Fangraphs: What's required for a Paul Konerko infield hit?
Rooftop Shots replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know that he has always looked like he is pulling a truck rounding the bases, but is there any video of the footage when Paulie hit the inside the park home run (April 11, 2000)? I remember the guys hanging over the dugout yelling like crazy as he rounded 3rd. -

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) if you are able to boot into safe mode with networking, download and run Malwarebytes. Works almost everytime for me. i have 2 pro tech friends and another one that catches stuff is FREE also superantispyware download the FREE one Also Spybot search and destroy is free also it catches some oddball ones as well. Once i had the blue screen that kept coming up and computer wouldnt even let me in Malwarebytes or Security Essentials A PAID one called Hitman pro found the culprit anmd I was back in business. (you can also get Hitman pro on a 30 day trial as well). It saved me quite a few times. If all else fails start up in safe mode and go to system restore and go back to whatever time that your comuter was working fine. One time I had a virus that would not even let me in ANY of my security program. NOT EVEN IN SAFE MODE. I went to system restore. went back a few weeks and VOILA Computer worked perfect. THEN i did all my scans in safe mode after that. EVERYTHING got cleaned up nice.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) Getting up there in age. OHHHHH you are very funny my friend. I owe you one Big Time LOL. Just looked up the origin and this is what I found. "Long in the tooth" means old. It refers to the fact that one can determine a horse's age by looking at its teeth. A horse's gums recede as it ages causing its teeth to look "long." You forgot one thing.........Old horses can also be used as STUDS!! weeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeeee I found that info in a "Gallop" pole

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 07:05 AM) I know you very well my friend. Both pretty much started together (you beat me by a few hours.. ) PM'd a bit over the years and had certain fan clubs back in the day. I remember you joking about reaching 1,000 years ago here. You were already pretty long in the tooth to begin with. About time brother. Yep sure remember you as JeremyReed fan ( acouple of times i beleieve!!) I remembere messaging back and forth as well. Yes you are right about the 1000.... It's ABOUT TIME! ummmm "long in the tooth???? I gotta get out from under a rock. never heard that quote before. it's meaning?? (and yes give me a "DUH" for asking)

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) and please post more. Sometimes I would, but most times my postings never have comments made on them whereas I can get involved in the discussion, so in a way it is telling me that either what I post is irrelavant, has no validity to them, or because I am not one of the "regulars." Anyway that is why I do only post occasionally when I feel that I have a valid comment or if I have a question about some player info. Usually when questions are brought up there are some very informative peiople on this board that will come up with a good answers when the question pertains to a player / team etc. So in essence even though I post very little, I do enjoy te Soxtalk board and all its posters and always read and check for updates a couple of times per day. Great work to all who are behind the scenes as well as up front.

I know that this isn't worth a tread of its own and it can be deleted at any time, but just wanted to note that after 9 years, I FINALLY made it to the 1000 post club. Today commemorates my 9th anniversary on Soxtalk......so I thought that I may just as well post it now. I know its no big deal.................but just somethimng that i wanted to do. Thanks to everyone at Soxtalk for passing along all of the information that you gather on all aspects of the team..................and to all of the mods who have helped me out when I had questions about some uncertainties that I was unfamilair with when posting. I also know that I am not well known or noted for posting much. I guess I really only post when I feel that I have something to say...or when there is something that i feel that I can add to the conversation. I do enjoy reading much of the info and opinions that everyone has on a daily basis from though. Anyway..... Thank you to EVERYONE for all of your input.......................all the way from new members and all the way up to the 5 and upcoming 6 figure posters.

