Hello. This is Sox related.....but Not sure if this this is meant for this forum or not. I am a hobby artist (mostly airbrush) and I also use a lot of other media with it. I am in the process of making a one of a kind painting, but I am in need of something. Looking for links to pics of the "front face" of the old as well as the new comiskey park. I have some links and pics, but most are at an angle, or from arial view, or are so up close that only a few windows can bee seen. I am looking for (especially the old park "white or brown brick........preferrably white) of front face..... "no angle"...... of the"main entrance" of the stadium whereas you can still see the whole building in the picture as well. Any and all help would be appreciated. If you know of any links to the new stadium as well, that would also help. Thank you

The Greatest Ball Plant in the World

QUOTE (59th street @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) Thanks for sharing this; great read. A lifetime of memories at "Sox Park". There was nothing better than walking "up the steps" from behind home plate and seeing that beautiful green grass under the lights. I love the new park (even though it faces in the wrong direction) but nothing will ever replace the fun times of growing up in the original Sox Park. couldn't agree with you more -
What drives me up the friggin wall is Old Country Buffet. Prices keep going up and up and up. Then on top of it, they have a guy or woman MANDATORILYcome up to your table,,,,,introduce themselves...........and then sign their name on your receipt and say that "I am so and so. i will be your server". Its a friggin "get it yourself" buffet. I dont need any server. Its just their way of saying............."i am here to get you things, so make sure that you leave me a tip for that ........as well as removing your used plates. Granted.....I always throw a few bucks down anyway for busboys. But geeezz this mandatory SERVER thing at a buffet is stupid. Probably why the one in Countryside Ill closed down. Kept raising prices plus the mandatory "server" garbage.

Just got home from the game. The look on DAza's face on the jumbo tron was classic, when he should have been out on an easy popup, and instead got a double after the ball got lost in the fireworks smoke. He had such a WRY smile on his face. I sure wish knew what Hawks reaction and comments were. that was a hilarious moment at the game. When we saw the smoke, we were all yelling...."pop it up"....and when it happened and the ball landed 2 feet in front of the one that was under it to catch it.... was something that we all died on.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) I love that last line. Yea, he went to far me too. I heard the no hitter by a pitching machine before, but the line about the last time a cub player got to second base was at the high school prom really got me. Never heard that one before. Reminds me A WHILE back that someone posted this here on the board. His kid was dressed up in a skeleton costume at Halloween. The neighbor saw the kid and said "Gee sonny, that sure is a scary looking skeleton costume that you are wearing. The kid replied I'm not going as a skeleton. I'm going as a Cubs player from the last championship that they won. THAT ONE REALLY GOT ME. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 07:01 AM) http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heym...d-not-just-done Adding to the list of possibilities for his failure last year, didn't somebody on this board report a while back that his wife was pretty seriously ill? Never found out what happened, but if that really happened, not easy to travel and play ball when the one you love has serious health issues. Any feedback on anyone as to what happened?

OMG i don't what I'd do if Palermos pizza was no longer available. Almost had a coronary last year when a bridal shop burned down last year. It was 2 doors away from Palermos. Fortunately, Palermos was untouched.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) What a cool place that joint was can't beat outfield upperdeck. The thing that really made the wrap around upper deck so unique to the park was that when a home run was hit and the fireworks went off, the THUNDER of them echoing and bouncing off of the enclosed walls used to make your chest just ABSOLUTELY THUNDER with an UNDESCRIBABLE INTENSITY. I went there on the 4th of July once, and during the grand finale, to this day, my chest has never thundered with that degree of pounding not only from the booming of how intense everything was being blown off, but also the reverberation of how it all bounced off walls and kept coming and coming and coming. It was the only time in my life that the level of pounding on my chest that I felt had actually FAR outweighed the loudnes that I heard as the bombs were being blown off. Granted..it needed some serious renovations and upgrades, but over all.............Man o Man how I miss that place. I'm sure that Big Ed Walsh can tell some great stories from his times there as well. -
QUOTE (StatManDu @ Feb 19, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) THIS DATE IN SOX HISTORY: FOX IN THE FOLD 1960: Nellie Fox agreed to his contract with the White Sox, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune. Fox, the reigning American League MVP, was reported to have agreed to a salary close to $50,000 in a phone conversation with White Sox vice-president Hank Greenberg. wow, thats amazing! 50 grand. I think we figured it out that when Arod signed his contract, if he batted 4 times per game, he'd make about 44 grand per plate appearance, and yet Fox's annual salary AFTER WINING THE MVP YET, is just a little above what Arod makes per one at bat.. Mind blowing when you think about it.

