasywheels pm'ed me and let me know that everything's OK.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 24, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) The Sox don't "buy back" tickets.. The tickets spread out from 129 to 135 are friends and family tickets that are reserved for the Sox and the visiting team and if they aren't used then they are released for sale to the public. Thanks Steff for clearing that up for me. I guess the person that told me about this a few years back either misquoted me, or wasn't sure himself how it worked as well. Also thanks for letting me know the section numbers on this as well. I wasn't real clear on that either.

QUOTE(Beltin @ May 24, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) I have heard this tip before as well. How much earlier than game time does the box office open, anyway? I will need to try this sometime. I think it opens up at either 9 or 10 a.m. Have to call the boxoffice to find out. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ May 24, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try when my parents visit in June; I wanna impress them. How much are the VIP tix? Not sure, but I believe that they are a few bucks more than a lower deck box ticket that is scheduled for that game. Remember...the more premium the game, the more the ticket, and harder to come by. That's why I suggest getting there and waiting for the box office to open early in the morning if you want to better your chances.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) Sure. I'll PM you my email addy. I just hope that someday in the future that I can learn to do this on my own without driving you guys nuts anymore.

originally, I wanted to post the photos in 2006 White Sox Photos forums. I saw how Felix had the thumbnail pictures so you can see the photo that you are clicking on, instead of just the URL, and then when clicking on them it gave you a full size image. That's what got me started on this whole thing. Sorry for the hassel. If it makes it any easier to figure out, would you like me to e-mail the full sized pictures to either one of you?
-
Hey Guys! Sorry for all the hassels. I had quite a few issues around here that have been insanely intense, and have been up almost 3 days without much sleep. The document folder stuff that I "PM"ed about was my own friggin' toolbar that has access to them. It doesn't show up for everybody else when they click on one of the URL. I really apologize for the PM's. It's amazing how strange and off kiltered the mind works when it's under a lot of strain, and little/no sleep to help recharge its battery. As far as the thumbnails go, don't worry about it. For whatever reason, it's something that I just don't get, and it's not working out. I've already caused some of you some unnecessary anxieties, and don't want to add to that. Everyone has a lot of issues to deal with in life, and I don't want to add anymore of them to you guys. I want to continue to see this board being enjoyable for everyone, and it only puts more pressure on you guys when you have more issues that come up that you have to deal with that are unnecessary to begin with. All of you do a great job, and I as well as everyone else ....do appreciate your dedication to this sight. I'll keep posting my 2 cents in on other topics, but as far as the photo stuff goes, I'll probably test here and there and see if I can figure things out now and then, but you won't have to worry about "The Panic Button" from me anymore. Thank You!!!! Rooftop

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ May 24, 2006 -> 10:01 AM) not sold out. But its hard to get any good seats for any games in june. Its seem like every team is divison rival or the cardnials and Astros. There is a way, but it's a little chancey. VIP tickets, (the ones that are behind home plate in between both dugouts) are also the ones that brokers sell.Whatever the brokers don't sell, go back to US Cellular. They are in fact able to sell those at the box office ONLY on the day on which the game is played on. The Cell, then has to sell them at face value. The chancey part is, be at the box office early.....as soon as it opens up, Ask for best of.....for todays game, and if any VIP tickets are available. On Franks Monday return game, that's how I got my ticket. along with others that I talked to that were in my row. I was fortunate to be in Sec 133 Row 25 (BEHIND Home Plqate). Granted, they are not always available, but it has worked for me 3 times in the last few years. Mondays game had 39,000 plus in attendance, and was sold out when trying to get tickets on line or over the phone........but yet......the box office still had the VIP's! I wanted to post a few photos in another forum from where I sat, but the day that my computer/photo imaging skills ever get to the point where I don't drive all the admins nuts, is the day that Paul Konerko and Cecil Fielder outruns Scott Podsednik and Carl Crawford and in a relay race. If your reading this guys......sorry for all of the hassels. Don't mean to be a pain.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) hey rooftop - saw your pm - it looks like you got it taken care of? Not sure. When I click onto one of the URL links that are on the posting, a toolbar shows up above that will give access to all all of my favorites, document folders. etc QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) They look good, but if you ever have the time could you try uploading them again, so we could see the full-sized versions? Copy and paste the link that I have highlighted in this pic below: This is what came up Sorry, dynamic pages in the

I guess I'm not too good at this stuff. Got some nice photos from Mondays game. Had some help to get to image shack, uploaded and hosted my pictures but when I went to link thumbnails to the forum, I received an error that dynamic images cannot be displayed. Still not sure how to get thumbnails on here. I received 2 choices in 2 different boxes at image shack to choose from that had the url's in them. Tried them both. On each one I received the same error message on the upper left on the Soxtalk posting page.

Anyone At The Game Get Their Pics Taken?
Rooftop Shots replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 23, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) I do believe 4 is the most realistic choice. Ouch.....It seems to be getting a little cold in here. Are you sure about being #4? The homtown said Alaska and Chicago. I didn;t see San Francisco anywhere on there. -
Anyone At The Game Get Their Pics Taken?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 23, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) I bought an 8x10 of you. Your reply can be taken 4 different ways. 1) it was meant to be sarcastic in a nice humerous way, 2) It was meant to be posted in green lettering, 3) You are a female and really did buy one, 4) You are not a female and I'm here to let you know that I'm not the "Brokeback Mountain" type. -
Was at the game yesterday, and I didn't know that at every game that a photographer at the cell walks around and takes your pic to put on the Sox websight. ("Fan Forum"....Scroll to "Fan Photos" choose date at which game you were at, and what gallery you are under. In a previous forum, when someone asked to submit photos of fellow Soxtalkers, I never submitted one. Not that it really matters, but "Rooftop Shots" is in May 22 gallery 21, the guy with the sweatshirt of an airbrushed Frank Thomas portrait. Back in Frank's hey-days, I used to have my own part-time airbrush business. Made quite a few Franks and Michael Jordans back then. Anyoner else from Soxtalk on The Sox Websight. If so, what date and gallery are you in?

Maybe should he hang up his career in baseball and get a job that lives up to his name. You know, like maybe work for a log splitting company. That way when homeowners need more logs to keep their fire places heated up, they can call the washed-up has-been pitcher from the Cubs, and he came make the delivery that the homeowner requested. That way......he can then go ahead and "CARRY WOOD!!!!" I mean, sheesh! This guys unbelievable. You hit the guy with a bag of marshmallows, and he's constantly sidelined, and makes more money than all of us on this board put together. Maybe another slogan that his agent can come up with for his next contract should be......"Hi! If you looking for a pitcher that will find a way to sign a fat contract, and then sit on his rear end, never play, and still collect his money, do you know who is able to accomplish this task? The answer....."Kerry WOULD!!!!!!!"
