  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) It is a fairly regular phenomenon for 18 year olds who throw 100, to peak there and never throw that hard again. Or to totally flame out and/or have injuries. (Colt Griffin, Clint Everts etc.) Usually I'm the type who loves to take the risk on potential phenoms in the draft (Nevin Griffith for example) especially when picking later or a comp. pick, but when your making the #3 overall pick, you better make damn sure you do your research on the player. I hope the sox are doing their homework now on these prospects. If they believe he'll hold up and is just too good to pass on (Chris Sale), take him... and pray.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) Dallas Stars' Rich Peverly, who has had issues with an irregular heartbeat, collapsed on the bench tonight and was rushed to the hospital. They say he is conscious and will be OK, but scary stuff. The game was postponed. http://deadspin.com/cbj-stars-game-current...rley-1540912374 His teammate, Alex Chiasson, also went to the hospital for panic attacks. Just a scary situation all around.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 11:55 AM) Do we need an official club? I had no idea Marty and I agreed on something. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) It is the only thing Marty and I agree on. Haha, I agree with him in some instances than most here on certain topics/players. This happens to be one of them as well.
  4. Such a joke. It should be John Danks running away with it.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 06:58 AM) I'm probably more in favor of trading Viciedo than anybody here, and even I don't see Saunders as being a good return. Your not alone, and I agree 100% about Saunders.
  6. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 07:31 PM) Speaking of Kane's goals, that was a pretty slick one there in the first period. That was his first even strength goal this season with Handzus as his center. Mind boggling to think about. Seems like Leddy has outplayed Oduya for quite a while as well. Hjalmarsson has been doing work on that pair.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) I'm an idiot. Candidate to be a part of a sig for someone right there.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) Kesler staying in Vancouver Thomas Vanek to Montreal, hadn't heard their name. Legwand to Detroit Moulson likely to Minnesota Good god what a trade for the Habs.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 4, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) Sad to see he won't break record with bears. He should of already broken it. That was a horrendous holding call. (I think it was on Craig Steltz)
  10. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 05:16 PM) shut your mouth I'm 5'7" Hey, your not alone!
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 3, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) I'm wondering if their "big" move will be bringing Teuvo Teravainen to the States, he is tearing it up in Finland. I can see that. Bowman was quoted earlier in the year if he didn't have the commitment to Jokerit, Hawks might of brought him over then. He could follow the Kruger path for sure. In other news...
  12. QUOTE (bulokis @ Mar 2, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Pirri traded to Florida For a 3rd round pick in 2014 and a 5th in 2016. I'm happy for the kid. Had the pleasure of meeting him and Kevin Hayes last year during the Hawks cup finals. Great guy, and hope he succeeds with Florida. Good for him he'll have some familiar faces to play with. (Jayes, Olsen) He'll be severely missed with the Hogs that's for sure. A shame that Morin is stuck too. He's another guy who should be in the NHL. (especially over Bickell)

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 1, 2014 -> 11:03 PM) Oh, and Avi also has a career .734 OPS in the minors compared to Eaton's .951 But were going to disregard what league(s) Avi was playing in compared to Eaton at a much younger age to boot. **Noone has to know this.**
  14. Versteeg, first player to score at United Center, Wrigley Field and Soldier Field. Pretty cool for him.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 02:23 AM) Wouldn't mind J.R. at all. Just 22, has improved his defense year after year (the same as Davidson has improved his) and he had one of the higher pitch count rates for a catcher in the minors (decent walk rate, doesn't strikeout too much either and surprised a few people with his power surge). He fits the sox mold as being a guy who is young, cost controlled, and borderline MLB ready (he already got a taste of PAs this past season) He might benefit from a half year in AAA, but he's nearly ready. He won't be a star, but the sox don't need him to be with the "potential" of the other guys they have. Some of the guys mentioned before him haven't even seen (or seen enough) AA/AAA pitching, yet alone sniff the bigs so how can you know they won't flame out? Would like the move quite a bit. What I said about Murphy back when he was discussed in December in the "Hahn's next move" thread.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) Bernie Pleskoff ‏@BerniePleskoff 32m In Fort Myers today, Johann Santana threw in the high 70's and touched 81 in front of scouts from 7 clubs. Also threw his changeup. He's going to Jaime Moyer all these fools!
  17. Keith and Seabrook made guest appearances on the show Chicago Fire yesterday.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) Idea stolen from the favorite ex-Sox player thread. Who is your favorite currently active player who has never played for the Sox or been in their minor league system? Yea that's tough. Cause currently mine is Gio... has been for years. (other than Reed of course)
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 11:02 AM) This result isn't that surprising. Not at all. Especially when you had guys like Orpik, Brown, Faulk and Wheeler picked from the start. Just terrible.
  20. I'll gladly take Toussaint if he's still there. I might be insanely high on him and bias, and he can easily flame out I.E. Nevin Griffith, but those are the type of upside talents you have to take and hope they pan out.
  21. Congrats to the Switzerland woman's ice hockey team. First Olympic medal ever for woman and first medal from Switzerland hockey since 1948!
  22. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) Short BA piece on Trea Turner's debut as well. Video too. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/gam...ss-trea-turner/ He is going to be very special, where ever he goes. He's probably my favorite prospect to watch and keep tabs on other than maybe Toussaint. (and a few others, albeit some of the keeping tabs on variety) Don't think I've been this pumped (this early) about the draft ever.. (2008 was the closest and even that doesn't compare)
  23. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 05:44 AM) Shirley Temple Damn. I remember my mother telling me she use to always love getting her hairstyle (locks) for events back in the day.
