1. Hopefully, what will make Houston even better ithan expected is Clemens and Pettite. Mainly for 2 reasons. 1) They have only pitched inn the A.L. all their careers. NL batters are not as much familiar with tyhem as AL ones. 2) Since this is their first shot in the NL, wouldn't it mean more outs for them throwing against pitchers for once. Think of it! Estimated 3-4 times of pitchers at the plate, multiplied by 162 games. That's a heck of a lot more better chances for more outs!!! Not only that, but both of them have NEW LIFE being away from a pressurized Steinbrenner. Look for those 2 to have real good years.
2. Just wanted to be the first , and I'm sure I won't be the last to say "Welcome aboard Mikster!!!
3. I never knew that sliced bread was a greatest thing scenario! Thanks for the info Steff! I hope that Willie does GREAT this year when given the chance! Management comparing him to sliced bread doesn't sound like a whole lot! (Unless of course, it's 100% whole wheat!!)
4. Next time I'll check spelling so my messages will be a little more understandable!!! Rooftop Shots>>>>>
5. Hiya Dr. Reedmeister!!. I Too have a severe hatred for both clubs! Only one difference though! I don't want The north-side Camode-Snorklers to get Greggy-Boy because, I'm still listening to and dealing with last years garbage from the "El-Scrub-ola fans". And now that out "Mighty-Whiteees" haven't made any real big moves, I'm hearing it even more. For them to get Maddux, would not look forward to getting another ear-full 10 times over. At least in NY, he's a few hunder miles for Chi-Town, and not in any position to help sweeten the gloating from north-side feces-ville!
6. Heck! I don't care if he even goes to sign on a women's softball team! As long as it's not to Yuppie-ville. Don't need to listen to more of their slop!!!
7. Nice idea!! I can dig it!!!! Would definately have a fresh tape in the ol' VCR!!
8. Sorry to interrupt, but you forgot to multiply the irrational hatred part about 35 times over!!!
9. Ditto again my friend!!!! ANYTHING that will not help The North-side Camode-Snorklers is a bonus!! I'd like to se Georgey-Boy stack it up! Why? Because if he doesn't win it all with all the money he is putting out, it will be a real treat watching him go out of his friggin' mind!! I'd like to see it really stuck to him that he cannot buy a world series!
10. I put this on an earlier thread. Can't really go by last years stats too much. It was the first year that the electronic strike/ball avenue was put in place to test the umps accuracy. Maddux is a corner pitcher, up/&down. Naturally, not to make the umps look bad, the strike zone got squeezed on Maddux more than before. I saw quite a few games where he was bewildered at not getting calls that he normally would. When that happens, your motion and mechanics are not as loose and you'll tend to "throw" and not "pitch". Those are some reasons that his stats weren't up to par and why there were times he got"Rocked" more than normal. Put him in a place where there are no electronics that put pressure on the umps, and you'll see a lose Maddux of old!
11. One thing keep in mind! Our confince level from being able to hit them the past few years has to be pretty high. We rocked them quite a few times! I'll admit, our pitching is rather weak, but WE PROVED that no matter who they threw at us, that we could hit them!!! Keep in mind also, that we were able to play ball with a lot of the BIG boys. It's the 9 player casket-liners that we had problems against!!
12. Another welcome to you CSFF!! I'm still rather a rookie myself, but I've made it up all the way to where I can change the cleats and tie the shoes on some some of the Veterans on this forum!!! One guy has over 14000 posts. I'll catch up to him in a day or so. Anyway, one thing that I wrote on an earlier thread, I'll repeat again. I have ONE thing that helps me have a morsel of optimism this year amongst a disappointing off season for us, and the "Yuppieville" having a great one. I keep trying to think of how the roles were reversed this time last year. We had the powerhouse team expected to go to "THE BIG DANCE" and the North side Slops were coming off a horrible season without much hope. They had a blowout year, while we on the other hand decided to open up the casket and jumped right in. This year, we are in their last years spot, and they are in ours! Could the reverse rolls happen? I don't know!! But I have to have something to look forward to, and right now, that is what I cling to. Besides, if the Camode-snorklers take a dive, how much more will we enjoy that after all the garbage that is being fed to us now?
13. I agree! Even if there is a game that I'm at where it happens to be a real "Snoozer," when Frank comes to bat, some excitement builds up to see if he's going to "Unload" one, and bring new life into the fans, as well as the game. That guy really hits probably the hardest line drives I have ever seen anyone hit. He's fun and exciting to watch.
14. Reinsdorf does need some "REAL HEART" if he wants to win as much as he SAYS he does. Maybe Nancy could be the First White Sox "ORGAN DONOR"
15. Hey Metallisox! You may want to double check on that. Last year was my first year for the 7 game pkg, and the guy I talked to before I faxed my form in told me that I WOULD be guaranteed a lower deck box seat, but for only 1 of the Scrubs/ Sox games, but not 2 or 3. Whether this year it's different or not, I can't say for sure.
16. 1) Buehrle 17-19 2) Loaiza 17-18 3) 4) Garland 15-16 5) Shoe 11-12 I'm leaving #3 open. I'm still not convinced that someone won't fill that spot in a trade of some sort, either by the season opener, or shortly after. Probably wrong, but I just have this gut feeling!
17. I guess the negativity is always about the upper deck. Most long time Sox fans were spoiled by The Old Comiskey, and were hoping that The new park would be rather close in structure and proximity like the old one. The upper deck there was not as steep or nearly as far away fron the action. When it stretched out across/above the lower deck, you can still yell your brains out a "FEEL" being a part of the game. Also, the upper deck "surrounded" the park, and when there was excitement, it was "DEAFENING" with the crowds yells bouncing off the walls. The homerun fireworks explosions shook the heck out of your chest. I think that not only the steepness and height, but fans are still pretty unforgiving in some sense for the nostalgia that was lost, and not put into the new park.I'm all for modernization, but when it comes to the park, THR REAL ROOTS of Old Comiskey should have been in the plans. And heck.... who can forget looking forward to a Rooftop Shot? ?
18. Hya Reedman! Very Generous on your part!! So far, 2 people agreed with your list. Only one reason that I can't! You still have The Scrubbies TOO HIGH!! How low do they need to go??? My answer to that is..."Anybody out there got a Friggin' Shovel???
19. Due to time wise, I haven't read everyome's post on this thread, so if the upcoming statement has been addressed, please forgive me. I believe there is a good reason that Maddux got so lit up last year. Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't that the first year that Atlanta used the automated strike/ball system in order to test the umpires accuracy? Maddux is a corner location pitcher. To not make themselves look bad, don't you think that being the first time that the new system was used, that the umps rather "squeezed" the plate a little more than usual on Maddux? I've seen numerous times where Maddux was astounded at not getting a call strike that he had the previous 14 years. Of course that will tighten you up, and your release will be less effective. It will also cause you to "Steer" instead of "Pitch" (which is also something that Danny Wright cannot seem to conquer). Maddux is a smart pitcher.and due to not throwing rockets all his life, I believe that whoever gets him, if it's in a park without the electronic garbage, you'll see him loose and freewheeling and win 15+ games easily!
20. Hey! Call me an ambulance!!!! I'm having a coronary!!! It worked!! Now if I can only learn how to tie my shoes and watch TV at the same time I might get the Pullitzer Prize Award!! I know that my computer skills are rather brainless at times, but I assure you!!! I am and never will be a Cubs fan!! Anyway, Thanks Guys for all your help and hospitality!
21. OOps, forgot to close all tags last time!!
