QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) 1. I think everyone here dislikes this trade because theyre comparing teahan and dye if KW goes out and gets a bopper you then compare getz to teahan which while getz looks like he can be a pretty good scrappy young player with teahan youve got a guy that i see putting up atleast 15/65. Everyone needs to wait to see how this offseason rolls out. 2. It'd be nice to have 5 stud starters but once you hit the postseason you dont really need 5 so if you can trade floyd or danks to bring in an adrian gonzalez i do it in a heartbeat. Hell Id be fine with seein carlos torres out there every 5th day if it means we got a young lefty bat that can give us 40 homers and 100+ RBI. 3. Sure it has the potential to be a bad deal in 3 or 4 years but would you trade a legit WS contending team for the next 2 or 3 years for a year or 2 of a potentially bad contract? 4. Nick Johnson is just a cheap dream i think a lot of us have on this board have. the man has a career .402 career OBP you can not say that wouldnt look sexy in the 2 spot of our lineup. Plus he'd be our DH in my lil offseason so thi risk for injury is A LOT less. Interesting points. I'm wondering if we have the talent to land Gonzalez though. Seems like we would be up against LAD and BOS and both of them have deeper farm systems than we do, at least from what I've read.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) 1. We should start off by canceling this deal for Teahen since he's not worth his contract. 2. I'd love Adrian, but I wouldn't give up Floyd or Danks. They can have Hudson and all the prospects they want, and if they won't take that, then we look elsewhere for a bat. 3. Chone Figgins at 4+ years or whatever he's going to get has the potential to be a pretty bad deal. Once his speed declines he's essentially a glorified bench player. 4. Nick Johnson can't be counted on. He should be pretty far down on our list this offseason. Agreed

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:22 PM) You can't file for free agency with 5.155 years of service, 2010 will be his 3rd year of arbitration eligibility because he was a Super Two player. I read it wrong. I saw that he had avoided arbitration twice so I figured he had one more year.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) Wow, what does this mean for Jason Bay? Edit: Marlins got two nice arms for a potential non-tender guy. My thoughts exactly (re: bay).

QUOTE (striker62704 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) I believe 2010 will be his second year of arbitiration eligibility. So we have him under control for 2 year. I stand corrected. This is his last year of arbitiration. So he's a free agent after 2010. http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2004/12/k...-royals_28.html

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Sorry if this has been asked, but what is Teahen's contract status? I believe 2010 will be his second year of arbitiration eligibility. So we have him under control for 2 year.

Abreu re-ups with Angels per MLBTR http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/11/ange...obby-abreu.html Good thing we already got our LH power bat

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) I'm really not a fan of the opening of that lineup. Becks just doesn't belong in the leadoff slot; you're going to cost him so many RBI opportunities by putting him there. As written now we don't have a better option, but that is something we need to fix somehow. I like Beckham at the 3 hole.

I wonder if KW does this stuff because he loves to keep his fans engaged. Could you imagine how boring the offseason would be if we were fans of any other team (except the Yankees and Red Sox who make alot of moves)?

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) [/b] Yes. Who steals a base? Who leads off? TBD. It's November 5th not April 5th.

What scenario would you rather have? 3B Beltre SS Ramirez 2B Beckham or 3B Beckham SS Ramirez 2B Polanco Just curious.
-
What Kenny acquired was a versatile LH bat. The guy can play like 5 positions. That means we can put Teahen at 2B and try and sign a RF. Or put Teahen in RF and try and sign a 2B. Teahen is no star but I bet he'll perform better with a change of scenery. Interesting that KW picked up another underachieving 1st rounder.

I'd offer 4 years $18mil with a 5th year option at $12mil.

Alot of people didn't think Beckham was ready either. I'm not saying Danks is ready, I'm just saying. I think it takes a great spring training and take that into June for us to consider bringing him up. And even then he'd have to have a spot available.
-
I think it could be an AL west team too, like the Mariners or A's. They both could use the offense. Not sure if I'd call that division mediocre though.

Heading should have had a question mark. My bad. Mods, can you change that?

http://www.presstelegram.com/moresports/ci_13692288 Would be interesting if it was the Sox.

Just curious, would anyone trade Danks or Floyd straight up?

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) THat's an interesting idea. While that idea may or may not work, what they should TRY to do is find a way to make the park more of a "community" outside the park. Find a way to bring a neighborhood style to a bland ballpark community. My thoughts exactly. Vendors would being uniqueness that you otherwise couldn't get at your neighborhood mall.
