QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) THat's an interesting idea. While that idea may or may not work, what they should TRY to do is find a way to make the park more of a "community" outside the park. Find a way to bring a neighborhood style to a bland ballpark community. My thoughts exactly. Vendors would being uniqueness that you otherwise couldn't get at your neighborhood mall.

I think they should setup an area for street vendors. This is less permanent and less trendy. Something similar to what Chicago does for the taste. They could even have themes each time that allow for different vendor types.

How does a player playing part of the season in the minors affect his salary and his arbtitration eligibility? For instance, Lillibridge. He made $402,500 but was he paid that much since he spent some of the season in the minors? Does a player have to play 3 years in the majors for a certain amount of time to become arbitration eligible? Could a player like Lillibridge be pre-arb for 4 or 5 years based on his major league service time?

According to Cots contracts, both AJ and Linebrink have no trade rights. Unless I'm reading this wrong. http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/c...-white-sox.html

Marlins will attempt to trade Jeremy Hermida
striker replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) Hermida has the tools to be a high quality corner outfielder no doubt about it. Whether he ever comes close to reaching that however is very suspect at this time. Several years ago the Marlins would have never dreamed of trading him. His stock is fairly low and although he wouldn't be my first option as JD's replacement I would definitely welcome a trade to bring him here for the right price. The problem of course is the Marlins are a tough trade partner. It seems they rarely "lose" on deals they make. Realistically, the Marlins would probably ask for a player + pitcher package. They don't need Danks; their OF looks solid for the next 10 years already. Hermida is also not worth either Flowers, Viciedo or Hudson IMO so I don't even know what they'd ask from us. I was thinking more in the lines of Fields or a talented unproven arm like Link or Nunez. They want the salary dump so as long as they get decent talent in return they would be happy. IMO -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) If Pods turns down a similar offer from the Sox or wants multiple years or an insane more amount money, then I'm fine with Ankiel at the 1 year 2m they're projecting. That's actually my prediction. The site is built so each fan can post their own predictions. Then I score the accuracy on the team, years and amount of the contract.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) You are probably right, but I'd think for a corner OF'er he'd be pretty good defensively. Good speed, great arm, etc. He has nice power, the HGH thing is something I had forgotten about and obviously he was awful last year. Still, he's got a nice skill-set and depending on what the Sox do I could see them going that route. I wouldn't guarantee greatness though, but he's got the ability to be a solid back of the order power bat for cheap. You have to expect at least one risky pickup from KW this offseason.

I like his chances, especially after winning TSN ROY.

I added free agent predictions capabilities to my site www.fan-exchange.com. If you are interested, signup and post your predictions. Predict destination team, total years of contract and total dollars. I plan on adding contract information to the site similar to cots so I can score accuracy on the prediction. Check it out: http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/predictionsfreeagents.asp

White Sox show interest in Aroldis Chapman...
striker replied to prochisox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Large market teams like the White Sox will come up as "having interest" or "are talking to" about every player this offseason. The people that write this stuff make money off the number of people that read it, not the quality of the content. So don't get your panties all ruffled over nothing. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) David Price put up 128.1 IP of slightly above average pitching this year. He contributed quite a bit to the success of the Rays. The areas that held the Rays back this year were a regression in the starting rotation - Kazmir, Shields, Sonnanstine and Garza all put up worse ERAs, and Kazmir's and Sonnanstine's were very significant, enough that they were traded or replaced. If anything, the Rays had the right idea and addressed it the wrong way, because they did have an excess of starting pitching - Shields, Kazmir, Jackson, Sonnanstine, Garza, Niemann, Price, Davis, and perhaps one or two others that could be in consideration - but didn't trade Sonnanstine when had a very fluky season and instead traded Jackson (who also had a fluky season in 2008 as well, but had the talent and prior success at some point in his career to become a dominant starter). I stand corrected.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) The Tampa Bay Rays tried exactly that last offseason; they felt like they had more pitching than they needed, so they traded Jackson to Detroit. Jackson had a great season, one or two of TB's starters struggled, and Tampa suddenly had a deficit of starting pitching and might well have been a playoff team had they still had Jackson. They also had Price and Davis waiting in the wings but neither one contributed in 2009. This would just reiterate why NOT to get rid of Danks, since he is more accurate to predict than Garcia or Hudson in 2010. Again, no harm in the blogger proposing the deal. That's just part of the fun of the offseason.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) It bothers me to know that as soon as the Sox have a stellar rotation 1-4, and a Good-Great rotation 1-5, everyone is looking to take it apart before watching it work. I'm not personally looking to take it apart. I would rather have the stellar rotation and keep Hudson to have a 6th arm in the waiting. I just don't think the trade idea is terrible overall. He's writing from the Mariners perspective anyway. I think we can all agree that Lowe and Lopez are good. I think that anytime you can get 2 good players for 1 that you are helping your team. You are also cutting your risk in half.
-
I would consider the deal. If you dont' have money to spend, and it doesn't look like we do, then you trade. And you trade from your strengths (starting pitching) to fix your weaknesses (offense and bullpen). I would have a deal in line for Nix or Getz first though. I don't understand why people get so upset over a trade proposal. It's just someone's opinion. Why get all upset.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) Would you do 2/$20 to beat the Angels offer? I would do 2/20 if 2/year was incentivized. I doubt Kenny does though. He seems to do more on the trade front. I want Beltre and BJ Upton. Not sure how we'd get Upton though. 2B Getz CF Upton SS Beckham LF Quentin CA Pierzynski 1B Konerko RF Rios 3B Beltre DH Kotsay Alot of speed and good defense in that lineup. A balance of pop too. 6 of those guys could hit 20hr. 4 could hit 30hr.

I look at it being fathom's fault for the Sox going 79-83 Way to jinx us!

QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 07:28 AM) I could see Conor Jackson making his way over. Not really a power guy, but has a high OBP, and his three consecutive in ARZ when he was healthy his line was: .292 BA, .371 OBP, averaged 14 home runs, 71 rbi and 4 stolen bases. Can play LF and 1B. I like this idea. Versatile. Inexpensive. Low risk. Young. Put him in the middle of our lineup and he could probably drive in 100.

I'd rather find someone

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) I would take OC back on the team next year and I hope the White Sox would too... he was on the White Sox when they made the playoffs last year playing very good defense and he was on the Twins team contributing something like a 14 game hit streak while the team was chasing down the 1st place team to force a 1 game playoff. Hopefully KW and Ozzie realize there is no such thing as a perfect clubhouse. We offered OC arbitration and told him if he accepted that he would sit the bench. I don't think he even considers us an option. Plus I don't think he likes Ozzie.
-
KW stated (I don't remember the source) that he wants a DH that can also play the field. JD is alright out there but I'm sure Dye is not what he has in mind.
-
I love the fact that this is the second year in a row that we have a ROY candidate. When was the last time an organization did that? Dodger maybe (Karros & Piazza)?
-
QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Hopefully KW follows JP's career-ending signing/lead and dumps Rios, what a stiff... Looking forward to watching some pitching in 2010, hopefully an exciting off-season and a new line-up coming. So would you like to try and get Anderson back to play CF? Or how about put Wise back out there.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 03:09 AM) I was unaware Paulie was on that list... Per this article he was http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/08/whit...l-veterans.html But who really knows.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 03:09 AM) What memo? Here is a better reference. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/08/whit...l-veterans.html

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 03:09 AM) What memo? http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/columns/...&id=4438820 Supposedly KW sent out a memo stating that any of his veterans were available, if I understood it correctly.
