As much as KW doesn't like Thomas, I don't think he is stupid enough to do a deal straight up for Perez. Someone would have to be included and the new owner of the Dodgers would be dumb enough to give up someone good (Mota, Jackson, Miller) just to make headlines.
-
I like the team we have now. I'd rather see how the pitchers perform in Spring Training before we do anything stupid. If it looks ugly after ST then make a move.
-
Please stop fighting, you are making me nervous. :headshake

I wouldn't want to go either. He's probably tired of hearing all this stupid s*** about him not answering his messages.
-
I'm wondering if the Phillies would be willing to dump a SP.

I'd be game for getting Percival and Washburn. I'm always up for improving our pitching staff.
-
You are right. Washburn was a big key to the Angels winning the world series two years ago. He was also a big key to them sucking last year. I would rather see a deal like this. Sox Get: Percival - $8 mil Yankee Prospect Angels Get: Valentine - $5 mil Yankee Prospect Yankees Get: Koch - $6.5mil Glaus - $7.25mil Sox save $3mil on payroll. Yankees get 3rd baseman. Sox get good closed. Angels get SCREWED.

There is no way I'd do that trade. Maybe get rid of Valentine but I wouldn't give up Valentine and Kornerko for Washburn and Erstad. Valentine and Kornerko are always healthy. Erstad is on the way down and Washburn gave up 34 homers last year. 34!! I'd rather take my chances with Cotts or Rauch. You have to give them an opportunity sometime.

Which is your favorite White Sox team of All Time?

1994 That was our year. The strike ruined everything. LF Tim Raines 2B Joey Cora 1B Frank Thomas DH Julio Franco 3B Robin Ventura RF Darrin Jackson CF Lance Johnson CA Ron Karkovice SS Ozzie Guillen SP Jack McDowell SP Alex Fernandez SP Wilson Alvarez SP Jason Bere SP Scott Sanderson RP Kirk McKaskill RP Jose Delion RP Scott Radinsky CL Roberto Hernandez I lived in Seattle that year and right before I moved back to Springfield the Sox came out to Seattle and swept the Mariners. 4 games. Last game of that series I had 1st row seats behind the mariner's dugout and their mascot, a moose, came over between innings and took my Sox hat off and the whole crowd was booing me. That team would have won it all hands down. I still have like 100 Jason Bere rookie cards cause I thought he was such a bad ass. Remember his gas? Remember Roberto's gas? McDowell's splitter? Radinsky's curve? Ahhhhh memories. -
I'd rather see Schowenwais start then Erickson. I think Erickson is overated. I think Cooper was saying Schowenwais was working on a cutter. If he picks that up then he could be a devistating starter. I've just never liked Erickson.

No one mentioned Gload?

If you were the GM what final moves would you make and what would be your opening day lineup? Keeping in mind you have to keep the payroll around $60mil and no GM is going to do a stupid trade like a Valentin for A-Rod deal. I would trade Maggs and a prospect to the Dodgers for Perez, Mota and a prospect. As much as I like Maggs this is a business and in this business there are more good outfielders than there are good pitchers. My opening day roster would look like this: 2B Harris CF Rowand LF Lee DH Thomas 1B Kornerko 3B Crede SS Valentine RF Bochard/Reed CA Olivo SP Loaiza SP Buerhle SP Perez SP Garland SP Cotts/Rauch RP Mota RP Wunsch RP Marte RP Politte RP Schoenwais CP Koch Our lineup would have solid defense and a good balance of speed and power. Our starting rotation would have 5 guys capable of winning 15+ games and our bullpen would be pretty tight (hoping Koch and Politte rebound). Plus our payroll would be less than $55 mil. When the all-star break came around go plug the holes in our team via trades.

Beltran's stats were just as good or better than Magg's and Beltran missed most of the first month of the season. Beltran YEAR G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS 2003 141 521 102 160 14 10 26 100 72 81 41 4 .307 .389 .522 .911 Maggs YEAR G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS 2003 160 606 95 192 46 3 29 99 57 73 9 5 .317 .380 .546 .926

If opening day was today then I admit we would have alot of question marks. Kornerko, Koch, Garland, Rowand, Harris, Politte, etc. But I still think the talent on our team is much better than KC's and Minnesota's. I also think the players we have will perform alot better under Guillen then Manuel. I couldn't stand Manuel. Wunsch was one of the best relievers in baseball vs. Righties and Lefties and Manuel would take him out against a righty? Plus, I still think KW is gonna make some move before Opening Day. Put yourself in his shoes. What fun would being a GM be if you didn't make moves? No one wants to field the same team day in and day out. It would be like playing Monopoly and staying in one place not rolling the dice.

It's pretty funny how so many people will write off the Sox cause they don't have a $150million payroll with 4 gold glovers, 5 aces and a bunch of silver sluggers. It's not the most talents people that win, it's who wants it more. If the most talented team won every year then the Yankees would win hands down. But they don't. Who thought the Angels would have won it a couple years ago? Who thought the Marlins would have made the playoffs last year let alone win the World Series? No one. I think Guillen's style of play will add 10 wins to the Whitesox. Guillen was one of the least talented players the sox ever had but he did the little things that helped the team win. Bunt, move the runners over, field the ball, hit and run. Basically think more when they are playing. I also think the team we have today will be the team that is on the opening roster. KW is a smart man, though some of his deals are questionable, and is always looking to improve the team. F the Twins. F the Royals. and F you whining Sox fans. Now if you will excuse me, I have a pillow to hump.

Spring training hasn't even started and you guys are already writing off the Sox? I think they are gonna have a very talented team. I just hope Koch and Kornerko can rebound for sub-par seasons. I don't think Loaiza is a fluke but I'd be suprised to see him win 20 games again. The key to his success last year was adding a cutter to his arsenal. Garland needs to get his butt in gear and live up to his expectations. You know he has the potential. Sox should hire McDowell for a pitching coach. He had the best attitude I've seen any pitcher have. Attack attack attack. Don't nibble. I think Rowand and Harris will contribute alot to our team because their style of play is just like Guillen's style, hustle hustle hustle. Sox Rule!

I still feel something is going to go down.

I'm all for KW & JR trading Maggs. I like him but outfielders can easily be replaced. We need pitching and if trading Maggs can bring us good pitching then I'm for it. Remember all the other big names that wanted huge contracts and JR said good bye to and their careers went no where? McDowell? A. Fernandez? W. Alvarez?
