  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:17 AM) You have to figure without PK and Q hitting this year, you're not going to win anything anyways. So there is nothing lost but $2M to Thome if you bring him back and things don't work out because the lineup is too old and crotchety. I would like to point out that I didn't want Thome back either cause I wanted more speed/versatility as well which I agreed with Badge on. The only reason I wanted Thome back (I believe it was around February) was KW still didn't get another bat which most of us thought he would do. When the Damon rumors hit, I don't think anyone here was even talking about Thome cause we actually had a shot (or thought we had a shot) of signing Damon. There were only some posters here that wanted Thome back from the START. Some jumped in around December, some around January, etc..
  2. QUOTE (goblue5699 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) I think it's pretty unfair to criticize the Mitchell pick. I wasn't even that big of a fan (like fathom for example was, though I didn't mind it at all) of the pick, and wouldn't bash it. It is pretty asinine to do so when the guy has missed the season.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) Maybe I just got tired of the slow White Sox line up, with the strike out or home run mentality. Maybe I just wanted some change and felt that even if Thome may be the better hitter, he just brought nothing else and if he wasnt hitting hes a waste of space. See that is the thing too badge. I agree with you. But I've long said I don't think anyone would had complained if it was Kubel and Cuddyer platooning at DH for us than Kotsay/Jones. I think fathom and/or Kalapse mentioned Branyan and Gomes. I like the speed/versatility at the DH spot than most.. but I would also like it if my hitter had a good OBP with a good OPS and average you know... a good history prior.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) This year? Williams by a landslide, Linebrink and Kotsay a distant third. Yea. Randy Williams and it isn't even close for me. Teahen though gets ripped constantly (even when he doesn't play) and I am still stunned by it. Reminds me of the Swisher hate that I'll never understand. (not talking defense, which I can understand) Pierre is my whipping boy, and I rip him alot (and would still rip him) but now I can't because I said I wouldn't till the ASB after he broke up Lilly's no hitter. (that one thread about a new lead-off hitter is killing me to not post in BTW.. )
  5. J.J. Putz and his arm/velocity is back. Incredible to see.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) His bat looked slow, he looked like he was done. Its just really easy right now to second guess the decision. Yet there was many of us calling to bring back Thome in January/February when we knew KW was not gonna go out and get another bat, but stick with the Kotsay/Jones platoon which many here knew was a bad idea. I even warned people about Jones hot start to go down because he did the same thing last year with Texas and wanted him traded when he was still hitting in the .270s (.900+ OPS, etc..) but of course didn't happen. And I'm sure the Twins and their scouts are also glad they didn't listen to you badge regarding Thome. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) I just think Ozzie (who watched the guy every day) didnt think he had much left in the tank. Yet the fans knew he was wrong, but of course we don't "know the game" cause we didn't play it in the big leagues.. This is the same guy who loved Wise especially considering his sample size in 08 (I think it was 08) to bring him back and bat him lead-off. Ozzie is not the best evaluator of talent, especially when you rather have a guy steal 50 bases than hit 50 homeruns. Don't worry though, plenty of blame needs to go to KW as well.
  7. Santeliz... 1 IP 7 H 7 R 7 ER 2 BB 0 SO Yikes. Jose Martinez 1-4, 2B, R in his W-S debut.
  8. I still think he'll re-sign in Cleveland, purposely bulls***ting the world. The only thing holding that back completely (which I like) is Delonte West is still on the team.
  9. It's great to see even with Beckham sucking, his OBP is still higher than Credes.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) I don't give a rat's ass if Danks isn't able to be extended, his value on the open market right now would net ATLEAST 2 premium prospects. He has 2 full years of service beyond this year and, assuming he doesn't fall completely off the face of the earth, he will net draft pick compensation of some form (and it will probably be Type A compensation). As such, trading for Danks right now adds 2 and a half years of full service time PLUS two top 65 draft picks in the 2013 draft. Fielder is good, but trading Danks now virtually destroys any chance the Sox have of making it to the postseason this season. Add to that fact that you would get one more year out of Danks than you would Fielder, and giving up 3 talented young players on top of it makes it asinine. Preach.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) He has good numbers with a high 90s fastball. They're going to push him because his stuff is better. Yep. Sox org really, really likes Infante's arm.
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) You can't really see anything in those gifs besides him obviously in tons of pain. Yea... other than the second gif where his freaking thumb/hand was twitching.
  13. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Jim Thome just hit a triple Saw it on the Twins main site. No doubt that will be the last triple that big man will ever hit. (though I thought the one he hit in 2004 was gonna be the last one. )
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) Two, it's not like Lebron is 31 or 32 and in a position that he has to sacrifice individual glory for the sake of a title (like the Celtics trio did). Wade's got a ring already. And he obviously didn't need Lebron for that. If Lebron were to win a ring with Wade it would be more like no s***. You better f***ing damn well win a ring with an undisputed top 5 player in the league who's in his prime and already won one without you. You also have to remember the other 2 were traded for by Ainge, not signed as FA. And he took alot of flack from it because all three at that time needed the ball in their hands to be effective. All I'm saying is noone should think that two of the best players in the NBA are gonna be selfish enough to not defer to the other. But not even those two can play 48 minutes a game because Miami still needs role players even if they get Bosh with those two. As fathom said, Miami is really the only threat Bulls fans should really be scared of in this process, even if LeBron stays in Cleveland. (plans B,C and D can easily fail with them in the market too) QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:37 AM) That's a decent point. But if it's about being "most loved" then the Cavs definitely have the upper hand there. Well them and New York. LeBron would own that city without even playing one minute for them sadly.
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:21 PM) Well if all 3 go to Miami then it wont matter who we get and I wont care because the NBA will be dead to me for the next 5-10 years. It would be terrible for Kobe and the NBA no doubt. That is why I like when LeBron (and others) said earlier in the process that they were gonna do "what is best for the NBA."
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Lebron is not going to play with Wade. People keep saying this.. not that I don't agree with it cause I do... but it isn't too far-fetched to think the man would do anything to get a ring, even play with a guy almost as good as you, legacy or not. I never thought Pierce, Garnett and Allen would ever co-exist with one basketball, but they made it work. I still think he won't go there however, but if Miami somehow trades Beasley... things might get more interesting.

