  1. Lot of speculations, but I k now that he has been VERY unhappy being pulled by Ventura the last few games. You wonder if all frustrations combined if he let it all fly on him, and let him have it on his managerial issues, and RV sent him home
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 8s8 seconds ago Chris Sale involved in a "clubhouse incident before the game," team says. #WhiteSox Uhhhhh. Well he has made it clear that he wants to pitch in a game THAT counts. I bet he is soooo sick of losing and frustration built about another year of hopes down the tubes.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) About as to be expected by Turner. my question is What is on the front office's mind? . Why bring a guy up to pitch when his AAA numbers are a 4.71 ERA with 29 walks? How in the world do they expect this guy to compete with Major league pitching? So what in the friggin' purpose of this move? If that is the best that we have in our system, then geeeez we have absolutely no chance whatsoever.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:48 PM) Uncle Gustov, is that youz? Can haz cheeseburgerz? Muha. forgive me for being clueless, but having a hard time figuring out some of your responses. To my past one "Is that you daddy?" When I questioned it, you mentioned something about me being insensitive to an orphan. and now this one Is That You Uncle Gustav? There MUST be something that I am missing someplace. Sorry for my ignorance, but this is Wayyyy over me head.
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) Daddy..... Is that you? daddy?? huh?? did i miss something?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) Hahn told Levine this isn't their last trade and they have the money for more additions. Hopefully a good bat is available soon, and Melky comes back, Abreu gets on track, and the team should be back to winning some games. Personally, I think one of the big problems is they are letting good pitches to hit go by without swinging. Yes meatheads will be angry with you if you hit the ball hard but out on pitch one, but that is often a pretty good pitch to hit. It is where Sale got burned today. Just wanted to say Thanks. I don't post often but amidst all of the gloom and doom thats written on the board, you seem to find ways to put some HOPEFUL and positive spins on things at times. Granted i am just as frustrated with everything as everyone else is, but this is baseball. I love the sport. I hate when winter comes and we have to wait soooo long for the season to start. I am TRYING to have some hope in this team, but man some of the negativity really gets depressing at times. Is everyone frustrated? Absolutely and SHOULD be. But overall I still believe we have a good team. I know its a long shot, but if Abreu ever gets his head out of his rear end, we have a lineup of one through 7 that's really not all that bad. He has hurt us a lot of games this year in real possible turning points in games. I remember a while back he Paulie went in a half year slump. He made NO excuses. He knew how he hurt the team, And fans were calling for his head. Just worked hard at getting out of it...and becamse a start and a hero again.. Can only hope the same for Abreu. I'd rather have the team go through this now and get all this $h&^&&t out of the way now than have it come in September. On the other side.......we have a REAL good defensive club as well. hopefully Rodon will get where he is supposed to be as well. A lot of IF's and Hopes? Sure. But if the 83 Sox can start off as horrible as they did and not lose a series the entire second half, then why couldn;t this team if everyone just does what they are supposed to do? Any, enough said. Just wanted to say thanks for some of your positives posts that you put out now and then. There is still a LOT of baseball yet. and if Frazier hasn't done what he did in many key situations,... we might be where Minny is at. But we are not. And also.....the front office (agree or disagree with any future moves) is at least TRYING to to something by TRYING to get a guy that eats innings to salvage a bullpen so its not totally trashed by August, along with still having money for more additions. Granted. its all long shots. But we still do have a VERY Good chance with some REAL hope with the pieces that we have. Tom
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 23, 2016 -> 06:37 PM) Anyone else having issues with CSN? yes constant in and out mostly OUT. All other channels working just not CSN for the game "Beautiful!!"
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 23, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) Mine is out. same here
  9. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 16, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) It started off with Eaton being a fresh dad and kind of carried over to whenever he does something good. Saw that explanation on twitter. Thanks. Regardless the reason...... still cracks me up
  10. I noticed that there are times when Eaton scores that someone (forgot who) takes Eaton and cradles him is his arms and rocks him back and forth in the process within the dugout. Cracks me up every time that I see it, but does anyone know the story behind that or what it signifies? Thanks
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Byung Ho Park has the worst name in baseball. Sorry to disagree but the Seattle Mariners pitcher takes the cake. Charlie Furbush. If he is married, can you imagine the ribbing that his wife takes?
