  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) Definitely something to keep an eye on but 6 games is an awful lot to make up with 25 remaining and no head to heads left. I don't even think it's definitely. Tampa would pretty much have to go San Diego on us the next two weeks for us to have a shot. But hey.. I will literally keep "an eye" out, as in one.
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) There's no way to know if Thome would have helped us. All we know is that he wasn't a fit here for 4 years. He didn't fit in whatsoever. He never excited anybody, only made them cringe and pray for anything but a strikeout. If you think differently, I have to ask if you ever watched Sox baseball with a big group of Sox fans? If you weren't cringing or pulling hair out when Thome was up at crucial times, then...uh...what were ya doin??? Cheering confidently that Thome was gonna make that pitcher pay??? My ass. He came through like 1 outa 15 times; let his meaningless memory go. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) It's the #1 reason why I find myself still cheering for him even while he's sleeping with the enemy. It's utterly ridiculous. So here's what I did: I just started with the first game of the 2009 season (it's the most recent so it should be pretty fresh in everyone's memory) looking at Thome's HR logs and went through the first 2 or so months of the season looking for Thome HR that finished #1 in that particular game in WPA (ie: the most important hits of the game). Well it was 9 HR in until I got to June 1st and this is what I found: Bottom 8, Down 1, Runners on: 2 Bottom 6, Tied, Runners on: 1 Top 5, Down 1, Runners on: 1 Top 8, Down 2, Runners on: 1 Bottom 8, Tied, Runners on: 2 I don't get how a hitter goes about failing in every crucial situation but still finishes #1 or #2 on the club in WPA each year he was here: #1 in '07 and '09 and #2 in '06 and '08. I hardly ever say this (since I'm not a big fan of the word personally) but this is what you call getting PWNed ladies and gentlemen. Kalapse, still killing people..... with kindness.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) Yeah, Gartrell led the lead with 152. Not good obviously. Danks will have to show the ability to adjust his swing. It's the only way he'll make it. Gartrell has a better chance at this point than Danks does. You could use Gartrell as a LHP killer in the bigs. (ala Marcus Thames. or semi poor man's version of him) Danks does not have strong splits against righties or lefties (oddly enough, he hits LHP better albeit, only 133 ABs). Not saying Gartrell will ever make it, but it is what it is at this point unless Danks really adjust next season. He'll still be looked at based on his tools.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 03:37 AM) Holy. In RTTS, Sox have acquired: Yonder Alonso, Dominic Brown, David Wright, Michael Young, Derek Norris, Ryan Theriot, Mike Napoli, Shin Soo-Choo, Mike Leake, Boof Bonser, JC Romero, Jesse Crain, Renyel Pinto. Yet they are 29-35. The RTTS Ozzie must have batted Mark Kotsay in the 3 hole.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 12:00 AM) Gilbert by the Jets. Yikes... Rex Ryan will probably make the Bears front office look like idiots (more-so nationally than locally) if he uses Gilbert right/gets production out of him.
  6. Bears got back seven players on PS. LeFevour was claimed by the Bengals. (who have been snatching up guys he let go left and right it seems) Shaw was claimed by the Titans.
  7. Wow.... http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/1388856...rip-apart-cards I'm sure there will be threads here in the off-season asking what St. Louis wants for Rasmus. Never thought he would be available, but apparently hes as good as gone next year... or LaRussa will be done as a manager there.
  8. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) i lovbe you all!!!!!!!!! ev en jordan gfor liefe an d soxace i hate you&e posts but i love you bothy as sox fans i love youa alll muthaf***jsas go soooxxxxs bringf this thing hoooooooooooooooooooooooomaweeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... ha.
  9. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) lou piniella, bobby cox, dusty baker, tony larussa, best managers ever Yikes...
  10. QUOTE (typewritermender @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) I personally love Kenny & think he's one of the best GMs in the bigs. Keep KW, fire Ozzie. You don't think KW tried earlier in the season? As long as JR is the head boss, Ozzie has a life time pass unless he quits. In fact, I see KW re-signing sooner than Ozzie quitting.
