  1. We have 12 games left against CLE and 14 against DET (I may have counted wrong). So I still have hope. They have both played so good they are bound to cool off. LETS GO SOX!
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) I would feel a lot better if two of those tools were the ability to catch the ball and throw it to first base I take it he's bad with the glove?
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) Our hitting prospects in the minors suck. There's no one down there that I'm confident can be a MLB starting position player in the next few years. Why? Just because they didn't light it up when they were given the playing time? Alot of prospects have gotten their butts kicked the first time around: Humber, Pelfrey, Bailey. Baseball is a marathon not a race. I liked seeing Sweeney get a hit off K-rod and scoring the winning run in Anaheim. You have to remember too that alot of prospects don't have their best days UNTIL they get to the majors:
  4. I didn't realize this kid had so much upside. KW really flew under the radar with this one, at least with me. With all this trade talk I've been trying to figure out what our biggest weaknesses are in our minor league system. I'm starting to like our prospects depth. I think we could use more pitching (can never have enough) and maybe a solid OF prospect.
  5. This isn't NYC, we have standards and morals here
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Why the hell would the White Sox want this package? I assume they don't want it considering they didn't do it.
  7. Does anyone know anything about Jason Bourgeois? He's seems to have solid numbers. Sox trading for Richar probably says alot about what they think of Bourgeois.
  8. I bet teams are willing to give up more than fans think. There are two odds they keep in mind when trading for a veteran at the deadline: what are the odds that they can win it all? what are the odds that the prospects they trade pan out? Every teams goal is to win it all. The Mets, Yankees and Boston all have tons of money invested in their teams. Anything less than a World Series ring is a complete disappointment to them. Teams like the Dodgers and Arizona are stocked with talent so to lose 2 good prospects doesn't mean anything. Teams like the Brewers don't have many chances to make the playoffs so they have to take advantage when they have the chance. I really believe KW is licking his chops.
  9. I'd rather see an OF with 3 of: Owens/Sweeney/Terraro/Acquisition/Ichiro/Anderson I know Sweeney, Owens and Terraro haven't torn it up, but could you imagine the pressure of performing on a talented team that is underachieving like the Sox? The only headlines they get now are how much they suck and who is getting traded. Give the prospects more time.
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 07:58 PM) This is a GREAT post. Are you being serious or making fun of me? Just curious.
  11. If you look at the teams interested in Sox players, it appears as though KW is putting them up against eachother. Boston & NYY ATL & NYM LAA & SEA SD & LAD & AZ I think KW is running up the price. I think LAD and AZ have the best prospects. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=381&p=9&a...p;rc=4&ai=a
  12. I think Masset is good, just not a first inning pitcher (like most starters). Unfortunately, when you are a reliever, that is the only inning you pitch. He has great stuff and is young. I wouldn't deal him yet. Bring up someone else (Gavin/Lance/Gio/Carlos) and have Masset start in the minors.
  13. Does anyone know what happened to Huberto Sanchez? The pitcher the Yankees got from DET for Sheffield. I know KW was high on him.
  14. I'm tired of talking about other team's prospects. Lets talk about ours.
  15. Who was the cornerstone we traded? Garcia? McCarthy? Those are the only two players I remember being traded.
  16. Contreras (Mets) Vazquez (Cardinals or Brewers) Iguchi (Mets) Thome (Angels) Iguchi (Mets) Uribe (Orioles who trade Tejada, but not to us) I would love for us to somehow end up with Crawford and Ichiro in our lineup next year.
  17. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) The treatment of Anderson and Iguchi v. Uribe, Cintron, Terraro, and Gonzalez is kind of a head scratcher. Iguchi is far and away a better player then Uribe yet he seems to find his way to the Guillen doghouse and Uribe who could be one of the worst players since the beginning of last season in all of baseball gets a free pass. If Anderson was healthy it would be an interesting scernario. It is a head scratcher. Its because they speak jibberish just like Ozzie.
  18. Trade Contreras (if he'll waive and there are takers), trade Dye, trade Thome (if he'll waive and there are takers), trade Iguchi (if there's a taker), trade Uribe (if there's a taker), trade Buehrle. In that order. You free up $9 + $7 + $15 + $3 + $4 + $9= $47mil in payroll Let Podsednik walk, another $3mil. $50mil Resign Buehrle (5 @ 15), sign Ichiro(4 @13) The key would be getting solid pitching and hitters in return for your trades. We want to keep our strength (Starting pitching) while strengthing our weaknesses (offense and bullpen)
  19. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) KW has failed a number of times, but this artcile seems to have missed many of them. KW didn't fill holes despite all the sellouts and ratings, but the Freddy dump most of us support. What GM hasn't? He won a title, which is the goal. So shut up.
  20. I would blame: Scott Podsenik, Darrin Erstad, Jim Thome, Paul Kornerko, Jermaine Dye, Joe Crede, Juan Uribe, AJ Pierzynski and Tadahito Iguchi... because they suck or crippled. I would also blame: Matt Thorton and Mike MacDougal, because if just one of these two guys didn't suck we would have a better team. But they both suck. I would not blame: KW or JR. This was a good team. We all know it. They just sucked.
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:48 AM) 2 innings, 5 walks, 3 hits, lots of runs, no success. Yeah, but he throws hard
  22. Bravo whitesox61382!!! Perfectly said. Everyone is so worried about getting rid of their prospects when their prospects don't pan out have the time anyways (see Kip Wells, Chris Snopek, Brian Anderson, Joe Borchard). If I had the stock of talent that the Dodgers and Mets do, I wouldn't hesitate to give up one or two prospects for a World Series ring.
  23. I'm betting KW does not trade Dye or Buehrle. I'm betting he is holding this team together to see if they will turn it around. Yes they are 9.5 games but the Astros and Twins both started off bad and came back to make the playoffs. He basically has two options: 1. He holds onto Dye and Buehrle to see if the team turns it around. Best Case Scenario: They turn it around and make the playoffs Worst Case Scenario: They don't make the playoffs. Dye and Buehrle walk via FA, Sox get draft picks, Buehrle and Dye are replaced with Sweeney and Gio/Lance/Gavin. Sox free up $16mil to spend elsewhere. 2. He trades Dye & Buehrle Best Case Scenario: Sox get more major league talent and are ready to compete again next year. Free up $16mil for next year. Worst Case Scenario: Injuries and overhyped prospects keep the Sox at or below .500 #1 really does make the most sense, no matter how bad our team is playing. We don't HAVE to trade Dye and Buehrle. We have replacements for them within the organization or via FA with the money we save when they leave. If KW sees any chance and saving this season he is going to do it. I think he is more of a win today player than a rebuilder. We still have alot of games left with MIN, DET and CLE. We can turn the season around. The question is will we. I know this isn't what the Sox fans want to hear because we are all so frustrated, but its probably the truth. The only way I see KW making a trade is if it is a no brainer and we get tons of talent.
  24. I don't care anymore. Its as useless as complaining about how dumb George Bush is.
  25. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) i would hate it if paulie were traded. i think you have to keep some veteran presence ala Florida - they didnt trade EVERYONE, they left Willis and Cabrera to be leaders. I think it would help this club to continue to have a leader. I suppose you are right. I'm sure Thome and Paulie will be the leftovers. I'd still keep at least two veteran starters.
