  1. Nice pickup. They lose their 20th draft pick but should make up for it when Gonzalez and Soriano sign somewhere. Unless they accept arbitration. http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/transactio...ansactionid=256
  2. What do pre-arbitration players make? Is there a wage scale?
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Here's a list of most of the bad contracts in baseball. I left off bad deals that teams obviously aren't going to want to trade, like Torii Hunter, Jeter, etc. as well as bad deals where the trading team has already eaten a large portion of salary, making the deal no longer a bad one (like Lugo for example). Of what is here, is there anything that makes sense for the Sox with Linebrink and Paulie? Is there anything that makes sense for another team? Some of these deals are better than others, but feel free to mix and match because they all suck. KW and Josh Byrnes have traded alot in the past 2. Eric Byrnes is a former Moneyball Player 3. He's a grinder. I prefer to keep Linebrink. I think he'll turn it around. I think we'd have to dump Jenks or Konerko in order to afford Byrnes.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 26, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) We've missed the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years ( two of those years being sub .500). And thank god that kid called heads (I think it was heads) when determining who would get homefield in the event of a tiebreaker game (I think it's safe to assume we get slaughtered if we have to play the tiebreaker game in Minny). I give Kenny all the credit in the world for putting the '05 team together. And I think he's a good GM. But I wouldn't say he's kept us around the top. We missed the playoffs but KW has put together good teams IMO. The players just haven't come through. I personally love KW as our GM and would hate to see him go.

  6. Doesn't one of the mods do a jpg each month? Interested in doing the whole year? I'll send you one.
  7. I want a large schedule I can hang in my basement, the type you see at the bars. Does anyone know where you can buy one? If not, can anyone do the graphics for one? I'll print one for you and mail it to you!
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) B&B seemed more fair to soxnet than i thought they'd be, seeing as how Cowley is their guy. Boers in particular has indicated in the past that he detests message boards (though much like Bob Dole not having seen Trainspotting, I would think he's attacking something he's never experienced). If anyone DOES wanna get back to the trade talk...perhaps look at this old article about what was netted for Sabathia. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...sabathia-trade/ I'm kind of curious what people think about the haul Cleveland got for a guy who was a rental (plus moved at the deadline). How does that package compare to what we'd need to give up for AGon? ndians Receive: Matt Laporta- $23.5 million Rob Bryson- $5 million Taylor Green- $7 million Zack Jackson- $1 million Total- $36.5 million What are the dollar amounts? Frangraph's values?
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 06:45 PM) No. I know Adrian is a better player but we'd only have him for two years and we would have yet another hole on the offense we'd have to fill. We'd have Gonzalez for 3 years. There is an option for 2012.
  10. What if Beckham was going to the Padres? Would you still pull the trigger?
  11. QUOTE (KevinM @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Yeah, not buying it. I'm guessing the Angels aren't jumping at the bit to get a mediocre, overpaid first baseman while also ensuring that one of their fellow AL contenders gets a far better player at the same position. Why wouldn't they just go after Gonzalez? Any package we put together could easily be trumped (save me the 7-8 player package KHP, it's not realistic). Maybe the Angels didn't know the White Sox were going to flip their prospect to the Padres, until this report blew KW's cover
  12. Think Konerko would waive his no-trade clause?
  13. I added an RSS aggregation system to fan-exchange.com. As the feeds come in I associate them with the teams they are talking about or a particular transaction they are talking about (trade, signing, etc.). I thought this would be a cool way to see when other sites talk about us. I also like to read as much as I can about any particular transaction that occurs, especially from other fan boards. Here is the link for the White Sox news: http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/news.asp?franchid=CHW Here is a link regarding the Teahen trade: http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/news.asp?transactionid=53
  14. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) PS what is it with the Sox and all this "gap hitter" nonsense? This team needs some f***ing power. We already have the King of Gap Hitters and we just moved him to 2B. I'm assuming the theory is that gap hitters will be more consistent than homerun hitters and the Sox need more consistency at the plate. Just my assumption.
  15. I'd take Casey Kotchman instead. He'd cost less, is younger and could probably outproduce Overbay.
  16. QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) $4M?!? Where'd that number come from? If we're really wanting to dump Linebrink I could see swapping him and still getting some money back for Byrnes. Could turn out to be a wash since rumors are AZ is willing to just dump his $11M salary. There's worse options out there IMO. He's got a lot to prove this year so might not be a bad option. Plus....he's "grindy". I was assuming AZ would eat some of Byrnes salary. $4mil may be a stretch.
  17. Byrnes , Dejesus and Murton all interest me. More Byrnes and Dejesus than Murton. Good gloves and solid bats. Both would cost ~$4mil
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Well, Kenny has talked up Jordan Danks. Kenny's probably hyping him up so he can trade him. He's waiting for his brother to sign his extension first.
  19. Makes sense to me. If you have two players that play the same position and both have killer springs, rotate them from the field to dh.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Thanx. So Konerko would have to waive his no trade clause and who would be willing to add that kind of salary AND give up a player ? Sure seems like KW has to be creative or Jerry raises the payroll to get other pieces to this puzzle. The only other huge salaries are Peavy, Buerhle, & Rios. Possible destinations: Angels, Mariners, Giants and I'd even say the A's. I'm pretty sure they all have money to spend, especially the Mariners. Mariners could definitely use the hitting. I'd take Lowe for Konerko straight up
  21. QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) This is a shock to me. Not the acquisition of Tehean, but the statement that we will play 3B. Bechkham was developing nice over there and now he has to go to 2B to learn a new position. If anything you would want to move Beckham to SS and Alexi to 2B wouldnt you. Plus you would think Tehean fits in much better rotating through the RF/DH role, allowing the sox to pursue figgins, hudson, or polanco for true defense and leadoff hitter. With him at 3B and saying Pods wont be back that basically means they have the RF/DH hole to fill with a leadoff hitter/obp guy, something that very tough to do. I doubt anything is written in stone. Sox could still pickup a 2B or 3B and move Teahen.
  22. Good recap on Teahen http://bleacherreport.com/articles/285173-...o-the-white-sox
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Since PODS is not coming back our outfield has a hole, who will we fill it with? I would move Quentin to RF then put a huge wall 290 feet out in left field like the Red Sox have so you don't need a good player out there.
  24. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) I've been toying around with something. Last offseason, one of the huge rumors was Teahen to the Cubs for Fontenot and Marshall. If we did that, got a solid lefty-bench bat, and a lefty-spot starter (with a heart-breaking curve) who can work out of the pen.... would we be encouraged? Is this possible? Cubs would have to deal Bradley first. I'd be for it. Spin those two players in a package for AGon.
