QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Lollar and Borchard. Could they pass for father and son with that wonderful "Hollywood Style" smile or what?

Thanks Guys. Today, I had an emotionally horrible day at work today. Needed a good laugh. This thread did me in good. The Contreras/Shrek one got to me. Hope to see more postings on this.

Rooftop Shots replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk

My liscense plates on both my cars now reads as follows SOX IAM 1 and SOXR GR 8. These are presents that I can enjoy everywhere that I go for the rest of my life and be proud to show everyone everywhere that I'M A SOX FAN AND PROUD OF IT!!!! -

I don't expect Detroit to be on top, but if all goes well for them, they can be a real pain in the neck. They have some players that are capable of having a great year (Maggs, Rodriguez Young, Guillen,Shelton, White). They have been hurting for pitchiing for a while. It was thought that Rodriguez was going to be the key to helping their young pitching staff flourish. So far it hasn't. Will Rogers help in the process of their youngsters? Not sure. All I know is.....Don't count them out. Anything could happen when individuals have good years and a team gels together. Look at us last year. We were picked 3rd or 4th in our division. One thing for sure..........3 years ago, nobody wanted to buy tickets to go see Central division games. UUMMMMMMM....I think that outlook has changed since then.

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Speaking of DJ, I hope the people in charge tell him to KEEP the "uh oh" call. It was so dorky off the get-go and then it became kind of like a cult classic. It seemed like he dropped it though. I'm wondering if there were some phone calls or e-mails made in ways of a complaint against it. The reason I mention it, is that did you notice that the last 3rd part of the season, that when DJ announced, it was mostly when the opposition was batting? Also I noticed that when He did announce when The Sox were up, that if a home run was hit, Hawk would immediately jump in ahead of DJ and yell "WAYYY BACKKK!!!"

Bob Nightengale: Sox Tell Phills They Want Thome
Rooftop Shots replied to Wealz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If this all goes through with PK and Thome, I guess that puts the big "Kabash" on any chance of keeping all of us Frank Thomas fans happy next year. Pk at first, plus Thome at DH equals a bye bye Frank. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. We go through all this speculation stuff every year, and then KW pulls some sort of unexpected rabbit out of his hat that no one even saw coming. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) What were you wanting? Mostly I have AP photos in the thread. A few Getty Images pics. Had a couple of good shots of Konerko and Buehrle. It was a while back and don't remember if it was from the Times, Trib, or Southtown. Anyway, if anything comes up that looks inviting, I'll check the board. If I don't see it, I'll give you a holler. One thing I wish that was in photograph POSTER form was the back cover of The Times Tuesday Oct 18. What a phenomenal graphics job on the 4 Sox pictures made into Mt Soxmore. Since it's not in poster form, I'll probably just get it laminated and framed.

QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Like... this? This probably won't make sense to you, but I was in a heavy hitter bowling league a few years back, and when this one anchor man would throw a double to win a game, he got wired as heck and he always yelled out his own slogan. For the help that you gave me, I'll shoot it at ya..."Who yeah, Do Yeah, Do Yeah , Who Yeah, We Got em' Now!!!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!" In short.... Thanks a ton knightni. The old Comiskey pic is a constant reminder to me of where my Sox roots got started. and the great times that were spent there with my dad before he passed away.I was born in 1959, and I have been a die-hard Sox fan even BEFORE conception!!! Thanks Again!! Have a good one!

QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) A little large... dontcha think? Agreed! But as stated earlier, somebody previously on the board was able to crop it down to fit the new regulation guidelines. I just forgot who it was! Maybe when others see this, that they can direct me to who can format it to meet the soxtalk sizing regulations!

