  1. Can't even get mad. Great thing to tell your kids you got to watch a legend close games for the Yankees growing up. The fact we got 2 runners on to give us a slight chance is amazing in itself.
  2. f***.. I was hoping Girardi let that pitcher face one more guy before bringing in Mariano. God dammit.
  3. Alexei and Rios are trying to f*** up my PTC win. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) It's funny, in my head I went "There ya go Alexei and Rios! Only 4 more runs!" and then I thought "Oh wait, they still have Rivera in the bullpen..." And he still scares the s*** out of me. Even if we get this thing to one run, I still feel we will lose when he comes on.
  4. I'm praying Sale doesn't blow out his arm something with the way our bullpen has been falling like flies. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Meh, hard to not be satisfied with what Pierre has done this year. More or less just cause he's younger and his OBP is much higher, not to mention Pierre's OBP has been inflated by nearly doubling his HBP this season. Won't complain about Juan however. He's really come on.
  5. Brett Gardner is fun to watch. Always liked him as a player. Wished we could have acquired him in the off-season when the Yanks were shopping him in that period. Oh well.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Hah, well then they shouldn't have given up 6 runs! Ya they had the formula right, just forgot the pitching ingredient to go with it.
  7. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Just heard on the Score that he needs Tommy John surgery after the MRI showed a torn UCL. This sucks. we now only have Sale as a lhp out of the pen. I honestly thought you were kidding and had everyone else fooled.. Wow.
  8. I'm so used to C.C. pitching against Buehrle.. like literally every time they face off. Weird seeing Danks name as a counter part.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 04:20 AM) You're right. But you do have to admit that you were off when you said "Josh Hamilton blows Cabrera out of the water in just about everything though." All you had to say was that defense is what separates the two and I wouldn't have said a thing. It was just a bad day for chw with all the bad worded post. I'm sure he'll bounce back nicely tomorrow. (or technically today)
  10. 4 championship trophies + Coach Q throwing a perfect strike to Buehrle on throwing out the first pitch + Hawk and Stone hilarious Hawks gear + Freddy's balls + offense clicking = nice night all around, despite Threets injury and Linebrink being Linebrink.
  11. Nice month for Heidenreich. Kid's command has been miles better this year. My boy Dan Black with a sweet night.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I personally don't think it is cheating, that's why I said you COULD argue either way. I've heard a million different view points on this topic, and everybody has a different perspective on what cheating is in baseball. It's a debatable topic. At the least, you can call the A.J. incident extremely controversial. You said CAN not COULD.. I mean honestly most forms of cheating is part of the game. Spit balls/scuffing the ball (vaseline, cream, etc..), pine tar, corked bats, etc.. Hell Joe Mauer still gives signs to hitters what pitches are thrown when he is on second base. PEDs just so happened to be new so it was more scrutinized in the game (and in alot of ways.. rightfully so). Happens in alot of sports. It's not cheating if you don't get caught.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Like I said, you can argue both ways on this. Honestly you really can't, since your the only one who thinks it is/was cheating. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) I had a Yankees fan tell me that the 09 WS was tainted because A-Rod was on the team. I laugh about that all the time. No doubt. I would as well.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) So I should burn my 05 gear of those two stiffs? I don't have their jerseys. I publicly will now express my disdain about them. If they cheated, they deserve a lot of scorn. I don't like them for cheating. Do I approve of them cheating? No. I never said we should give up the WS trophy if anybody cheated. I'd embrace it. From what I understand, our team was probably the cleanest World Series winner overall in that decade. I don't think Boston fans care less that their two most dangerous hitters were cheaters.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Or struck out and pretended he didn't... Take a look at the video again. He actually took a step or two toward the dugout, then realized Paul didn't tag him out (which usually all catchers do when a ball hits or comes close to hitting the dirt to avoid confusion) That is more equivalent to A.J.'s I.Q. (and Eddings f*** up) than it is cheating. Hell if Crede doesn't get that hit (and Ozuna doesn't steal that base) Angels fans would never bring it up.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Well you weren't specific. You said Hamilton "blows Cabrera out of the water." And I agree about the defensive aspect. I just don't think it plays much of a role. Barry Bonds didn't win 4 straight from '01 to '04 because of his defense. Ryan Howard didn't win in '06 because of his defense. Hell, even Frank didn't win two of them because of his defense. Preach. I understand what chw was saying, but it was poor choice of wording with the "blows him out of the water." Like I said if the season ended today, Cabrera is my MVP. If it wasn't for Bautista, I think he would have a great shot to win the triple crown. (I think he'll catch Hamilton's average by seasons end. Bautista's homers might hurt his chances though) amazing even with Hamilton's protection, Miggy still has more RBI's than he does AND gets pitched around way more. Only thing hurting him is his own damn team. I still think Hamilton slows down a bit come September and the award will be more clearer.
  17. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) I loved Ramirez was disappointed that he got caught but I think he is the most entertaining idiot in baseball. Ditto. And I love Barry Bonds. Watching him hit was just amazing for me to witness. You will never see me flip-flop on that stance about these guys. Ditto with the posters who hate the both of them. Much kudos to both sides.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) The cheating is most of it, but I also simply have hated him as a me-first asshole type player. I'm not suddenly going to approve of him just cause he's wearing our jersey. That said, I'll root for us to win with him as Albert Belle was the biggest prick in the history of baseball and I still wanted us to win. See this I can respect. Same with what Balta said earlier, I respect posters who hated Manny before and will still not be a fan of his here but will still cheer for the team to win even if you feel dirty about it. Same with people who hated Bonds and would still hate him if he was here. I can't stand the flip-flop posters. Great post Greg.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I don't think that word means what you think it means. Ya your right. God I need to go back to school... but I won't.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Manny at SS? Probably not a good idea.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Maybe after a Dodger loss tonight things start moving a bit more briskly. Any sox fan that wants Manny should be cheering for the Rockies hard this series. Won't be hard for me as they are my second favorite MLB team. Go get em Ubaldo!
  22. Ozzie is the antithesis of a love him or hate him guy. Go on any other boards and you will find people who hate the living s*** out of him, or thinks he's great for baseball cause of his antics. Some fans bases hate him a bit more (Detroit, Cleveland, LA for example) than others.