    Insanity

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:53 PM) G, How much work does it do on your upper body and back? It fluctuates on different days. Some days your working on your upper body and others on the lower etc.. I mean it is hard, but it is at your own pace on what you do, but you have to keep up. It is good sores you get from it, not painful ones (well.. I had painful ones as I landed on my feet wrong on some exercises or did some wrong and such). I can't say if it's as similar as P90X as I've only seen a couple of programs from it, but you will be tired... to the Max. I'm sure Rock can also get some good feedback as he is currently doing both. I like how he said a few post up to use P90X as a stepping stone to this program. I didn't of course, but I'm hung in there and I haven't been in this good of a shape since my senior year in high school. (though I'm much stronger, but still more fat and still have to work it off) I mean it is just a ridiculous program and you really have to man up to do it.

    Insanity

Well... I've slacked off for about 5 days so I just got back into the program. This week is suppose to be my last week on the Insanity program, but I will probably do an extra week to kind of balance out the days I've missed. No doubt this program has changed my body and life entirely. Still got some work to do after it is said and done, but I really like the results I'm seeing. This is truly an Insane program. You think P90X is hard, try doing this program and living to tell about it. (not "literally" of course, but thats how crazy it is)
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) hello I was hoping you would be all over this thread.
  20. I honestly think if Steve Stone wasn't employed by the sox org., he would definitely be saying something about Ozzie and the lack of playing time for Dayan, like he did with Sweet Lou and Colvin. I mean it is probably killing him now to stay quiet about it.
  21. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Don't get too excited there, Ace. Well I'm soured on him enough as a prospect on potential alone, but thought he would be a nice sleeper to have a big year, then move on to AAA and perhaps trade bait. Whats going on over there John? pitching around him in a weak lineup?
  22. My god.... 1 day 23 hours, 29 mins from this post till FA.
  23. QUOTE (goblue5699 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Morel is 3/4 today, average up to .250 now. Apparently both Charlotte and Buffalo forgot how to pitch today. Alot of players had monster games. My sleeper prospect Gallagher the last 10 games: .345/.558/.517/1.075 13:3 BB/SO ratio.
