  1. What if Beckham was going to the Padres? Would you still pull the trigger?
  2. QUOTE (KevinM @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Yeah, not buying it. I'm guessing the Angels aren't jumping at the bit to get a mediocre, overpaid first baseman while also ensuring that one of their fellow AL contenders gets a far better player at the same position. Why wouldn't they just go after Gonzalez? Any package we put together could easily be trumped (save me the 7-8 player package KHP, it's not realistic). Maybe the Angels didn't know the White Sox were going to flip their prospect to the Padres, until this report blew KW's cover
  3. Think Konerko would waive his no-trade clause?
  4. I added an RSS aggregation system to fan-exchange.com. As the feeds come in I associate them with the teams they are talking about or a particular transaction they are talking about (trade, signing, etc.). I thought this would be a cool way to see when other sites talk about us. I also like to read as much as I can about any particular transaction that occurs, especially from other fan boards. Here is the link for the White Sox news: http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/news.asp?franchid=CHW Here is a link regarding the Teahen trade: http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/news.asp?transactionid=53
  5. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) PS what is it with the Sox and all this "gap hitter" nonsense? This team needs some f***ing power. We already have the King of Gap Hitters and we just moved him to 2B. I'm assuming the theory is that gap hitters will be more consistent than homerun hitters and the Sox need more consistency at the plate. Just my assumption.
  6. I'd take Casey Kotchman instead. He'd cost less, is younger and could probably outproduce Overbay.
  7. QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) $4M?!? Where'd that number come from? If we're really wanting to dump Linebrink I could see swapping him and still getting some money back for Byrnes. Could turn out to be a wash since rumors are AZ is willing to just dump his $11M salary. There's worse options out there IMO. He's got a lot to prove this year so might not be a bad option. Plus....he's "grindy". I was assuming AZ would eat some of Byrnes salary. $4mil may be a stretch.
  8. Byrnes , Dejesus and Murton all interest me. More Byrnes and Dejesus than Murton. Good gloves and solid bats. Both would cost ~$4mil
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Well, Kenny has talked up Jordan Danks. Kenny's probably hyping him up so he can trade him. He's waiting for his brother to sign his extension first.
  10. Makes sense to me. If you have two players that play the same position and both have killer springs, rotate them from the field to dh.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Thanx. So Konerko would have to waive his no trade clause and who would be willing to add that kind of salary AND give up a player ? Sure seems like KW has to be creative or Jerry raises the payroll to get other pieces to this puzzle. The only other huge salaries are Peavy, Buerhle, & Rios. Possible destinations: Angels, Mariners, Giants and I'd even say the A's. I'm pretty sure they all have money to spend, especially the Mariners. Mariners could definitely use the hitting. I'd take Lowe for Konerko straight up
  12. QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) This is a shock to me. Not the acquisition of Tehean, but the statement that we will play 3B. Bechkham was developing nice over there and now he has to go to 2B to learn a new position. If anything you would want to move Beckham to SS and Alexi to 2B wouldnt you. Plus you would think Tehean fits in much better rotating through the RF/DH role, allowing the sox to pursue figgins, hudson, or polanco for true defense and leadoff hitter. With him at 3B and saying Pods wont be back that basically means they have the RF/DH hole to fill with a leadoff hitter/obp guy, something that very tough to do. I doubt anything is written in stone. Sox could still pickup a 2B or 3B and move Teahen.
  13. Good recap on Teahen http://bleacherreport.com/articles/285173-...o-the-white-sox
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Since PODS is not coming back our outfield has a hole, who will we fill it with? I would move Quentin to RF then put a huge wall 290 feet out in left field like the Red Sox have so you don't need a good player out there.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) I've been toying around with something. Last offseason, one of the huge rumors was Teahen to the Cubs for Fontenot and Marshall. If we did that, got a solid lefty-bench bat, and a lefty-spot starter (with a heart-breaking curve) who can work out of the pen.... would we be encouraged? Is this possible? Cubs would have to deal Bradley first. I'd be for it. Spin those two players in a package for AGon.
  16. Sox get cash considerations
  17. Confirmed per KC press release via mlbtr
  18. Milwaukee gets Gomez. Good trade for the Twins IMO. Wasn't much of a Gomez fan.
  19. Wow, fun start to the offseason. You'd think the offseason was just a week this year. Everyone is working fast. I'm wondering if people are trading quicker do to budget limits and a poor free agent class.

  21. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) 1. I think everyone here dislikes this trade because theyre comparing teahan and dye if KW goes out and gets a bopper you then compare getz to teahan which while getz looks like he can be a pretty good scrappy young player with teahan youve got a guy that i see putting up atleast 15/65. Everyone needs to wait to see how this offseason rolls out. 2. It'd be nice to have 5 stud starters but once you hit the postseason you dont really need 5 so if you can trade floyd or danks to bring in an adrian gonzalez i do it in a heartbeat. Hell Id be fine with seein carlos torres out there every 5th day if it means we got a young lefty bat that can give us 40 homers and 100+ RBI. 3. Sure it has the potential to be a bad deal in 3 or 4 years but would you trade a legit WS contending team for the next 2 or 3 years for a year or 2 of a potentially bad contract? 4. Nick Johnson is just a cheap dream i think a lot of us have on this board have. the man has a career .402 career OBP you can not say that wouldnt look sexy in the 2 spot of our lineup. Plus he'd be our DH in my lil offseason so thi risk for injury is A LOT less. Interesting points. I'm wondering if we have the talent to land Gonzalez though. Seems like we would be up against LAD and BOS and both of them have deeper farm systems than we do, at least from what I've read.

  23. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) 1. We should start off by canceling this deal for Teahen since he's not worth his contract. 2. I'd love Adrian, but I wouldn't give up Floyd or Danks. They can have Hudson and all the prospects they want, and if they won't take that, then we look elsewhere for a bat. 3. Chone Figgins at 4+ years or whatever he's going to get has the potential to be a pretty bad deal. Once his speed declines he's essentially a glorified bench player. 4. Nick Johnson can't be counted on. He should be pretty far down on our list this offseason. Agreed
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:22 PM) You can't file for free agency with 5.155 years of service, 2010 will be his 3rd year of arbitration eligibility because he was a Super Two player. I read it wrong. I saw that he had avoided arbitration twice so I figured he had one more year.
  25. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) Wow, what does this mean for Jason Bay? Edit: Marlins got two nice arms for a potential non-tender guy. My thoughts exactly (re: bay).