I guess since no one really gave me the info on the "How-To" part, that it's either a little trade secret, or an "Under-the-table" no-no that cannot be posted! In laymans terms....."Am I in the right ballpark?" Any hints on how I can learn, whether through an e-mail, or what I can possibly ask a "techy" where I live? If not, it's cool! Don't want to have a Sox family member catch any unnecessary static from people in higher places. Until I do learn, If I see a pic in the paper that interests me in the future, I'll put in a request for it. Thanks anyway guys!!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Do you have the picture saved on your computer? If so, just rehost it and put the rehosted URL in your signature. Thanks! I found it again on the google images sight! Only problem is that last time I had this picture that was this size, I received an e-mail from Soxtalk that either I had to remove it or crop it to size in order for it to fit the standards that was set for the sig pics. I forgot who cropped it to size for me. If you how to do it, be my guest. If not, can you direct me to someone who can? Thanks! If needed, the following is the new URL
-
Wierd. I went to my edit sig box, highlighted and copied my URL to paste here. I pasted it, and the URL didn't come up. Only the same User posted image box again.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) What's the URL of the pic in your sig?
-
I posted this because I'm rather puzzled. I read the board a lot but don't post very often. I went to go post a new topic "The Go WhiteSox Banner" at Wrigley Field. and when I posted it, I noticed that my sig pic was gone. Instead, a box came up with a heading "User Posted Image." I went to "My Controls" and all of the settings were the same, but yet my image of "The Old Comiskey Park no longer shows up. What happened??
-
A friend at work said that he heard on the radio that there is posted ON Wrigley field a huge banner that says "GO White Sox!!" Did anyone see it? If so, any chance of someone getting a picture of it and posting it here? That is something we will NEVER see in our lifetime again. Can't let a classic like that get away unnoticed.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Every Sox pic you ever wanted from this season is in here. The later in the thread, the later in the year it is. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31950 Thanks for the reply and link. But also for a learning process, any help on the how-to's of the rest of my previous posting from getting the images from the paper to the computer if the pictures are not even listed on the newspapers sight in the first place??
-
Not real swift on much computer graphic stuff, but was wondering how to do the following. Every so often I see a picture in the paper that I wish I had a copy of , or wanted to download. Here's the issue. If there is a particular Sox picture that I see in the paper (say...Sun-times... for example). I'l go to the Suntimes sport section sight, but it only shows the text that is in the article, and not the picture that is with it in the actual newspaper. But yet, the next day, I'll see someone post a clear picture in a thread that is the same picture that I saw in the paper the previous day. 1) How do you get the picture if it's not on the newspapers websight, so as to be able to be able to download/print a copy of it? Thanks!!!

Going Tuesday! Bought tickets 6 weeks ago also. Thought we would not crinch, but were a cinch to clinch, and not flinch in the pinch which is turning us all into The Grinch! For probably my most ridiculous post ever...."Would prefer not to be linched"

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) Oakland has better pitching than the Angels. But I would rather face Oakland. They cant hit, and the Angels can. The angels are probably the most dangerous team in the playoffs because of the sheer amount of ways they can beat you. I would rather face Boston/NY/Indians/Oakland before I would face the Angels. No question! The Angels scare the daylights out of me too! The only thing that I was kind of referring to is that we don't have that mental stigmatism in our heads with any other team but Oakland. We'll go into the Angels series having to play our absolutely toughest and non-mistake baseball. With Oakland, my concern is that everybody will have in their heads........"What's going to happen this time!!!" When the mental edge is lost, usually the physical follows.
-
A small blessing that I saw, was, that in a way, Cleveland helped us a little bit by putting Oakland a little farther back.I believe that when we're on, we can beat anybody, but it seems like even when we're on, something wierd always happen to us when we play Oakland. Our chances? If we're hot, I will feel confident no matter who we play in post season except Oakland. Even if we get hot, Oakland seems to have the upper edge that still weighs on us mentally. We Don't Need That Team In Post Seaon! Thanks Cleveland!!........ Thanks for helping us!! The fun for you is now officially OVER! STARTING TODAY....... IT"S TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( "DIVE!!!!!!!!"