  11. Whoa.. we won?!?! f*** yes! I left when Victor Martinez hit that 2 run homer, beyond pissed why Buehrle was left in to face a guy who hits much better from the right side. Glad we came back there. Hopefully I'll catch the reply tonight.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) Haha. Don't forget Jeremy Reed. This guy has it right. I love Reed (forever will since my 16 year old days and an autographed ball as a Baron), I only liked G. Jones as far as a LH cheap acquire when the sox rotating DH was sucking (so did fathom, pittshoganerkoff, pktmotion, lord chas etc..)
  13. What I love is you starting these game threads you sexy piece of ass.

Charlotte won 9-2 McCulloch Birmingham lost 10-5 (They faced Teheran) Long W-S Lost 2-0 in Game 1 DH. Axelrod W-S won 3-1 in Game 2 DH. Sauer Kanny lost 3-0 (they faced Julio Rodriguez, who is in the Philly system. He has been a straight phenom down there in low A.) Wickswat G-F won 10-5 Delk
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Huge 2-run homer for Uribe in the 9th tonight. Padres are falling apart. They are playing like how they were projected. 9 game losing streak now. Giants now are only 2 games back (3 back in the WC) and the Rockies are 5.5 games back. Amazing. I don't know what it is with the Rockies and miracle Septembers, but they seem to thrive at it. Might have to hold off those Bud Black manager of the year award here.
  16. Well that sucks. Lefevour (and Gilbert) has alot of upside. Maybe we'll still get one of them (more than likely Lefevour, I don't think Gilbert is eligible) and put em on the PS. I find it odd Beekman got cut too. But hey, our boy Rashied Davis gets to stay cause he's great at special teams and his fluke pre-season has Martz not quite know yet he has stone hands at WR! Looks like Chris Harris is going to start at FS too, like he did a few years ago with us, even though he was moved to SS at Carolina and was much, much better there. God I hate this organization. Also does suck they don't know that Major Wright is by far their best option at FS right now sadly cause he got injured the first pre-season game. (and he was very good in that game) Martz will also learn not to listen to Lovie when Cutler is throwing more to Aromashodu as his #1, not Devin Hester. I do like him keeping a couple of those young OL men and Josh Moore though. Some interesting names were cut by other teams as well. (I know some people here liked Myron Rolle who was cut by the Titans and Larry Asante who was cut by the Browns. Second rounder James Hardy was cut by the Bills, Dolphins cut Pat White and Patrick Turner. I'm sure they will clear waivers though and join their PS)
  17. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) He has put up fantastic numbers at home this season, and obviously that isn't all because of Coors. However, over his short career his numbers away from Colorado say he is a very average baseball player. Until he shows otherwise, I'm not marbles in on the "CarGo" hype. Agreed. The Rockies are my second favorite team in the MLB, I like CarGo alot, more than you Tony. But J4L's consistent over-ration of him makes me like him less and less by the day. No offense bro.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Ozzie managed the hell out this DH today too. :lolhitting He's had a great 4 or 5 games with that DH management.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) When was the last time we hit a batter, especially on purpose? We have been hit the 2nd most times, and hit someone the 2nd least amount. Ozzie lost his pair of balls a while ago when it comes to calling to have players hit. I was gonna say. I haven't seen an Ozzie team retaliate in years when a pitcher hits us. Usually it's when a guy hits us once or more... Hawk always says "He's gonna pay, maybe not this game or the next one, but in a series" and yet nothing happens.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) Lee is missing a start because of injury. The way he's been pitching lately, it's probably a good thing he's missing the start regardless.
  21. Cardinals release Matt Leinart. That was one of the oddest divorces I've seen in quite some time.
  22. Great win. I happen to see till the 7th, then for some unknown reason, I fell asleep and missed the 8th-9th. Glad we got the win though.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Bears waive Iglesias.... If I'm the St. Louis Rams, I would be all over this. Nice young receiver for Bradford to throw to in the future especially since they just lost their best receiver (Donnie Avery) for the season. Wouldn't be surprised if Iglesias thrives somewhere else.
