  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Anyone else watch the Hoff Roast? Greg Giraldo's Gary Coleman joke was fantastic. I saw the beginning of it when Lampanelli, Hamilton and Ross roasted him. Lisa Lampanelli was fantastic (she usually is). Ross was horrible. Hamilton was hit and miss. I'll try and catch the rest tomorrow as I'm sure they'll re-air it.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) I wouldn't call Rudy a sniper at all. I like him, but he seems to be pretty overrated. A high percentage of all his shots are 3's, and he doesn't hit them at that high of a clip, 38.7% in his 2 seasons while shooting 40.6% from the field as a whole. If 39% from three point range isn't considered "that high" especially when usually 40% from three is considered "good/very solid" than I would hate to see what "that low" means from your end. And Rudy's 41% from the field is there why? Because that's all he did was shoot threes in Portland's system. Of his 6.8 FG attempts, 4.3 of them were for threes. 4.3! and in his career, of his 7.5 FG attempts, 4.7 were from threes. Anyone's FG% would be low if they were taking nearly every shot from distance. Dude lit the lamp in his rookie year setting the rookie record. He was also better used when he had his Spanish PG distributing and was more spread out in Portland's playbook. Just for comparisons sake, Korver is a career 41% (lower than that before his ungodly year last year) three point shooter. Of his 5.4 FG attempts 2.1 were from three point attempts when he shot the best FG% from three ever. Last year it was 7.2 FG attempts, 3.4 from three. Hell Ray Allen is a career .396% (pretty much 40%) three point shooter. His three point attempts last year was 5.0 and he had 12.2 FGs attempted. Rudy has nearly equaled him in three point attempts while not even shooting more (overall, 2s 3s, whatever) than Ray. In other words, he has been used very poorly/incorrectly in Portland's system. If Steve Kerr or Brent Barry wants to hop on a time machine and come back 10-15 years younger to play for us, than I would be all for it. Or if New Jersey hates Morrow because he shoots too good, then cool beans, we'll take him.
  3. They draft well and develop well. And when someone gets hurt, they plug in someone else and not miss a beat.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Juan Pierre does not have a 22 game hitting streak. His hitting streak ended at 16. Steve Stone stands corrected then. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) Pena's ERA going to be over 5.50 after this inning. Can't wait until he's out of this organization, and we get an actual long man. Well Pena was not a long man to begin with. Sox left him out there to die alot this year.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) Keith Bogans is going to receive very limited playing time. People who are begging for all these secondary role players need to realize that there are only so many minutes to go around. At the SG/SF positions, you need to divide 96 minute between Brewer, Korver, Deng, Bogans, Rudy, Johnson and even Watson. Getting Rudy isn't really vital for future success, and getting yourself into a bidding war won't help. Ya, he's exciting to watch, but he's also inconsistent and has been complaining about playing time. Overpaying for him would be an incredibly dumb mistake. Keith Bogans right now is our second SG off the bench, plus Thibs likes him alot. (wanted him all off-season) And yes Rudy is that talented. If you get him, he SHOULD be starting. Got your sniper in Rudy, slasher in Deng, post up man in Boozer, and garbage putbacks by Noah, and Rose does what he does which can help his drive and kick game. Plus Brewer can be subbed in late (more energy consumed as well) to guard SG/SF late in quarters.
  6. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) I really hope we don't let Sale languish as the second lefty in the bullpen next year. There is 0 chance he'll be in the bullpen next year. Sox didn't draft a guy that high to be a middle reliever for his career.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I have more confidence in Pierre to get a hit right now than anyone on this team. That 22 game hitting streak is terrible isn't it?
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Do you really have that much confidence in Juan Pierre? Pierre actually has sucess with RISP and is a contact hitter. Alexei doesn't have great discipline. Runner on 3rd less than 2 out, I'm more comfortable with Alexei cause he can hit the ball to the OF.
  9. Ozzie has to learn Alexei can't always get the job done. I really hate giving up outs.
  10. The way J.J. has been pitching lately, he might be in the sox price range this off-season like others here want him to be resigned.
  11. Bulls need to stop f***ing around and get a deal done for Rudy. Let them have Charlotte's pick + if thats what it cost. This team is set for the future... and are in win now mode. They need every piece they can get that fits with Rose especially with D-Wade's super team around. Hopefully Gar/Pax doesn't blow it. Keith Bogans... yikes. (good defender though)
  12. Heidrenreich had 12 BBs in 22 IP last season. He only has 10 BBs in 65 IP this year. He has also increased his SO per. He'll move quickly up the sox prospect boards next season. Saladino last 10 games: .412/.524/.706/1.230. Really like this kid as a prospect. Brandon Short.. 8 BBs this month in only 36 ABs.
  13. To answer this thread... yes they are nerds, dorks, geeks, etc.. but... they are also highly respected... something you can't say about real life nerds/geeks/etc.. in schools where you can just pick on them or beat them up.. or ask to do your homework.
  14. Nice to see Martz using Aromashodu effectively. He's gonna be a favorite of mine to watch this year.
  15. I'm not as sold on Colvin than some others are (never was a fan of his even as a prospect) but I LOVE Andrew Cashner. If I was the Cubs, I'd see what kind of market there is for Marmol and see what package you can get for him. Cashner should be their closer of the future. They are fine up the middle with Dewitt and Castro and they have to hope Vitters develops and can solve their 3B position.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 11:21 PM) His 4 game stretch against Baltimore and Kansas City has kept his OPS at .759. Seriously. First 25 games - .310/.372/.352/.724 (78 PAs) 4 game stretch - .737/.750/1.105/1.855 (20 PAs) Since that time - .167/.220/.204/.424 (59 PAs) He's been adequate. I hope the Twins make him the 3Bman of the future, because he's really not that good. Probably a utility player. That's all they would need for him to be on that team for the forseeable future.
  17. Welcome the f*** back Mark Teahen! Thank god. You were sexy tonight as well Slayer.
  18. Valencia is gonna be nice little player. Got the 3B position locked up for the Twins in the future.
  19. Despite all the crap he's taken, Flowers still has a .340 OBP and a .804 OPS in AAA despite his low average. Escobar another 2 hit day. I was expecting him to hit next season with the Barons. Adjusting much quicker than I (and I'm sure even Dan and Jeff) thought. Jarrett Casey pitched 10 innings..
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Honestly, I'm just happy Kotsay's not hitting 5th or 6th. Ditto. That alone is a win in itself. Baby steps....
  21. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) He needs to talk to someone in NJ . :lolhitting :notworthy
