Sox vs Atlanta 6-23 game thread 7:05 first pitch, CSN
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Man, Beckham isn't even taking a walk anymore. I wasn't harsh on him earlier like most because he was still getting on base with his walk rate, but now he is swinging at garbage when he has 3 balls __ strike. -

Keep the banner, keep southsider starting game threads, keep the doubt of this team IMO. We are playing well with all of this. -

See Beckham... if Quentin can find it.. you can. BTW, I think Cox left Huddy in one inning too long IMO. -

Buehrle... -
Can't say I was happy about this (me and a couple of buddies spent 5 silent minutes hearing it was Buff who is one of my favorite players on the team) but we knew he could have been an option. Hopefully the guys we got back are pretty good. I'll read more tonight though about prospect reports and all. Thanks for everything Big Buff.

Chris Sale signs for a bargain; expected in majors this year

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) A prime photo showing the stain he puts on his arm. Yuck. I hope he stays healthy. Looks like he is on the Alex Ernst plan of dieting. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) KHP, I agree that the Sox need somebody else at 3B. We can agree to disagree on everything else. I've had enough of your childish prose and personal attacks. I usually don't agree with you much on stuff, but you have been pretty much money on this whole issue today.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) You just can't say the NL is bad when they're playing good games against us, which has definitely happened. I guarantee that most teams would find it very hard to go 3-0 on Strasburg, Martin, and Hanson like we just did. If all NL rotations were like that then people would be saying the AL is the weaker league. You saying we beat Strasburg is really starting to bother me. We did not beat Strasburg. We either beat their bullpen or we just swept the Nats, which is fine, but Stras was not the reason why they lost. (not to mention didn't even receive a loss in his start) And I think even the friggin Orioles/Pirates can beat a pitcher who was only throwing basically one pitch the entire game which Hanson was doing.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) WC Sox has presented some good stats how Teahen was actually OK compared to other guys' performances He has been money today with his post. Much better than yesterday.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) i heart troy murphy whats his contract status like Balta posted the site a few posts up. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) The Blazers turned down the #4 pick for Batum. http://twitter.com/chadfordinsider I don't understand this from either side at all. Wow. And I think many knew Gadzuric was going to be traded. Skiles was not a fan of his.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Name the contracts you want to take back. I would gladly take a big like Foster back, but I don't think saving only 3 mil would be THAT significant of a price so perhaps your right. I still think they'll trade Ford or Tinsley + Watson. Troy Murphy has also been thrown around a ton in trade talks as a stretch the floor 4 guy. I doubt anyone takes Dunleavy Jr.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) He's got some value in a utlity role like your proposing, assuming you have several right-handed hitters at the corners, just not enough to warrent his contract. Unfortunately, I'm worried Kenny will peg him as a regular. I actually like him used more than just utility, but I think he should play less 3B and more DH with his bat, though I don't know about Quentin too. (mostly cause his defense in RF hasn't been very good also) I like Teahen, and think he gets a bad rap at times... reminds me of the Swisher hate actually.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Eh, I wouldn't go posting pictures of people on the site. Apparently you missed the pictures of yourself (sometimes with friends/family) thread a while back here. I still remember who other people here look like as I'm sure others do as well. (some I've met personally here in Chicago)
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) He may be on the team because of his salary but that doesn't mean he has to be on the field. So your saying DH work with the occasional 3B every now and then? Works for me.

QUOTE (CSF @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Jon Gilmore won the Carolina/California League HR Derby: Paging Jeff... I said it before.. I LOVE that they have Nunez back in the bull-pen. De Aza has been amazing for Charlotte since he's been back. They have had a sox-like win streak themselves. (won 6 of their last 7, and 5 in a row)

QUOTE (Real @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) try 3 games Damn that much from the Tigers? Well I guess that is kinda good seeing we can catch them and the Twins in the same week if it comes to that.

Sox vs Atlanta 6-22 game thread 7:10 first pitch
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
I would like to add that prior to the first couple of innings, I saw the entire game. (yes even the 5 run inning) -
How far are we from the Tigers? 1 or 1.5 game(s)? I want to pay attention to them first to jump over before I think about the Twins.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Viciedo also sucked balls last season. Agreed that he's looked nice over this very small sample size, but there's still little evidence that he's ready for the bigs. Numerous Sox prospects have raked for several years in the minors/college and have struggled big-time in Chicago. Throw Viciedo's age and your assesment that he won't hit RHP effectively into the equation and I see little reason to bring him up right now. Let him have a sustained year of success first. Given that he's unlikely to help this hapless team this year, his development should be paramount. That said, letting him face major-league pitching when the rosters expand later in the year might not be a bad idea. You are way all over the place with this post, with alot of hyperbole mixed into it. "sucked last season" "very small sample size" "little evidence?" I will agree with the last sentence that I also see no reason to rush him up and the full year in AAA might have helped, etc.. but if Buddy Bell and the sox org. think he is ready (especially against LHP which is alot of evidence in both AA and AAA he is ready for them) then I trust their judgment (I didn't think Beckham was ready last year despite hitting like .290 especially with limited PA in the minors but he was impressive though this year is another story [i'm sure people will blame whoever for that]).

Braves when scoring five or more runs won 42 straight prior to tonight. That streak ends for them. Offense is really comming on. I did say if they take 2/3 from Atlanta I will "keep my eye on" much more on this team.
