I've already accepted the fact he is what he is in that perspective. Kid is never going to be patient. If he continues to hit for a high average however, I'm cool with it. He holds enough value in his bat alone to be a positive player. It's the glove I question.
It's training camp. Beat writers and meathead raido guys in Chicago don't know what certain guys are working on, whose running the wrong route(s) etc. Seems like a silly thing to get worked up about.
Patrick Mahomes absolutely sucked in his training camp last season and that was with him sitting a year to learn the offense. https://www.google.com/amp/s/clutchpoints.com/chiefs-news-patrick-mahomes-is-having-a-rough-training-camp-throws-7-ints-in-6-practices/amp/
He came out of it just fine.
Mariners plays the Padres, Rays and Tigers the next stretch of games. I see two very winnable series there.
Pirates on the other hand have a shitty stretch of good teams coming up.
Even with Robert, Madrigal coming up and they can sign Cole, J.D. Martinez, Grandal and even another arm in the off season and I still wouldn't take this team seriously with him at the helm.
He's a weird case. His bat has fallen off a cliff but his defensive metrics have been very good. He came in with the bat first rep in the Cubs org but it's his defense that has improved in the big leagues He was a 2.5 WAR player last season and he's still only 25. He just needs to be at least average with the bat to be a decent player for them.
Quite a few opposing announcers have questioned Ricky it seems. Stone took a bit of a shot at him too for that. Bunts with a slow ass runner at 3B (and he puts the steal on with slow ass runners instead of his fast guys not named Tim Anderson or he'll put hit and runs on and the hitters fail to execute). Just a joke of a manager.
Moncada's issue is much moreso with his throws. Can't count the number or errors he's either made a bad throw or Abreu couldn't scoop up the ball an average defensive 1B would make. He gets a bit of a pass since he's at a position he hasn't played in years too. I can look and personally see a potentially good to great defensive 3B there. Timmy... eh... we'll see.