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 6, 2016 -> 06:09 AM) Johnson just will never be more than AAA filler. I hope that the Johnson experiments are finally done with. They have brought him up numerous times all with the same results. International pitcher of the year or not...........Getting behind in counts, and a fast ball that tops out at 92 and straight as an arrow will not make it in the bigs
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 11:52 PM) Shades of Jim Parque near the end...will never forget that four homer game by Mike Cameron. I was at that game. I remember when he was going for # 5 he was walked and the crowd boooooed our pitching for doing so. His next and final at bat Cameron put it on the warning track, and he got an amazing ovation. Plus thats the game that him and Aaron Boone went back to back jacks in the first inning and then did it again in the same 1st inning. I almost saw 2 things of history in one day. 2 giys going back to back an back to back again in one inning and ALMOST a 5 home run game. The cool thing was that I had a friend from Seattle that was in town and he got to see his home team do this when we were about 20 rows behind home plate.
  14. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 11:34 PM) It said Dan hayes will be on the pregame shows. Did not see Bill Melton's name. Is he not coming back this year? Couldn't find any info on him for the pre / post game show appearance this year. oops my bad Just saw it after re-reading it. Yep, he;s returning

  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 11:10 PM) Like another has said, hard to judge based on spring training games... but I like his tone, enjoy his pace, and also am happy that he brings advanced stats with him. Even with just spring training games to go off - count me in his corner. Hope we do see some more flare and excitement in the regular season thou. Couldn't have said it better. Yes, my curiosity also as well when it comes to the excitement part. In a tight game that has some drama in key situations, am looking forward to see what he has to bring. Hoping he unloads. Plus being a newbie, he doesn't seem to shy away from mixing up the one liners with Stone. Sometimes the new guy on the block will be pretty reserved with a veteran. I'm sure that some of his reservations will decrease the more that him and Stone get to work together and get used to one another's little nuances. (lastly he's NOT Chuck Swirsky. Man did I ever fear that that friggin' wet noodle of an announcer was going to get the job).
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) Haven't listened yet, but oh boy... http://www.mighty1090.com/episode/ken-hawk...kenny-williams/ edit: I thought this would be more negative toward KW, but it's just more typical Hawk stuff. Hawk with The KW theory. Here;s mine dded to it. I know that I am wayyyy out in left field, but was just wondering. Since they tried to trade LaRoche and failed, do you think that there is even a smidgen of a possibility that all of this is from JR to get rid of LaRoche and it is KW taking the brunt to cover for him? I mean they do have their staff meetings. Any possibility that JR stressed the fact that after the fiasco last year and thus year having back issues, that JR may have implicated in their meetings.Enough is enough. Do what you have to do. I may be wayyyy offf, but who knows if KW did what he did the way that he did because he feels pressure from upstairs. we may NEVER know what really happened
  18. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 12:34 AM) I am so flipping glad to see Lawrie wearing number 15. His fire and dirtbag style of play is such a refreshing sight after seeing a pretty boy soft serve variety named Gordon Beckham. Even if Lawrie sucks - at least he'll be passionately pissed off while doing so. That said, I've got tall expectations for him at the dish this year and think he'll be a great pickup. Agreed. Win or lose. Good or bad. I think we have all had enough of a team of walking funeral parlors. LOOKING forward to HOPEFULLY a REAL exciting year
  19. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) I saw this article on Yahoo yesterday and thought it would be worth a post. I still think the home run in the video is the farthest I have ever seen, home run derby or not. Some of the younger posters here may have never seen it. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-202609845.html Still have an old VHS copy of this that I taped when it was on. Got the juices flowing to want to watch it again.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 08:33 AM) White Sox to name Jason Benetti as Hawk Harrelson's half-season replacement There is a couple audio clips in this article of Jason calling some home runs. Thanks for the link. like it. If he sounds like that in the atmosphere of minor league ball, I imagine he;ll get even more jacked up and sound even better yet announcing for a home pro team on the big stage and in clutch situations. Plus his voice does not sound whiny either. Sounds real solid. Good stuff. Will see how things go when the season progresses, but as of now........Answered quite a few questions that I posted about earlier, and looks like he could be pretty solid. Apparently this guys does his homework and research as well. Thanks again
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 06:09 AM) So this guy is doing all Sox home games when Hawk isn't there? I've never heard his voice before, but damn, he can't be any worse than Swirsky. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS that is a major major major major major major plus. If Swirsky got the bill.....geez.............I would go out and order a specialized TV and have it programmed to mute the sound and have no closed caption on Sox home games only. When he announced, I didn't know if I was watching a game on TV, or listening to a 5 year old kid in a long car ride with his dad and always asking and pestering him "Hey dad..are we there yet? Are we there yet? How much longer before we are there? Hey dad this.....Hey dad that etc etc etc. I am sure that there were times that Stoney had to be thinking "Swirsky.......Shut the "F" up, get some actual knowledge of the game and then come back and do your job will ya?"
