QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Well that works but we could also turn that into a 3 team deal where the giants would get all the prospects, but they are still in a race themselves, so they would need a starter in return for JS. Plus that wouldn't be the Giants "forte" eigher. Their management loves the proven veterans, kinda like the Yankees philosophy.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) Have you not been to a game yet this year? Not yet soxin. I'm going in August for sure. As a matter of fact, the past three years I've gone in August but usually against the crappy teams.

Hey... big girls need love too.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Have we missed anything funny/interesting? Well.. you guys know how much of a stud I am, and were gonna watch me spit my game, but you and Slav didn't want to be jealous so I eased off.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Don't forget the part where I lifted it up to my chest and slammed it back down because it was interfering with my goalkeeping. That cart had a future dammit! Good times..

White Sox scouting Chris Burke of the Astros?
SoxAce replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'll take him.. easily.. They can give us that Lidge guy too, and put him in that set-up role with Coop working with him to get his s*** together. BMac-Riske-Thornton-Cotts-Lidge-Jenks.. *drool* -
Damn your old... well... Happy Birthday!!

The shopping cart was the best part of the day. I had some jackass s*** with Greg on that Jewel's cart.

QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) I actually thought this was a good deal for Cincy.. I see that I am in the minority on that though Hell f***ing yes you are. They got ass raped. Pure and simple. They basically set the Nats up for now and the future. They can now trade Soriano for some stud spects or another solid player if need be.

Both of them know that I can hit and field (made a web gem on Slavko's line drive.) I really enjoyed the time. Meeting fellow soxtalk posters is always a thrill and to know what you have basically in common, it's even better. I'm sure we are all tired as hell from playing baseball and soccer. We should definitely do this again, maybe with more posters here hopefully. BTW, Greg is a real daredevil. Didn't think he would climb the fence, or go in the sprinklers with me to cool off. Slavko is a real class act himself. He did suck in hitting today.. but he can pitch with that big 6+ foot frame of his. Both are cool brothas and hopefully we can do this again, or maybe go to a whitesox game in the near future.

Josh Beckett 26 homers allowed? That's the most shocking, amazing stat I've ever read! Please ESPN get the f*** outta here.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) How about that Arod has a walkoff homer against Atlanta when his team was down by a run? That's not even the only thing wrong with that poll you know.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) I think he watches a s***load of Minnesota games, though. I have gone out of my way to catch a few Liriano starts, and the guy is unreal. I said that Zambrano was the best young pitcher (25 or younger) in the game a few weeks back, and I usually can't stand it when people's opinions change dramatically in a very short period of time, but it looks like I am one of those people. Liriano is the best young pitcher in the game, hands down. He is a talent, with enormous upside, but I don't like to punch guys ticket to the hall of fame when this kid hasn't even pitched a whole season. Saying he's better than a provin Santana is just ridiculous. His only lost was against a team who faced him before so they knew and expected what he was gonna throw to them or more prepared hitting wise. We'll see if he can do this next season as well cause it's always alot harder the second/third time around. I still think he and King Felix (who has had a poor season with alot of hype on him as well) will be at the top of the best in the AL for years to come. Santana and Big Z have done it continuously though which I would like to see this kid do and staying healthy will be another key cause noone can predict an injury. He'll be a serious stud, but I'm just saying don't say he's better than Santana right now putting up Papelbon(or even Willis, Felix, etc.. as rookies) type numbers as a starter. We'll wait when the league sees him more than one time he'll have his struggles and dominance. Don't get on his nuts too much HJ.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) Liriano is better than Santana. Wite... your smarter than this.

