How about the World Series we are gonna win without him???? Bring up McCarthy!!!

I don' want Castillo or Podsednik. I think Harris can put up just as good numbers as Castillo and Podsednik sucks.

What the HELL is the holdup with signing FA's?
striker replied to BlizzardOfOzzie's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Dec 7 is the last day teams can offer arbitration to their players. If we sign someone before then then we have to give up a draft pick. We we sign them after that then we don't have to give up a draft pick. Also, alot of players are getting alot of attention (Pavano, Wright, etc.) so the longer they wait the more they end up getting in the end. -
I don't know why everyone likes Posendnik so much. Especially over Rowand? I don't think so. Rowand is younger, better hitter, more power and just as cheap.

Hudson pushing himself onto the trade block?
striker replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want Hudson bad. I wouldn't him playing for the Sox either.... -
I read somewhere that the sox had offered 6 years $90 million.

If my definition of a quality start is correct >=6IP
-
I looked over Vazquez's game log and compared it to Garlands. They seem to have about the same number of quality starts. Vazquez appeared to be as inconsistent as Garland. What is the definition of a quality start? 6IP

I say screw Johnson and Vazquez. We should try to pick up one of the big 3 from Oakland cause they are younger and cheaper or pickup a free agent so we don't have to give up any offense or prospects.
-
Pitching wins ball games. Our offense is fine, we need to upgrade our pitching. Our pitching is OK to keep us in it right now but we need another big starter and a reliever to really put us over the edge.
-
We could meet 2 of our 3 needs (starting pitcher and leadoff hitter) by taking Brown and Lofton off the Yankee's hands. I'm sure the Yankees would pay at least 50% of Brown's salary (it's a contract year for him so I'm sure he'll dominate) and supposedly the Yankees want to get rid of Lofton too. We could probably get both of them for next to nothing too.
-
I hope you are not talking about giving an unproven pitcher a 3 year $36 million dollar contract. No way will that happen. Anyone that gives him over 3 year $27 million dollar deal is nuts.

Sox's Top Ten Prospect List from Baseball America
striker replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd like to see who the Top 10 were last year and compare them to this year. That will let everyone know how over hyped alot of prospects are. -
Your other options are to watch the games over the internet on www.mlb.com. Their single game price is around $2 and the entire season is like $40. I'm sure it will work with dial up internet but would be alot better if you had DSL or cable internet. I watched one game last year and it was pretty good.

We all know Reinsdorf has money. I think if we get Johnson JR might pull some money out of his butt and really put together a contender. This is the same guy that spent $30million/year for Jordan & $10million/year for Belle. I just don't think he is stupid enough to just spend money and expect to win (reference to the Rangers/Mets).

What right moves did he not make? We probably had one of the most talented teams in baseball in 2003 but they just didn't get the job done. I don't agree with everything KW has said or done but he has put a quality team on the field year after year. Last year sucked cause we lost Maggs for 3/4 of the seasons and Frank for 1/2 but we still finished 9 games out. I'm tired of everyone bashing KW. His job is to put a good team on the field year by year. It's the players job to then win.

This is good for the RJ aquisition. This eliminates the probability of the Florida -> Yankees -> California trade. Now we just need Sexson to sign somewhere other than AZ and RJ to OK the deal to the Sox. Smithers.... the plan is coming together.
-
Ben Maller seems to think RJ is coming to the Sox http://www.benmaller.com/archives/2004/november/19.html I think giving up Kornerko/Garland and a prospect is worth it. RJ is money. His presence alone will help the rest of the pitching staff. Just remember when you talk about how bad it is to trade prospects how many over hyped prospects there have been. Van Poppel Brien Taylor (yankees) Kornerko (who is just now coming around) Cliff Floyd (decent but not hasn't lived up to his hype when he was a prospect) Win and win now.

I say get Polanco and try to get Vazquez or Brown and Lofton from the Yankees, then get Kendall (don't ask me how, it's not important right now). CF Lofton CA Kendall LF Lee DH Thomas 1B Gload RF Rowand 2B Polanco SS Uribe 3B Crede We wouldn't get our 200 homers again but alog of good hitters. Just 2 lefties though. SP Garcia SP Buerhle SP Vazquez SP Contreras SP Grilli

I agree with you wanting to keep Thomas around. I couldn't imagine him in another uniform. It would be like Jordan wearing a wizards jersey or Will Perdue wearing a Spurs jersey. It's just not the same. ED NEALY RULES!!
-
Baez could setup too.
-
Sorry, I didn't real the instruction thouroughly. Baez is a close.
-
I like Baez. He might come reasonably cheap too. He was like 30/33 in save chances last year. He could close for us and if he slips up we can go with Shingo.

Dammit. Who cares about the Bulls? I'd rather listen to hot stove talk than talk about a s***ty basketball team.
