More Sox Rumors
I'd be willing to trade Vazquez or Garland if we got at least one reliever and one fielder in return. Say Kemp & Broxton. I would even throw someone their way like Broadway. We would free up money and could use it to get someone else.

More Sox Rumors
QUOTE(spataro51 @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) Why in the heck would we deal danks? He is under are control for 5 more years and he is a damn good lefty that is still developing. If i had to choose i would dump garland because no way in hell is he going to give us a nice hometown discount like Mb did. John is waiting to go pitch out west. The same reason we traded McCarthy, to get more players in return.

Whats the harm in bringing up AA player?
hitlesswonder and balta1701, you both made alot of good points. I never considered the roster issues and the arbitration issues that would arise from calling up a player. I guess they have to do good in AA and then REALLY impress in spring training in order to make the jump.

Whats the harm in bringing up AA player?
Alot of people say we shouldn't bring up AA player because it's too soon, or we might ruin them. I think Ozzie even said we might ruin them. How is bringing up a player in September any different then them playing in Spring Training. If we are out of it in September, the games are just as useless. If anything, they benefit from facing major leaguers. I'd rather see if they are ready now. If Gio, Egbert or Russell came up and dominated, then had a good spring, I would think it's safe to say they are ready. If they come up and do bad, I don't think they are going to kill themselves like everyone else seems to think.

It's Official: We Are Now Tied for Last Place in the Central
Why is everyone so worried about bringing up AA players "too soon" and "ruining" them? Even Ozzie said that. How is bringing a youngster up in September to face major leaguers any different than them facing major leaguers in spring training? Do people thing that if the prospect fails they are going to drink poison (samari style)? If these guys came up and kicked butt, then that would answer alot of questions sooner than later. If they got rocked, then we know they aren't ready for MLB. Look at Danks, he pitched in just 2 major league games before becoming one of our starters. He has gotten his butt kicked. But he's fine. Someone please explain this theory to me.

Contreras
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) Haeger will be fine. Floyd, won't. I think they will both be good. It seems to take Haeger 1/2 a season to come around, then he does good. Floyd has good stuff but like most pitchers just needs to throw strikes. Besides, they are both only like 23 or 24.

Braves made offer to White Sox
Only a moron would trade a good starting pitcher for a good SS. Garland won 36 games from 2005 and 2006. Pitching always wins. Pitching always trumps hitting.

White Sox vs. Red Sox, 7/22/07 (L)
Nice hustle Dye, you lolly gagger.

Adam Russell
He has kind of a 3/4s deliver too doesn't he? Makes his fastball a little deceptive.

Contreras
I think at this point we just hope his velocity gets up and he has a decent second half. Just because our team is basically out of it doesn't mean we have to trade him by July 31. We can always trade him in the offseason. I'd still take him over the Jeff Suppans and Woody Williams of the league. Contreras still has a good arm. Maybe if Danks steps up, Contreras could move to the fith spot. Of his 19 starts, 9 of those starts he went at least 6 innings and gave up 3 or less earned runs (QS?). And one of the 19 starts he went 5 innings and gave up 1 ER. He has been shelled alot though.

Conor Jackson
Conor Jackson to left = Carlos Lee to left

What about Carlos Vasquez??
KW is trying to save face from an offseason of busted deals.

Eric Byrnes
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) Byrnes is on pace for 25 homers and 88 rbi's with 31 steals, so I doubt he will be asking for the world. But then again Ichiro is about to get 20M a year, so logic can be thrown out the window. Plus, look at the rediculous contract Gary Matthews got. And that was just for 1 years performance.

Official Why Not Thread
We have 12 games left against CLE and 14 against DET (I may have counted wrong). So I still have hope. They have both played so good they are bound to cool off. LETS GO SOX!

Danny Richar Trade
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) I would feel a lot better if two of those tools were the ability to catch the ball and throw it to first base I take it he's bad with the glove?

Danny Richar Trade
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) Our hitting prospects in the minors suck. There's no one down there that I'm confident can be a MLB starting position player in the next few years. Why? Just because they didn't light it up when they were given the playing time? Alot of prospects have gotten their butts kicked the first time around: Humber, Pelfrey, Bailey. Baseball is a marathon not a race. I liked seeing Sweeney get a hit off K-rod and scoring the winning run in Anaheim. You have to remember too that alot of prospects don't have their best days UNTIL they get to the majors:

Danny Richar Trade
I didn't realize this kid had so much upside. KW really flew under the radar with this one, at least with me. With all this trade talk I've been trying to figure out what our biggest weaknesses are in our minor league system. I'm starting to like our prospects depth. I think we could use more pitching (can never have enough) and maybe a solid OF prospect.

Buehrle to Red Sox Rumor Planted
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Why the hell would the White Sox want this package? I assume they don't want it considering they didn't do it.
-
Which prospect would you want to see play in the majors the most?
Does anyone know anything about Jason Bourgeois? He's seems to have solid numbers. Sox trading for Richar probably says alot about what they think of Bourgeois.

Mets Interested in Buehrle?
I bet teams are willing to give up more than fans think. There are two odds they keep in mind when trading for a veteran at the deadline: what are the odds that they can win it all? what are the odds that the prospects they trade pan out? Every teams goal is to win it all. The Mets, Yankees and Boston all have tons of money invested in their teams. Anything less than a World Series ring is a complete disappointment to them. Teams like the Dodgers and Arizona are stocked with talent so to lose 2 good prospects doesn't mean anything. Teams like the Brewers don't have many chances to make the playoffs so they have to take advantage when they have the chance. I really believe KW is licking his chops.
-
Good Buehrle thread on Red Sox board...
I'd rather see an OF with 3 of: Owens/Sweeney/Terraro/Acquisition/Ichiro/Anderson I know Sweeney, Owens and Terraro haven't torn it up, but could you imagine the pressure of performing on a talented team that is underachieving like the Sox? The only headlines they get now are how much they suck and who is getting traded. Give the prospects more time.

Mets Interested in Buehrle?
If you look at the teams interested in Sox players, it appears as though KW is putting them up against eachother. Boston & NYY ATL & NYM LAA & SEA SD & LAD & AZ I think KW is running up the price. I think LAD and AZ have the best prospects. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=381&p=9&a...p;rc=4&ai=a