  22. Few things looking for. 2).....Enthusiasm (that he has a good home run call) (if you walk away from the TV, that YOU KNOW that something great happened by the excitement in his voice and can't wait to run back to find out what happened) (clutch situations.....is there enough "drive" in his voice and announcing skills as to help get the viewers "jacked" to help really get INTO the game. 2) Is there enough knowledge, experience and respect in the guy, where he doesn't have to keep looking to Stoney for advice on players situations etc. NOT ALL... but to me......announcers that have played the game usually have a better handle on something that they have experienced first hand and that their lives were heavily involved in, rather than someone that just has had an eye view of something. (example. you can draw plans on how to build a house, but unless you actually did the work that was involved in the actual construction of it, there is no way that you can personally feel all that goes into doing it ....and therefore have a better handle on all of its INNER nuances that goes into the actual process of it. If that wasn't true to the case, then MLB channel and all of their programming would not be flooded with announcers that had their heart, soul, and sweat that was put into the game. On a personal side, I hope that I am proved wrong and that this guy does very very well. Because ...yes...there are announcers that are VERY GOOD at what they do, and yet have no clue on which end of the bat to hold, because they never even played the game.
  23. GEEEEZ I'd hate to see Swirsky in there. No excitement in his voice when great things happen. Guy sounds like a friggin wet noodle. At the same time, I'd like to hear someone announce the game, and make professional comments and analogies that relate to what is going on at hand, instead of using a ghastly amount of his announcing air time in asking Stone more questions than a 10 year old kid on meth asking his parents on a vacation car ride, "Are we there yet?" "When are we gonna be there?" Half of his announcing was "Geez Steve, what would you do in this situation? Why does this person do so an so in this situation? etc etc etc. If you are announcing baseball, then act like you know something about the game, instead of spending most if the time sounding like someone who came over from another country, and was just introduced to the game of baseball for the very first time. Swirsky? PASS! Multiplied by 30. So.. Steve! What do you think? What would you do if I was made the announcer? How would you handle the situation? Have you ever run into a problem like me before. Can you explain the ruling to me what our roles would be if I was in the booth with you? Sorry to bug you with these questions,,,,but I have no other choice, because I am friggin clueless up the wazooooo.
  24. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Pitchers Name WAR Scott Eyre -1.4 Ken Patterson -1.3 Jesse Jefferson -0.9 Carlos Castillo -0.8 Lerrin LaGrow -0.5 Doug Drabek -0.1 Hector Noesi 0.1 Dylan Axelrod 0.1 Cy Acosta 0.2 2 other pitchers to add to the list. Juan Agosto (I mean Juan Disgusto), and a reliever named Pablo Torrealba. When he made his dismal debut, Harry Carry said out loud on the broadcast' Pablo Torrealba! Where do they get these guys?"
  25. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) Cubs are just driving that price up for the Cards. Then they go get Gordon. I heard something about them not being interested in Gordon, because of wanting Schwarber in left along with his bat.
