The thing I like most about Peavy is his attitude. I think the White Sox have had talent the past few years but they lack fire. Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Jenks, Thome, Konerko, Quentin and Dye are all too quiet.

I can't find the exact quote but KW has mentioned that he wants a DH that can also play the field. I'm assuming he's talking about an outfielder and not a 1B. I think Johnson is good, but like everyone else mentioned he's injury proned. The most games he's ever played in a year at 147 and that was 3 years ago.

Contrera, Linebrink and Colon combined for 26 losses or just under 1/3. Just by having quality 4/5 starters should help some. But then you have to look at how we sucked with RISP

Buehrle and Konerko will never be dealt because they are the faces of this franchise.

Alexei Ramirez straight up. They could put him at 2nd.

This is going to be a fun offseason for Hot Stove fans. If I was KW I would get rid of alot of people and bring in some new blood.

Heres another trade for you. Jenks and Danks for Fielder. Brewers need pitching.

Tampa Bay will be in the market for a closer. How about Jenks for Crawford? TB get's 2 years of Jenks for 1 year of Crawford. Plus they have a surplus of outfielders. The bullpen is such a coin toss. Look at guys like Foulke, MacDougal and Aardsma that all did bad then turned it around somewhere else. Look at guys like Hermanson, Polite and Cotts that out of no where put together career years and win us a world series. There are few gurantees in the bullpen (Papelbon, Rivera, Nathan) and no one is going to give up any of their gurantees. You just have to put good players out there, like Kenny has, and hope they do their job. I think bullpen statistics can be skewed though. If you have 1 bad outing then it will take you alot of perfect outings to turn your numbers around. You could dump Jenk's salary and turn around and sign Wagner with the money Jenks would have made. Your risk isn't any different though. I guess it depends on who you get for Jenks.

Our pitching depth is a good problem to have. I think the big question is how much money Garcia will want to stay. If the price is right then he is #5. If he asks for too much I'm betting it's Torres or Hynick and the 2 odd men out get dealt. KW doesn't seem like the type to hold onto players that are doing good but he doesn't have a spot for them. Sell high.

I still haven't written this season off. We are 6.5 out with 28 games to be played. And Detroit is far from spectacular. I'll give it 10 days before I slit my wrists.

Does anyone else remember that game with Thomas hit 3 homers in one game off Wakefield? I always think of that game whenever Wakefield faces us.

After yesterdays loss, and yet another failed attempt at a sweep, I was furious. But then I began to think, are the White Sox a great team that underachieves? Or do I just expect too much out of them? Are they really a .500 team even though I expect 90 wins? I personally think they are underachievers. The team we have fielded the past few years has been stacked with talent and we haven't gone anywhere with it. Because of this, I feel that if we don't get anywhere this year, it's time to make some MORE significant moves. Just wanted to know what everyone elses thoughts were.

I'd rather see Abreu DH and Winn in RF next year. I think we need a DH that can field, at least part time. I know Abreu isn't that great of a fielder but he can field and Thome can't. Which means Abreu could play against NL teams. Abreu would bring a higher average, more speed and defense that Thome can't provide. Winn would be an upgrade over Dye with speed and defense. Their hitting, obp are the same. I just think we need to get away from old sluggers, and that's what Thome and Dye are, IMO.

I like this move and I'm wondering if this is a change in philosophy, putting more emphasis on defense and speed vs. power. I wouldn't mind seeing both Dye and Thome leave and see an Abreu or Winn, someone with more speed and higher batting average (I know Winn is having a bad year). I didn't see any highlights or read any notes about yesterdays game. Can someone fill me in on what ruffled KW's feathers?
