  1. A Thought came to my mind, but I'm not sure of the accuracy of my statement. I'm wondering if the Scrubbies wold make a serious dash for this guy now that they have Piniella. Here's where I'm a little foggy..........Was Piniella with The Mariners when they landed Ichiro, and their past stud closer Sasaki? If so, he seems to have a thing for Asian studs. If not, it still would make sense for him to want Matzu! 1) They need serious starting pitching badly, and 2) What would be better than to bring in a new stud that NOBODY has seen or faced before (especially with quite a few of St Louis pitchers up for F.A? After all the garbage he went through with the Tampa Bay organization of never bringing in winning talent, Piniella is pretty adamant on wanting to bring in some high-profile players,(or he would not have signed in the first place) and the Cubbies purse seems to be pretty open. Put the pieces together, and It all kind of makes sense. On a different note....ALL OF THIS STUFF could help us out because with all the attention being on the north side right now, it kind of puts an extra tug on KW and JR to keep our team as best as can be even if it means stretching the payroll a little bit. We finally have a great fan base, and I'm sure they want to keep it that way. Thoughts?
  2. To one of the guys on this board that really made me feel welcome when I first came on board Soxtalk a couple of years back(When your alias was "Jeremy Reed Fan") ...........................Happy B-Day Big Guy!
  3. Thanks for all the inputs! I'll periodically look back to see what happens via trades/drafts etc.
  4. Hi! I'm not real familiar with a lot of our farm system and all that we have to offer, and I was wondering if we have any REAL credible Shortstop or Second basemen in the wings. I hear about pitchers, 3rd base Fields, 1st base Rogowski, Outfielders Owens, Sweeney, Catcher Stewart. What does our middle infield hold? Never hear anything about it! Thanks!!

    eBay

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble. I've bought well over 200 items on e-bay, but mostly ones that are not "Big Ticket" items. When I did buy a big ticket iem (A $500.00 Bass Guitar Amp), it was from someone that had an EXTENSIVE FLAWLESS positive feedback. I read every feedback on him and ALL the positives were VERY HIGH. Even then, things can still go haywire, but it gives me a little more confidence. ANYTIME I felt a RED FLAG come up, whether in reading a feedback, or just that old fashioned "Gut Feeling", and it made me hesitate to bid.....I didn't. The anxiety level would always haunt me until the item came. I overrode the red flag a few times out of 225 items, and I got burned on 2 of them. Fortunately they were only low ticket items worth a few bucks each. I hope all goes well in your situation. By the way, in the last few weeks there has been spoof PAYPAL e-mail being sent around recently stating that you must "Reactivate" your account. It asks for S.S. # and bank account with pin # and credit card #. S.S. #????? Pin #?????? (Red Flags!!!) I called PAYPAL! It was SPOOF!

