  1. You know how fans in the outfield bleachers hold up signs that say "So and So, hit it here"? Someone sitting on the first base side seats should make a sign that says "Cintron or Gonzalez, throw it here".
  2. I haven't seen any of the games. I know they haven't played that much but what does everyone think of Broadway and Phillips? They seem to be doing better than Thornton and MacDougal.
  3. Guillen has high expectation for Floyd, even though the rest of team has a 4.90 era. Their ignorance is driving me nuts.
  4. I guess Reinsdorf gave the ad agency an F compared to Kenny and Ozzie's A's.
  5. I think winning it all is all by chance. Look at the 2005 Whitesox. On paper they sucked. They had one guy (correct me if I'm wrong) with over 100 RBI. Dustin Hermanson, Cliff Politte and Neal Cotts all had awesome career years. Our starting rotation all had career years. None of them will ever come close to that. Look at the Cardinals last year. That team was garbage, but they hit at the right time, they pitched at the right time and they won at the right time. Next year I would trade BOTH Garland and Contreras. Neither of them have an upside. I would not sign Hunter, he is over priced. I would get some youth and hope for the best. I don't think Cleveland and Detroit are that unbeatable. If we put together a team thats .500 at the all start break then we plug some holes then. I just DO NOT want to see the following players anymore: Uribe, Podsednik and Erstad Fields, Richar, Buehrle, Jenks, Wasserman and Vazquez would be my only untouchables.
  6. Garland 8-10 ERA 4.89 IP 169 H 189 BB 51 K 78 Taveras R 60 H 110 HR 2 RBI 23 SB 29 OBP .361 AVG .313 J Hirsh 5-7 ERA 4.81 IP 112.1 H 103 BB 48 K 75 T Buchholz 6-4 ERA 4.32 IP 85.1 H 96 BB 16 K 55 This is a tough one because Garland had a pretty good first half but a terrible second half. Our terrible offense wasn't any help either. What sucks now is that Garland has only hurt his value (see Jose Contreras). It would have been nice to have Taveras's speed and two young pitchers, plus $10 mil to blow on someone else. I personally wished we made this trade in the offseason. But then maybe the Texas or Philadelphia trades don't go down, both of which I liked. Thoughts?
  7. The Dodgers have a surplus of pitching, OFs and SS. Grab one. The Angels have a surplus of SSs (Wood, Avayar, Cabrera). Grab one. The Diamondbacks and Mets have a surplus of OFs. Grab one. Konerko and Crede for Kotchman, Wood and Santana (LA is willing to deal Wood because they can't dump disappointing Kotchman and Santana). Contreras for Milledge. AJ for Carlos Quentin. Quentin/Santana to Tampa for Crawford. Crawford CF Richar 2B Thome DH Dye RF Kotchman 1B Milledge LF Fields 3B Wood SS Hall C Buehrle Vazquez Garland Danks Floyd/Gio/Eggy Sign a couple relievers or trade Garland for some.
  8. Send Kornerko to LA for a pitching prospect and an outfield prospect. Do whatever it takes to get Crawford from Tampa. Trade Garland. Trade Contreras. Trade AJ. Trade Crede. Sign A-Rod (I freed up ~$40mil). Rebuild next year. Compete in 2009. Cleveland is beatable. So is Detroit. Just not with the team we have. If we don't dump big names then we aren't going to get anything back in return. And we don't need bandaids like Eckstein. We need long term solutions.
  9. I have to say Ozzie. He's lost the players, his managerial decisions blow up in his face and the combination of his mouth and his losing ways have just made me sick.
  10. Someone's gotta go. Keeping everyone just wouldn't make sense.
  11. You have the worst team in the division and the largest payroll. Your team is 15 games below .500. So what do you do for the next year? Resign everyone!! REPEAT! REPEAT! REPEAT! I can't wait to be disappointed again next year.
  12. I think if we trade Garland or Count, they will be replaced by one of Masset, Floyd, Gio, or Eggy. Danks made the jump from AA so I think Eggy and Gio could. My 3 biggest concerns are SS, leadoff hitter and a veteran bullpen arm.
  13. Doesn't Brian Anderson make your stomach feel better?
  14. I think we'll have to trade Garland and hope Contreras rebounds. Garland's stock is higher. Though eliminating Contreras's risk would also be nice.
  15. I'm sick of power hitters, they have gotten us no where in the past two years. We need OBP guys. Guys that can hit opposite field. We need guys that can hit Jeff Weaver and Jake Westbrook (guys with losing records and ERAs over 5 that completely shut us down). We need to get rid of The only players I wouldn't deal are Kornerko, Buehrle, Jenks and Vazquez. I wouldn't miss anyone else.
  16. DJ is probably just as p1ssed as the rest of us and doesn't even want to watch the Sox right now.
  17. How about dogging Thome, Kornerko and Pierzynski? They all had a chance to tie the game. All they had to do is get a single off Joe Fing Borowski. This team, even though they tease us with wins, is still full of losers.
  18. Maybe we pry away some of their talented OFs for Garland?
  19. I think we have to offer up Crede for one of LAA's shortstops. Maybe a packaged deal that brings us Figgins and Avayar for Crede and some prospects or something. I'm sure it will be hard to pry Figgins away from there though.
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) I'm glad there's mention of Fields trying the OF, if Crede can come back healthy. It'd be one less position for us to be concerned about. Crede batted .216 after 47 games this year with 4HR. He has a career batting average of .259. And he's a Boras client. If he can show he's healthy (either this year or in spring training) then deal him. I don't think he's worth keeping around. Oh yeah, he's an injury risk too. Summary: 3B is still a concern with Crede around.
  21. Detroit and Cleveland are both struggling and we have alot of games left againts DET, CLE and MIN. We just have to be more consistent. We looked good this weekend but looked like a high school team in the Yankees series. The Sox are just teases, it won't happen.
  22. Question now is, who is going to replace Danks in the lineup?
  23. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) If you put him in the bullpen, he becomes MORE of an injury risk. An injured Contreras is more valuable to us than a healthy one.