I got one that was so clever and yet and the same time "just so wrong!!" (In my opinion....this one is going to be tough to beat!!!....but after reading it......let's see what ya got!!!) My older brother was in the National Guard in the late 60's. He ditched a couple of riot meetings, got caught, and they sent him to Germany for guard duty for a year and a half. (Rough punishment! Going to the beer capital iof the world!!) During his stay he told me of what transpired in a bar with him and his 2 friends. In the bathroom, my brother filled up a hot water bottle with cream of chicken soup. Stuck the water bottle under his sweater with a tube sticking out of the bottle and under his turtle neck portion of the sweater. Next he puts away shot after shot after shot. Starts pretending like he is getting very queasey, and then bends over onto the bar like he's going to hurl. In the process of when he is bent over, he hits the water bottle hard, the cream of chicken soup goes all over the bar, and his 2 friends grab spoons and start eating the soup off of the bar. How someone can even dream up something like that is beyond me, but as gross at it is, you gotta admit... IT WAS PRETTY DARN GOOD!

!n 1975 I when i was 16, i worked part time in a VFW hall. Stipped floors, cleaned a bar, set up tables and chairs for 3 floors of bingo etc, Well, every so often they rented the hall for a special doing on a Saturday night. This one night, the hall was rented on the Saturday right before the 4th of July which came on Monday. So naturally, because of The 4th, we did not work that Monday morning to clean up from Saturday. Came in Tuesday. and some guy looked like he sat in the sink and had the most destitute RUNS OF HIS LIFE. IT FRIGGIN' DRIED over the 3 day weekend, and literally had to be SCRAPED off before a cleaning could even begin. On top of that, someone in the womens bathroom decided to put their "Strawberry jelly roll rags" in to the toulet and attempted to flush it. The USED rag was jammed in the toilet and water EVERYWHERE. At that time,....... man...what a way to earn a whopping $2.50 an hour. That day was more pathetic than a Japanese actor in a Godzilla flick.

Quote: "Really, I don't blame anybody for anything that went wrong," Beckham said. "I blame myself for getting away from who I was, someone who was confident and who knew he was capable of doing great things. I'm back there now, and I'm excited to get back in there and compete." Just curious, do you think that this could be anything that had to do with when KW was raggin' and Walker............ about Beckham returning to his old self and old swing that he had when he first came up and had success?? And Beckham saying this because he knew what worked for him, changed some things by listening to Walk, and regrets it, so now he blames himself??? Just a thought

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Take a bunch of boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Total, Raisin Bran, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Pebbles, etc. and staple them to a shirt. Walk around with a bloody knife. Cereal killer. Wow! Nice!!! That's one for the books! Oh man. I just heard about another one on TV the other day. I have to put this one in the books for the future as well. A guy had a telephone cord wrapped around his neck with a rubber chicken hanging from it while wearing a bright blue shirt. I cracked up when I heard him say that his costume was.........get this.............. "Chicken-cord-on-blue" (Chicken cordon bleu). For ridiculousness................that one is going to be hard to top. Anymore corny insane ideas??? I'm open!!
-
Need a corny idea??? In the past, I had a costume where nobody guess what I was. I got a black plastic kettle, hung it around my neck, and filled it up with bars of DIAL soap with a sign that said "What Am I?" Nobody guessed it, so at the end of the day I revealed to everyone that I am dressed up as a "Crock-O-Dial!!!" (Maybe that's why I don't post much. Who could stomach the one-liners?? Ah who knows.........maybe someday I'll reach #1000 yet!!)

Well, when it comes time to extending his broadcasting career with the White Sox, Hawks contract negotiations and extension just took a Bolingbrook bounce for him.

Just curious. For quite some time I have been reading about the Dave Martinez hype. Can someone give me the low down on why they really believe that HE IS THE GUY. I don't know much about his managerial credentials, and how he is at handling players. Also, how is he at being able to get the best out of them in order for us to believe that we can have a winning team again? Looking foe all comments that have some real validity to them as to why there are so many posts on the Dave Martinez bandwagon. (Just a side note) I'm not for or against. Just looking for some "rock solid" answers as to why so many posts have been made as to why they thought that he would be the perfect fit for our new manager.