  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Sweet picture! Thanks! I was EXTREMELY fortunate that day. I went to The Cell at 10:00 am May 22 to see if there were any tickets that day. I heard people walk away saying SOLD OUT!. I gave it a gamble to see if MAYBE there was ONE ticket somewhere. The lady in the booth said that there was ONE.... 25 rows behind home plate . I almost FLIPPED. Half price night too!. GREAT DAY! GREAT MEMORY!
  11. One of My Favorites. This picture that I took says it all when I was at Franks return May 22.
  12. I wasn't at either game, but the 2 that stick in my mind is The World Series banners being unveiled, and the other was the guys with the tuxes coming from center field with the rings on silver platters.
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) I'd prefer a girl with "curves" over someone at risk of having a gentle breeze blow them into the atmosphere. One reason why todays fashion models can become rich so fast is because they NEVER have to spend any money on food!! A normal person may have ham and eggs for breakfast, but if you ask a fashion model if she would like some breakfast, her reply would be "No thank you!, I'm still full from the 2 corn flakes that I ate 3 days ago."
  14. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Garcia has been our best pitcher the second half... if anyone needs to go its Buehrle or Vasquez... in that order. Yeah....as long as no one reaches 1st base. The last stat posted on tv, on the last day that he pitched showed that 38 out of the last 40 runners stole second base off of him. A single or a walk turns into an automatic double with him. Unless he can come up with something to put an end to that, KW will see that as unexceptable........and in my opinion is one primary reason that if a pitcher goes, that it will be Garcia. Any GM can deal with hits, and occasional walks, but "freebies in scoring position" because the pitcher cannot hold on runners..............................just asking for too much trouble too often.
  15. Maybe it makes no sense in posting this, but haven't slept well tonight and had to write this to get it off my mind. Mind has been buzzing a lot in anticipation. Here's what's up. Never been anywhere before (as far as travels go). Never been on a plane before. Going on my first flight today to see an old friend that I grew up with. His friend gave him tickets for Monday and Tuesdays games against Boston. He told me that the seats for Tuesdays Boston game is a few rows behind the White Sox dugout. Mondays game seats are somewhere behind home plate about 25 rows up. Weather report.......so far......rain. 1st plane ride....Seeing an old friend....He lives right by the ocean nearby in another state........Fenway Park visit........Sox dugout seats.....Ernesto rain coming in.........SSHHHEEEEESH! How the heck am I supposed to sleep? A lot of times White Sox cameramen will show out of state Sox fans in the stands. If it doesn't rain, Tuesday, I'll be the guy with a white sweatshirt with about 50 different White Sox baseball cards scanned on it. Otherwise, I'll be all in black. Won't be back at my computer till Wednesday. Take care guys! Will update when I get back.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) 1. Sweeney's OBP this year in AAA is .350. His career OBP in the minors is .352. His high is in the .380s. 2. 3. That I can't answer 4. His numbers suggest he's a step slower than Pods (post-injury pods). He can steal a base, but not well. 5. You don't bat Ryan Sweeney leadoff for stolen bases. 6. Currently, he is hitting .296 with 25 doubles and 12 home runs in a hitters park in AAA. He's still very young, but he has a very sweet swing. He would at his best be an ideal #3 hitter, high average, home runs in the 20's-30's if everything develops as we hope power-wise. Right now, he's probably a decent average, lots of doubles hitter. I'd guess a healthy BObby Crosby might be a best-case comparison for where he is now, a worst-case comparison I dunno, maybe a Scott Podsednik. 7. 73 strikeouts in 450 at bats this year for Sweeney. 88 in 460 at bats for Podsednik. And a majority of the starts against righties. Including 4 of the recent 7 games against the Tigers and Twins. Thank You! It gives me somethings to look for if/when he ever plays regularly in the future.
  17. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) The "ex-Cubs" factor is all a bunch of crap. There's no such thing. Look at the Marlins: They're making a run for the wild card w/ 5 ex-Cubs on the pitching staff, and a manager who used to play for the Cubs. In a sense I agree, but it just makes it a little more fun to think and hope that something that has to do with The Cubs could ruin something for someone. It just makes for a little more fun conversation with Sox fan friends who start getting in their negativity mode when we lose a game.
  18. I was wondering if someoe who has seen Sweeney play, or read some scouting reports could give me some specifics on him. Such as.......... 1) What is his on base percentage? 2) Is he patient at the plate and good at fighting off pitches and taking walks? 3) Is he quick out of the box? 4) How is his speed compared to Pods? 5) When stealing bases, is he a "JOLT" from the get-go, or does it take him a while to get it going, because the frst step in stealing is probably the most important. 6) Is he more of a power hitter, or scrappy like some players on Minnesota ? 7) Does he strike out a lot, or is he more of a contact guy? I know it's a lot of questions, and would require a long reply, but obviously him and Fields look to be our future, so in reality, these questions that I pose, really pertain to both. Would appreciate any/all info that can be given on these guys whether they pertain to the above questions, or anything else you may wish to add. Anything can always happen differently in the Majors than what they did in AAA, but would just like to know what to look for in these guys, and be abe to pass along your input to some guys at work who have been asking many specifics on both of them. Thanks!!
  19. I in fact was hoping that the Twins and Tigers obtaining ex-Cub players would help us. If I remember correctly, last year we won it all WITHOUT having ANY ex-Cub players on our team. (Can't count Garland, because he never played in the majors while he was in the Cub organization). Well, I may be wrong, but this year also we have NO ex-Cub players on our team. Not sure if Detroit or Minny did either, but now that they officially do, doesn't that better our chances and give us more hope? Maybe we do have plyers that need some improvement, but we don't carry around any stains from someone who is officially named "the loveable losers" on our team. No Scrubbies, no stains, No reason to lose your lunch!!!! It's kind of amazing how many games each team has lost when they looked unloseable BEFORE THEY OBTAINED A CUB PLAYER!
  20. Glad to see that your visit went beyond your expectations and that you had a chance to visit The Cell. So much improvement was added to the park. I never get tired of going there. The only thing that I liked better at the Old Comiskey was witnessing those massive "Rooftop Shots" home runs, and when the fireworks went off, because of the upperdeck that wrapped around the park, the explosions would be INCREDIBLE THUNDERING and bounce off the walls, and the vibrations in your chest felt like it would explode. IT was great. Anyway, I lived here all my life and have loved every bit of it. Glad you and your family had a chance to experience it and had a wonderful time.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:23 AM) When geese fly in a "V" formation, there will always be one side of the "V" that is longer than the other. The reason for this is it has more geese. Wow! Thank you for enlightening me on this. For so many years I thought that the one side of the "V" was longer because the geese with the longer tails were instructed to stay together on one side by the "Head Goose!!" Thanks Tex! I'll defeinately sleep a lot better tonight. It gave me the reassurance that there are no "Cliques" is the goose family!
  22. 1) A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why. 2) If Barbie were life-size, her measurements would be 39-23-33. She would stand seven feet, two inches tall. 3) It's physically impossible for you to lick your elbow. And I'll bet you that EVERYONE who reads this will try it just once to see if they can.
  23. Can't even put into words of the sorrow for your loss my friend. We all love ya and are pulling and praying for you big guy. May God bring to you all the comfort that you seek and need during this tragic time. Sharing your grief, tears, love, and hugs with other family members are some of the best things that you can do at this time in your life. We all hope that all goes as smooth and as best as possible for you and your family in the upcoming days.
  24. After what happened in the past, I'm dying to get one someday soon. 3 years ago I went to a game, and my friend sitting next to me got a ball that richochetted off of a seat and came right to him. The next game I went to after that, I brought another friend in the same 2 seats, This time I sat in the seat that my previous friend sat in. You guessed it.............same thing happened but only on his side this time. Then I went to see SF at the Cell to try and get one from Bonds in BP. Bonds hit the diamond suites, in came down right into the hands of ANOTHER FRIEND that I brought to the game. Then Bonds hit another one out. I dived over a row of seats, put my hand on top of the ball, and before I could pick it up, a kid kicked it out of my hand. I yelled out the loudest F%@ that I ever did in my life. 3 games, 3 balls. The final score, Friends 3 Tom 0. Aye yuy yuy yuy yuy! What do I have to do to be in the right place at the right time?
