  1. Quentin looks very healthy scoring from second to home.. nice slide and nice 2 OUT RBI single by Konerko. 1-0 good guys.
  2. Bring the Milwaukee Brewers back to the AL!!!
  3. No Rick Astley to piss off everyone?
  4. This stretch might get ugly fast.... Deng out "a while" Gibson possibly out as well. I guess the only bright spot(s) is James Johnson can finally play some god damn minutes, not to mention see if the Bulls sink or swim and to shut down Noah the whole year or not.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) I loved Kaner's attempt at a Savvy special. Wish he would had made that afterwards. That was sweet for sure.
  6. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) A Cubs guy, not sure how much he loves SouthSiders. He loves Ozzie, and always says nice things/points about the sox. He is a Cub homer, but he isn't "David Kaplan" territory at that. (cept the Ozzie love) A true analyst.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) Well it was a pretty stupid way of putting it, but yeah, he's right, black Latinos and black Americans are 2 different cultures and blacks here tend to not want to play baseball - at least for kids growing up in the 90s and earlier this decade, anyway. He is right, even Ozzie agreed with him. BTW, here is the quote you were looking for.. it was mostly the Astros not having ANY black players which I never knew they didn't that year.
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) Flowers is a s*** prospect compared to Smoak, and Davis is going to break out. No way in HELL they trade either one for a crappy return like Flowers or AJ. Come on. I wouldn't go THAT far especially considering catching prospects are much more valuable than 1B prospects especially when you have alot of stud 1B spects out there. Catching prospects take much more time to develop unless your name is Joe Mauer, but Smoak is a stud though. If your talking Smoak, Texas would probably prefer pitching back. So ya.. Hudson and go from there. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) Welcome to the forum Knackattack. Don't stress, Kalapse is our poster of the year, and he owns everyone on this forum, including you on this one. :-) Meh.. qwerty and cheat (once upon a time) were just as good (some would say better and I LOVE Kalapse.. ) but thats just my personal opinion.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I don't understand the reasoning behind his reassignment if they were still to use him in games. So you thought he had a shot at the MLB roster? I was only shocked they announced it this early. Usually top prospects don't make the announcement official til a bit later. What the real question should be is if Mitchell should be in A+ or AA. Phegley and Gonzalez were obvious especially with Flowers, Lucy, Castro and others ahead of them. I guess thats why Jared wasn't around since he isn't as advanced as Danks, Flowers, Hudson, etc..
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Yes. I was lucky enough to watch the Dodgers and Indians square off in the fields in the back. I believe sportsnite also had a preview of the Sox, and the Dodgers were literally like 5 feet away from the sox on the other field training.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Isn't minor league ST on one of the many other fields in the Camelback Complex? I believe so yes.
  12. Great read Dan. Ya Leesman is a guy I like alot, especially with the increased velocity on his fastball from where he was drafted to now. One guy who wasn't mentioned who is worth keeping an eye on as well is Santos Rodriguez. Dude can really dial it up himself. Still raw, but is an interesting prospect. Should be interesting to see not only if he fills out his 6'5 frame, but if the sox like him as a SP or RP.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) He'll probably still get some occasional at bats, especially late in ST when the roster decisions are made. Yea he probably will. Even if you get re-assigned, you can still stick around until the final couple days of ST I believe. I remember a couple years back Gomes (the Brazilian prospect) was re-assigned, but a couple days later he came on to pinch run and play the OF in a game. Minor league ST is a bit away as well. Hell I don't believe rosters have even been set by the org. yet. I don't know if Mitchell will play any games here scheduled, but say a B game.. perhaps.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Every White Sox started but Vizquel and Rios have reached base. Now every one except Vizquel has reached/has a hit. Randy Williams 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 SO.. nice outing for him. Hudson made one bad pitch to Chavez, which made his outing seem meh.
  15. After his combine, if he fell to the Bears in the third... I hope they take him. They have a knack of taking players from Abilene Christian as well. Would be a good way to rebuild that OL.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) The video was taken at the end of January, '09. Well.. a year ago.. (still a while back) but it was posted before here..
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) Who was imitating him? Gar Ryness, known as the batting stance guy. (which a poster said prior) Pretty old video actually.. (08' I believe) it was posted before on this site.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) 3 cuts today. Catchers Miguel Gonzalez and Josh Phegley, and OF Jared Mitchell were reassigned to minor league camp. 52 left in camp. "Well you were crushing the ball this spring Jared.. in order for you to not stay hot, were gonna send you down early." He was going down anyway, just shocked it is this early, as usually the sox give prospects a longer look in camp. Perhaps they already know his A+ or AA fate though.
  19. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:53 AM) Yup you were right. Threets has a horrible K/BB rate and control issues. I guess another reclamation project for Coop. I know he can´t fix everyone but maybe this guy is another Thorton type project? What is his best pitch? I am guessing power fastball right? Fastball for sure, even he would say that.. though his slider is nasty too. It fact.. he always threw pretty hard (94+, can really dial it up) but his control is always an issue not to mention he's quite an enigma (great stuff.. but doesn't get the K's). I'm willing to give Randy Williams the benefit of the doubt though. As a LOOGY, he was effective, though a small sample size last season. Last three years even Williams K rate has gone up from the minors to now, though he's also not the best control pitcher either. We'll see.
  20. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) Apart from Thorton do you think we will be weak from the left side in the bullpen? Well when your choices are Williams and Threets, it leaves alot to be desired.. but they are serviceable for LOOGY roles specifically. I personally hope the younger Threets somehow wins the job, but that also depends on his control. Santos didn't help him the other day inheriting a run charged to him the other day.
  21. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:37 AM) too bad milwaukee owns the right to swap first round picks with us for the upcoming draft after the warrick - salmons trade It's top 10 protected, so unless we finish 11th or so.. were fine. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:37 AM) But John wall plus D rose? that would be a good consolation prize if we don't land d wade over the summer. I personally wouldn't want that, and IMO, the Bulls would have to choose to either draft Wall, and decide to trade Derrick (highly doubt they have the balls to trade the hometown guy, and they have to decide if Wall projects better/is the better player.... ouch...), trade the pick, or pass on Wall and draft Turner. (that should be interesting as he and Rose had "beef" in high school) I highly, highly doubt that the Bulls will ever win the lottery again (cough.. Stern wouldn't do that again before NJ, NY, etc... cough), but as of right now.. don't want to think about that either as we are still not in the top 10, and still in the playoff hunt. And great game today by Derrick (and D. Williams) Nice to see people making shots for Rose (and Miles jacking up Williams' assist stats.. )
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) I don't find that question to be inconsiderate at all. I think the answer is no though, they'd have probably spent the money somewhere else. Yea I'm mixed on it.. Personally you could also ask if JA never makes that deal (to lose the 2nd rounder), does he get Julius anyway.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) One day they'll realize they have talent. If they get can Volquez healthy and Chapman up to the majors later this season (I think I read somewhere there is something in his contract which means you probably won't see him until Mid May at the earliest), they'll have a shot at making a 2nd half run IMO. The Cardinals still have to be a very strong favorite though obviously. Agreed. Chapman is as good as advertised BTW. I thought he would be all arm (honestly thought his velocity wasn't as advertised either, then he's throwing 100+ mph bombs to hitters shutting me up), no control, but he's been the opposite. If Volquez returns to form, they got a nice nucleus of young pitching in the future (Volquez, Cueto, Chapman, Bailey, Leake etc..)
  24. Tony Pena is quietly having a nice spring so far.
