  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Williams has quite the offseason ahead of him, then. Every move he makes better work. He does have alot to do. Alot of holes to fill, not alot of trading chips and not much money to spend. I'm betting Garland or Vazquez will have to go.
  2. Why would you think we could even trade contreras? He is absolute garbage now and everyone knows it. Put him on the DL and hope he regains his velocity next year. Make him earn his spot back in the rotation and if he doesn't then release him. I don't want to pay someone to lose unless theres a good over/under.
  3. Greg Walker didn't like Macoviak because he made him look good.
  4. Finally, the move that will change this franchise and get fans looking forward to the future.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) This would be interesting. Seems that all former roiders must go through NYY. Cashman "We need Bonds in order to complete the All-Roids team."
  6. Alright, just saw we might get Manny Delcarmen. I looked at his stats and I have changed my mind.
  7. Imagine Thome, Pena and Fields all in the same lineup. That's alot of K's. I'd rather try to work something out and get a pitcher(s) and a SS from the Angels. They have alot to spare. I'd rather see Avayar and Sweeney than Pena and Uribe. Unless something else will happen for a SS.
  8. Ozzie is sitting Fields, Pierzynski and Kornerko. 3 of our 5 good hitters (Thome and Macoviak being the others). Nice managing. Why even play the game?
  9. The whitesox have such dumb hitters. This guy throws 75% of his pitches offspeed. Just hit the ball up the middle or to the opposite field. Stupid
  10. I like him too. Ozzie screwed him by taking him out too soon in the Redsox game. Of course, he didn't help himself at all by walking a guy.
  11. I wonder what M. Giles' problem is. He was quite the 2B for about 3-4 years and now he hits like a Whitesock.
  12. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) It kind of looks like Owens will be in CF next year and will take over Pods spot as the speedy outfielder. I would rather have someone better out there, but would be fine with that (since Owens is cheap) as long as they sign a good SS and pick up some bullpen help somehow. I'm note to fond of the SS free agent market. I'm hoping someone will cough up a good SS that has a back log of them (Atlanta & LAA, to name a couple teams). LAA has Figgins, Avayar, Wood, Cabrera, Kendrick, Izturis and McPhereson all capable of playing 3B, SS or 2B. I'm sure someone will become available. Of course Avayar, Wood and Cabrera I think are actuals SSs.
  13. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 02:39 PM) I'd love to have Dye back. You could tell something was bothering him early on. I would like to sign a good CF too, but may be asking for too much with all of the holes. We would also need a SS and some bullpen help (I would put Richar in at 2B, Fields in LF, and Crede at 3rd). I would go with that too. I would LOVE to see Byrnes or Rowand in CF, in that order. But both will probably ask alot and neither are probably worth it.
  14. I'm in the minority, but I like Pods. But I'm tired of broken players. This includes: Crede, Erstad and Thome. I'm also tired of underachievers (which is everyone right now), but more specifically: Uribe.
  15. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) (He no longer looks like a 3 legged dog out there to me) Would you be referring to Cody from Life Aquatic?
  16. Throw him in the bullpen for the rest of the year and see if he can make a comeback next spring. I wouldn't deal him now while his stock is down. He's a guaranteed loss right now if he starts, plus we all want to see some youngsters pitch.
  17. I'd be willing to trade Vazquez or Garland if we got at least one reliever and one fielder in return. Say Kemp & Broxton. I would even throw someone their way like Broadway. We would free up money and could use it to get someone else.
  18. QUOTE(spataro51 @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) Why in the heck would we deal danks? He is under are control for 5 more years and he is a damn good lefty that is still developing. If i had to choose i would dump garland because no way in hell is he going to give us a nice hometown discount like Mb did. John is waiting to go pitch out west. The same reason we traded McCarthy, to get more players in return.
  19. hitlesswonder and balta1701, you both made alot of good points. I never considered the roster issues and the arbitration issues that would arise from calling up a player. I guess they have to do good in AA and then REALLY impress in spring training in order to make the jump.
  20. Alot of people say we shouldn't bring up AA player because it's too soon, or we might ruin them. I think Ozzie even said we might ruin them. How is bringing up a player in September any different then them playing in Spring Training. If we are out of it in September, the games are just as useless. If anything, they benefit from facing major leaguers. I'd rather see if they are ready now. If Gio, Egbert or Russell came up and dominated, then had a good spring, I would think it's safe to say they are ready. If they come up and do bad, I don't think they are going to kill themselves like everyone else seems to think.
  21. Why is everyone so worried about bringing up AA players "too soon" and "ruining" them? Even Ozzie said that. How is bringing a youngster up in September to face major leaguers any different than them facing major leaguers in spring training? Do people thing that if the prospect fails they are going to drink poison (samari style)? If these guys came up and kicked butt, then that would answer alot of questions sooner than later. If they got rocked, then we know they aren't ready for MLB. Look at Danks, he pitched in just 2 major league games before becoming one of our starters. He has gotten his butt kicked. But he's fine. Someone please explain this theory to me.
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) Haeger will be fine. Floyd, won't. I think they will both be good. It seems to take Haeger 1/2 a season to come around, then he does good. Floyd has good stuff but like most pitchers just needs to throw strikes. Besides, they are both only like 23 or 24.
  23. Only a moron would trade a good starting pitcher for a good SS. Garland won 36 games from 2005 and 2006. Pitching always wins. Pitching always trumps hitting.
  24. He has kind of a 3/4s deliver too doesn't he? Makes his fastball a little deceptive.
