  1. I really hate that I called that, but it was damn near obvious that was going to happen. And I won't be surprised if nothing happens to Young in this series (or the season) either. Torii Hunter agrees.
  2. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) If Thome walks off here, Rongey is gonna have a very long night in radio. Wow.... I'm going to go buy lottery tickets now.
  3. If Thome walks off here, Rongey is gonna have a very long night in radio.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) His WAR should be around 3.5 now. Outstanding.
  5. Just like the Mark Teahen game, were going to call this the Alexei Ramirez game. (his WAR should increase alot BTW) If we win this, he is the reason why.
  6. Kotsay having one of his best nights in a sox uniform tonight.
  7. I think Favre is in the middle to be honest. He isn't near as bad as he was when he was with the Jets (or 05 GB) and he won't be near as good as he was with the Vikings last season. If he gives them even half of last year's numbers, I'm sure the Vikings will happily take that. I see a pattern though from Favre the last few years... 06- 56.0% Completion, 3,885 yards, 18-18 TD:INT 07- 66.5% Completion, 4,155 yards, 28-15 TD:INT 08- 65.7% Completion, 3,472 yards, 22-22 TD:INT 09- 68.4% Completion, 4,202 yards, 33-7 TD:INT 10- ??? He's had an average year followed by a good year the following season. So judging by that, I expect an average year for the 41 year old this comming season.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) Just off the top of my head, I'd take Scioscia, Gardenhire, Francona, Maddon, and Charlie Manuel over him. Add Bobby Cox to that list.. retiring or not.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) Favre is back. @Jay_Glazer - Brett Favre has told trio of vikings who came to persuade him to return that he is "back in" and is on plane back to minny now I for one am shocked...
  10. Hey now JPN has another prospect to watch!
  11. As long as Reinsdorf is the owner, Ozzie gets a free ride until he wants to quit. I could see KW leaving (resigning) before him in all honestly.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) I still don't understand how Duensing has been so successful, but I never understood how Joe Saunders could be an effective pitcher either. At the end of the day, they are, to varying degrees, so I can't argue. Other fans have said that about Mark Buehrle for years now.
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) Terry will be a junior at Cal St. Fullerton this year. He will be eligible in the 2011 draft. Not to mention Grimes has a very good chance to improve his draft stock in a couple years.
  14. Wow... Callis had me thinking we could get at least one of the two. I assumed we signed Terry and Grimes would walk, but it's very disappointing to not have both guys. (Grimes especially of course as a higher pick)
  15. Randy Orton was freaking amazing tonight. Man that dude is the s***.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Man, Charlie Leesman has been a completely different pitcher in AA. Bizarre really. I wonder what changed. If I had to bank, something the AA pitching coach saw mechanically and tweaked it. He probably got away with it in Kanny, but when he reached W-S, it was more exposed. Also has helped his control which is evident of his SO:BB ratio. Can't even blame the park either. He's pitching better away (though a small sample thus far) than he has at home. Viciedo 1-14, 5 SO since being sent back down.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) What could the Bulls offer? They'd have to include Noah as a minimum, and still include enough salary to make the trade work. Deng for sure (he might have his flaws, but he is still young and puts up solid numbers) + Taj/Noah probably + maybe picks (I'd give them both Charlotte and ours). That still might not be enough though. I'd give them anyone but Rose to get Melo basically. Not getting my hopes up even alittle on it though. New York would have to offer Gallo and Chandler for sure +. (they really do not have much and all their picks are gone) Melo is NY bound though if/when he walks.
  18. Major Wright to have surgery on his left index finger. He's probably out for the preseason.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) I wouldn't say 'no offensive support'. Just terribly inconsistent as of late. I meant hypothetically speaking. But yes agreed.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) I'm really excited to see that the Pirates signed Stetson Allie. I'm loving their future. They are gonna have another top 10 pick next year. They got a few ways to go there, but there are gonna be a very good team in the next 3-5 years if all goes right. I still would like to see them sign McCutchen to a Tulo/Braun type contract before he gets too expensive. But their front office said they are much different on how they handle their business (obviously their drafting indicates that with the guys top $$) so that's good news for Pirate fans.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) I don't. There's equal chance any of the 4 of them could s*** the bed in any given start No there is a better chance they pitch well, but they have no offensive support actually.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) Definitely. This has actually been a rather tame year for the AL as far as legitimate Cy Young candidates go. There's a lot of guys having really good years. But there's not one or two guys that jump out at you and say 'he's a lock.' You are right, no there isn't, which is why I'm disappointed Danks didn't get it going. He was in the conversation a couple starts ago, but since then has tailed off alittle. Might be the easiest year for any guy in the AL to win the Cy Young. Danks still has a chance however. Gotta improve on wins unfortunately which is what most people voting look at. His ERA is nice though and hopefully the sox can get 1st place which should help him also. Then again... that could be bigger leverage for Danks to get a bigger payday for an extension.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) He's a good, but not great shooter. A majority of his shots are 3's. All I'm saying is that I don't think we'd be dumb to not go get him. But we certainly would be dumb if we overpaid for him. Now this my friend.... I'm down with. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) When did I ever say he was garbage? I don't think I've said anything even close to that. I know, just throwing some of my own hyperbole back at cha. I'm just worried about the Bulls lack of a consistent threat for Rose to really optimize his potential. We were the second worst three point shooting team from last year, and we already lost Hinrich (who I hated anyways, but he was at least a threat from 3) and Miller/Salmons. We finally have a low post threat (thank god) in Boozer, but still did not address a glaring weakness. Korver can not do it all by himself, especially not starting (no we won't get starters minutes). We have to rely on Rose really improving (possible) and Deng. (who never strikes me as a guy who really works on his game anyway) Brewer can't do it (though it's not all his fault, cause of that injury in his childhood) Bogans/Watson are meh, Johnson probably won't play much and the rest are bigs who are non threats at all. And as much as we all love Derrick, we can't have him just jacking up alot of 3s all season.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) Putting numbers in bold won't help your argument. I like Rudy. I don't like that he takes a ton of 3's. And I wouldn't want to overpay for him. And putting him in the same breath as Ray Allen, Steve Kerr, and Brent Barry is just wrong. Allen is one of the best pure shooters ever amd Kerr shot over 45% from 3 in his career. And all 3 had field goal % over 45% for their career. Thats all you got Slav? I put them in bold to show the large difference in what I was saying about him and his three point attempts, not because I was trying to "help my argument" its facts. When your shooting 39% and your FG% is 41% obviously there is more to that (wow.. like taking 8/10 of your shots from 3 perhaps is it... hmmm). And take your hyperbole crap out of here. I never mentioned Kerr, Barry or Allen in the "same sentence" in fact I was saying I would love Kerr or Barry to somehow go into the past and come back 10-15 years younger to help us (or for NJ to trade Morrow here). Your acting like I said Rudy was as good as those guys as a shooter who were both 41% and 45% respectively. (simply ridiculous BTW) And I was showing Allen's career 40% as an example of your ridiculous post about Rudy's 39% being "not that high." You said it, live with it. The only "semi" comparison I made was from Kyle Korver since he is now with us and had a crazy year from downtown last year. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) And this might be a dumb question, but what records did Rudy break as a rookie? Already late for that... but Rudy broke the three point record for Rookies as in.. most 3 pointers made during the regular season. And BTW, I agree with you he has been overrated by Bulls fans... ALOT. That doesn't mean though that he's garbage.
