The Sox are winning right now with their 1-4 hitters hitting a combined .212. If they combine to finish the season with .280 averages then that means they'll combine to hit .289 for the rest of the season, which is pretty good. This doesn't even take into consideration RISP and OBP, which are more important that avg. I think the hitting is fine. I just hope the pitching and defense hold up. That's what will make or break us, not hitting.

I hate Uribe. Hate him. But if we are winning right now then you might as well leave it be. If Richar heats up then bring him up, send Ramirez down and see if Richar can out perform Uribe. If Uribe would end the season with a .250 average and 500 ABs then he would have to hit .263 for the next 440 ABs which isn't bad for a # 9 hitter. We'll see if he can hit .250 though. I would like to see some Uribe quotes back when we traded for OCab. He was so mad then, and now he is really proving himself.

I blame Guillen for last night. Everyone knows relievers are less affective when they pitch too many nights in a row. Last night was a perfect example. Jenk's curveball look like meat and it's probably because it was his third straight night of pitching. Guillen needs to realize that Jenks doesn't have to close every game in every save situation. This isn't a fantasy league team. Linebrink pitched good but it was his third night in a row too and we don't have any days off anytime soon. Thornton has look great the past few times he's been out and he hasn't pitched much all year. But of course he only faces one batter, a lefty. Boone should have come in to pitch the 7th, Dotel the 8th and Thornton the 9th. A good manager learns to utilize all of his players. Not the same players over and over in the same situation.

4/17 Gamethread: Sox (9-5) at Orioles (8-7); 6:05; CSN

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) We saw Guthrie last year in 1 start and tagged him for 9 H 6 R (5 earned) in 3.2 IP http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/stats/batt...p;changeBP=true Specifics -
They have two starters that are 3-0 and have sub 1 ERAs. That is impressive. As much as I want the Whitesox to win, I wouldn't mind at all if they finished second to the Royals. It's always nice to see a team that struggles for so long finally get their time at the top.

Hey Contreras, now I know why your wife dumped you, she went to find a real man.

I hate Masset. He only made the roster so KW could save face. KW put his ego before the team.

QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 11:52 PM) Nope, just tried again and I got the same thing. Couple things: My name has numbers in it. My password has a number in it. My name has an ' in it. Those are the only things I can think of. Any of those reasons why? SHould work now. Thanks for the heads up. -

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) I'm confused by the "Avg Win" and "Avg Loss"numbers. They don't seem to correlate to a 162 game season. The avg wins for the best teams is, like 52 or 53. I have to revise my formula so it doesn't include people that haven't filled it out yet, or have 0 (zero) wins. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 12:55 AM) There is also a script running that my browser rejected. Not uncommon, but something to be aware of. Was this on the prediction page? That's the only place I use javascript. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 12:28 AM) I really dislike places where you have to register before you see any content. At least give people a taste of what the place is like in some demo pages. I know I need to spiff up the front page a little. Add some prediction content. You can actually click on the MLB link and then the p link next to standings to see predicted standings that have been posted, without being signed in. -

Another reason I wanted to track this accuracy is because I got sick of everyone picking the Yankees to win it all every year. Now I'll be able to show how wrong they always are. -
I've always loved reading those pre-season magazines, blogs and forum posts. I thought it would be cool to track year over year everyone's accuracy at their predictions. Right now you can predict team records, NL champ, AL champ and WS champ. I will be adding: player's predictions, mvp predictions, cy young predictions, and game predictions too. I've been hammering away at it for only about a week so there may be bugs. Check it out and let me know what you think. striker ps. I got the admins permission to post this so don't call me out for spamming

not a huge fan of this but it spreads the power around. Better swish than owens

Danks is money with that cutter. Though he could benefit from being in the 5 hole

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) Because he understands like any other smart person that Danny Richar sucks? Seriously, I hate "trade ideas" that have no backing, but Danny Richar is not legitimate. What backing do you want? You want me to clear this idea with Kenny Williams first? I'm a Sox fan. This is a Sox forum. I wanted to know the opinion of Sox fans. If you don't like the post then don't reply to it. It's like tv, if you don't like the show then don't watch it.

I know it's too early to judge, but if Owens were to outperform Quentin in the spring then you would have to assume he'd get the starting job in cf, making Quentin expendable. We can possibly only keep one of Masset and Floyd (because both are out of options), unless they both beat out Wasserman. Baltimore could net 3 decent prospects. 2B Roberts SS Cabrera DH Thome 1B Kornerko LF Swisher RF Dye CA Pierzynski 3B Fields CF Owens
-
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) You don't think he could win a job with a great spring? No. Where does he fit in the lineup? Putting him in CF means Swisher is probably the leadoff man. And that doesn't make much sense since he's a run producer. Plus I think everyone is sick of his mouth. I know I am.
-
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) Id kill for BA to actually develop into a .270+ hitter with 20 homers, 10-20 sbs...with his defense he'd be killer just by being an average hitter. Lets see him do it in the minors first.
-
Fields, Richar and Floyd/Masset would get it done, IMO
-
I'm sure this has been posted before, but I wanted to bring it up again. http://www.baseball-reference.com/w/walkegr01.shtml Doesn't make any sense. His highest batting average was .294. His highest obp was .346. He shouldn't be instructing.

I forgot to mention that I'm in CO, so I need somewhere online.
