A friend at work told me to look this one up.

His 1960 card is even better

Somebody's got to tell Hawk to PLEASEnot take a lunch break when The Sox are up. Don't know if all of you heard it when DJ called Konerko's home run, but his home run call just doesn't cut it. That's the second time I heard him with his "UH-OH There It Is!!!" It was terrible!!!
-
I see that Ozzie is getting tired of Cotts also. One batter...walked him.....YANKED! Sorry Cotts fans, but so far he's shown that "Cotts-No Gots!!!"
-
Was good to see us steal one! Not sure how many we walked total, but it had to be close to the attendance amount.

The coolest gift? I received a candle with a Sox logo on it from my die-hard Cub fan uncle. With it was a note"Tom. in honor of your new team, here is a candle to represent them. " In honor of them, you light the candle before each game, and then as you watch that candle burn down and burn out by the end of the year,....you can watch your team do the same." (Why is that a cool gift???) Here's why!!!! It prompted me to get revenge! (And a SWEET ONE IT WAS!!!) I sent 2 packages in return. 1st one has 2 baseball cards. Ron Santo and Don Kessinger when they played with The Sox . Ron's caption to Don...."Gee Don, you're the smarter one out of us both!It only took you 11 years to figure out the right team to play for, It took me 13 years. " Don's reply, "Yeah, well someone has us both beat. "(I inserted a 1964 Cubs Lou Brock card in remeberance of what they traded away, and his caption was"Yeah guys,I got you both beat! It only took me 2 years and I got a World Series ring to prove it!)(with the St Louis Cards!!) My uncle opened up his second package. On E-bay, I found a 1969 New York Mets video highlights VHS. For those of you not too familiar with that year, The Cubs had an allstar starting infield and were in 1st place from day one until Sept 13 and "BLEW IT TO THE METS!!! If it wasn't for that candle gift, the sweet revenge never would have happened!

Sox @ Twinkies: 4/9/05 Game Thread
Rooftop Shots replied to Butter Parque's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Would love to see Garland win this in Minny for an early confidence builder. It will also add some extra drama to Sunday nights ESPN game of Buehrle vs. Santana. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) When you have a battery like AJ and MB, Ozzie could go Jerry Manuel and take a nap. Haven't seen that kind of combo since the Fisk/Hoyt days. 2 experienced guys really in sinc, and A.J.'s game calling to help others on the staff. Fisk was a master at that. Don't get me wrong, Hoyt,Burns,Dotson,Bannister were a great staff, but Fisk's experience and game calling were a HUGE part of their success. Let's hope that A.J. will do the same. Both had/have did their homework, and played with a great deal of intensity.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) I dont care if I get grilled for this. I think hawk is Great. Sox games would not be the same without him. He loves the team just as much as anyone on here and I would not want anyone else. HAWK IS THE BEST! Agreed! For those who disagree, remember that we once had Drysdale as our full time announcer. The guy was a great pitcher, but his excitability towards our home team white sox was like listening to a casket with arms and legs. Maybe Hawks sometimes has the extension lips out with certain praises, but his excitement when good things happen during a game are real.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) At least Ed has something intelligent to say. Just wish he would learn to lay off on the constant stories of what happened to him in certain situations. Sometimes a few pitches go by and he's still yakking on a story about himself that can sometimes go on longer than it should. Stay with the game at hand, tell what's going on, and repeat the score and situation at hand a little more often. The TV has a toolbar for reminders, or for when your just tuning in. Radio doesn't, so to leave you hanging for too long gets you antsy as to what's happening. Farmer is good, don't get me wrong, but he needs to lay off the "way too many"stories about himself and stay with the the game comentary that is going on now.

Frank releases advance copy of steroid testimony!
Rooftop Shots replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) On the Score 670, Lester Munson is reporting that one of the congressmen is going to go straight at the players about steroids. He will ask Sosa and McGwire if they were using performance-enhancing drugs during the homerun race of 1998 and how often they used them! I can't help but be curious as to mainly how Sosa wil answer. He's lied about so many things already (Cork, Cubs issues, etc). Heck, I looked at my old baseball cards of him, and when he started out, man, the guy was built and looked like a broom handle with arms and legs. With his over-inflated ego, I wonder if he'll somehow not ell the truth and find yet another way to weasel out from admitting guilt, without getting burned. -
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) Why didn't they make a second deck in the OF anymore? I miss those days I hear ya!! When the New Comiskey plans first came out, the outfield upper deck is the first thing that I looked for. Was bummed when none was in the workings. The Cell has a lot of great features, but some old classic venues are missing. Hey Yas.... must admit though, those old urinal troughs were pretty bad. Maybe the quote that should be used towards the guy that designed the new ones should be.... "Hey! "UR-IN-AL --right guy!!!"

A question came up and wasn't sure where to get an answer. Thought I'd throw it up on the board hoping that someone might have some info. Does anyone know how long Hawk, DJ, Rooney, Farmer, Each One are signed for, and what salary status is of each? Thanks!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) Magglio totally screwed up when he turned down the Sox offer. Now, he has to save face, so to speak. He's painting himself into a corner here. Magglio is going to have to swallow some pride and hope he doesn't choke on it. My reply to that!...Oh----eeeee----Ohhh Greeeeeedy----Oh

The apreciation that we were able to spot Mike Squires in him real early so we wouldn't have to go through all that again. Schoney always cries of wanting to be a starter, and the more he's in, the worse he became. Squires was the same way. Constantly crying that he didn't do well because he didn't get much playing time. Sox gave him a fair chance to prove his claim, and he became worse. We appreciate seeing the connection early, learned from the past, and then said Bye Bye!