I actually thought he was done before this surgery. I didn't think he would be the same guy. Hell, even watching his commercial about that damn bag proves it. The real Gagne would have put a hole in that f***er.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) A Fan of Brian Anderson? What has Brian Anderson done in a major league uniform to make you a fan of his? Other than treat a Cubs utility infielder like a red-headed stepchild. The gains that you talk of are minimal, and if you stopped letting Hawk tell you what to think, you would realize this. And I may have a lot to learn, you're right. But it sure ain't a punk 20 year old thats going to teach me. Hawk has nothing to do with why I like Brian. As a matter of fact, Hawk doesn't even say that much about Brian as it is. He might say something about his D every once in a while, but not too much especially since Brian doesn't play that much to begin with. I've seen him play in college, I'm watch his numbers in the minors in each level he's been at, and watching him play in the outfield (especially when your at a game) is always great. I'm not even gonna count the fact that he's very young, and actually makes the game more fun from just watching him, and when you see him smiling. When you see a kid who is a rookie (which everyone seems to forget about) look more mature out there month, after month you have to appreciate. I'm not saying I'm satisfied with his average now (who is) but to go far far down as he did, and to see that average go up to now the ".200" territory is just good to see for a rookie and also seeing the sox don't need help in the offensive category as it is makes it even more better for him not to do too much. I'm actually glad you added this sentence. At least your not as thick in the head as I thought.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) It is difficult to type coherantly when I'm nearly paralyzed thinking about how delusional you are in regards to Brian Anderson. I mean, a couple more posts and you'll be ready to hand him the batting title. You got alot to learn kid (and if your not a kid, I apologize cause it seems you are from your post) I'm not the only fan of BA's on this site and I'll gladly back him up anyway possible. Noone said anything about him getting batting titles, hitting .300 for the season etc. But to say that Brian has show little improvement, with the bat is just foolish. I don't know if you know this but he is almost at that .200 mendoza line plateau (I know big whoop, but from where he was before till now is amazing) and has improved every single month in every category. For Brian it's basically all he can do is go up, and I'm glad he's starting to figure it out. He looks waaaaay more comfortable now, he's striking out less, and his disipline has improved (can take a walk better a week than Rowand could in a month) He's always had a decent eye, and now he's basically showing it more considering he's like 4th on the team in walks, which is good since he hasn't had as many at-bats as the other players. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) I wrote that Anderson is 7 for 21 in June, which for the uninitiated is a .333 average. You replied with: So clearly you DO think he will hit .333 in June and then improve on that......being as that is what you posted about 9 minutes ago. read my post again I said "around" doesn't mean he will hit that high, but it doesn't mean he couldn't eigher. He can drop off a bit, but he is improving, that is my point.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) He increases each month have been so minute that they almost don't merit any consideration. That sentence didn't even make any sense so I guess that doesn't merit any consideration as well. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Because Anderson has shown in the last month what he's capable with the bat, plus he's better defensively than Rowand, and he projects to be a similar player to say a Torii Hunter in his prime. You have to remember with young players, they're not going to produce instantly like Jeff Francouer did. Good points. Anderson comming out was projected to be a 5 tool type player. Great D, good power, strong, accurate arm, can run, etc.. (you know where I'm going with this) He was a better minor league player, overall better player (hell Rowand was projected to be a 4th OF) If you need me to further elaborate, I'll be happy to, I got all night since I'm not working tomorrow. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) His increases each month have been so minute that they almost don't merit any consideration. Also, you expect him to hit .333 all month and then improve on that in August? Would you like to make a friendly wager? I'm not expecting him to hit .333 the rest of this month but don't be surprised if he hits in the .275-.290+ then increase that though since that has been his current pace.
-
QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) He is 7 for 21 in July. Before officially proclaiming him "capable with the bat" I'd like to see success over a period longer than 4 or 5 games. WTF? Have you seen his numbers each month. He has improved in every category each month through now. I expect him to hit around that average this whole month, then improve the next. He is finally settling in.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Hmm, well, I suppose Shingo would just have to count on meeting up with Tadahito in the City for sushi. They could alternate between Chicago and Arlington Heights. Shingo was the main reason Tadahito joined the sox if you didn't remember.
-
I'll miss him. Went to games a couple seasons ago and hearing the Gong play when he came out was just awesome. I would gladly take him over Pollite right now. But Shingo probably won't be back.

QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Sorry! No way would I trade Pods for Rowand. We already have our CF in Anderson. Rowand might be a better defensive LF, but what about our leadoff and base-stealing man? That to me is more important than Rowand's LF defense. Did you read carefully?