2012-2013 MLB off season tracker thread

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 06:59 AM) I guess it depends which side of the closer theory you sit on. Some think that nearly anyone close, while some think that only certain players have the makeup. It's the second straight year that Boston traded for a "proven" closer, so we know how they feel. Pittsburgh saved money in the deal, which let them sign Liriano, so I guess they figure that they are better off with Jason Grilli as closer, along with Liriano and prospects, than just Hanrahan as closer. Good points and I do agree to some extent but Pitts also has a reputaion of when they get someone PROVEN.. that they get traded away. So yeah....there are good arguments on both sides of the coin. Either way............man it sure has to be hard to be a Pittsburgh fan. Jason Schmidt Jason Bay Aramis Ramirez Jason Kendall Xavier Nady Adam LaRoche Jack Wilson Freddy Sanchez just to name a few of spme players that they have developed that got traded when their careerers were turning corners. Pittsburgh fans have GOT to be getting tired of making stars only to see them getting traded away to free up money and retain more prospects. And then to see them get developed and only to see be traded away again at a later date when their paychecks are going to get jacked up. I'm a Die hard Sox fan........but boy I'd LOVE to see Pittsburgh get out of this continuous black hole that they have been sucked in to for so long. Sure would be nice to develope players and have CONFIDENCE that the front office will retain and keep them. -
The one thing that i distinctly remember about Fisk is one of the ways that he Definately did not gain POINTS with the front office. He spoke his mind. Example: I remember Fisk sitting in the locker room with his back to the press, and someone from the press asked his opinion on what he thought about when they traded Lamaar Hoyt. He turned his head...looked up and said "I think its stupid". Saying that on national TV about the decisions that YOUR BOSSES make doesnt exactly get you in line for the next huge Christmas bonus.

QUOTE (bulokis @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) I dont quite get this trade. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) For which side/why? I kind of dont get it either. Harold reynolds brought out a good point that one of toughest things that can devastate a team is to have a lead and then blow MANY of them throughout the course of the year, Pirates "had" someone in HANRAHAN to SHUT down the ending of a game on a consistent basis, and that is something that Pitts needs...... especially when they had a losing record for umpteen years. At least when they had leads thay had a Great chance of keeping them. Now the one guy that can help them to keep a lead a CLOSEout a game..........they trade away. In a way....who cares if you're helping to better your ballclub in other areas, if once you do you cant close it out to retain a win. They had that confidence with someone and now that is goine. What kind of message does that send to the rest of the players? -

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 07:44 AM) Tonight will be pasta. I have to pick up my daughter at the airport, so we're fixin' a big pot of sauce and leaving it in the crock pot. Tomorrow I have some beautiful looking, Texas raised, NY strip steaks for out on the grill. OMG I should send you my address and see if you could FED EX one right off the grill into my mailbox. Already slipping in my own drool puddles just thiniking about it and picturing it. Hope you dont have a STRONG north-north east wind blowing when you cook them. If the scent reaches all the way over here I just may fall into a trance when it reaches my house. Have a GREAT Christams dinner and time with loved ones. Sounds lile you have a great plan and a good start to it already.

Born in 59' (pennant year!! Great year for Sox fan to be born yeah yeah yeah!!!!!!) Growing up my dad and I did not have a very good relationship. But there was something that was real different when we went to the Old Comiskey together with my other older brothers. We ALWAYS sat in left field. He got me hooked on the Sox and baseball in general. As time progressed when I was in my 20's, I knew a guy that had golden box seats (row 23 dead on first base) and would sell me any 4 dates every year. Well I took my dad to 2 of them every year to finally say Thanks for all of the games that he took me and the family too by FINALLY getting him the chance to sit in GREAT seats. We did that together for about 5 years until he acquired Parkinsions disease, and passed away 2 years later. Thanks dad for giving me the great love of baseball and for most of all...........for teaching me what it is to be and making me a TRUE die hard Sox fan. I love the CELL but STILL miss the Old Comiskey BIG TIME. For anyone who has never been there........... to this day there is NOTHING comparable to what your chest felt like when they blew off the fireworks when a home run was hit and the sound would thunder and boom as it rickochetted off all the walls. Your heart would ROCK inside your chest. I'm sure others could relate to that like BigEdWalsh and others on this board. Thanks again dad! (Note after umpteen years......... finally getting closer to post # 1000)
