QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:48 AM) 2 innings, 5 walks, 3 hits, lots of runs, no success. Yeah, but he throws hard

Bravo whitesox61382!!! Perfectly said. Everyone is so worried about getting rid of their prospects when their prospects don't pan out have the time anyways (see Kip Wells, Chris Snopek, Brian Anderson, Joe Borchard). If I had the stock of talent that the Dodgers and Mets do, I wouldn't hesitate to give up one or two prospects for a World Series ring.

I'm betting KW does not trade Dye or Buehrle. I'm betting he is holding this team together to see if they will turn it around. Yes they are 9.5 games but the Astros and Twins both started off bad and came back to make the playoffs. He basically has two options: 1. He holds onto Dye and Buehrle to see if the team turns it around. Best Case Scenario: They turn it around and make the playoffs Worst Case Scenario: They don't make the playoffs. Dye and Buehrle walk via FA, Sox get draft picks, Buehrle and Dye are replaced with Sweeney and Gio/Lance/Gavin. Sox free up $16mil to spend elsewhere. 2. He trades Dye & Buehrle Best Case Scenario: Sox get more major league talent and are ready to compete again next year. Free up $16mil for next year. Worst Case Scenario: Injuries and overhyped prospects keep the Sox at or below .500 #1 really does make the most sense, no matter how bad our team is playing. We don't HAVE to trade Dye and Buehrle. We have replacements for them within the organization or via FA with the money we save when they leave. If KW sees any chance and saving this season he is going to do it. I think he is more of a win today player than a rebuilder. We still have alot of games left with MIN, DET and CLE. We can turn the season around. The question is will we. I know this isn't what the Sox fans want to hear because we are all so frustrated, but its probably the truth. The only way I see KW making a trade is if it is a no brainer and we get tons of talent.

I don't care anymore. Its as useless as complaining about how dumb George Bush is.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) i would hate it if paulie were traded. i think you have to keep some veteran presence ala Florida - they didnt trade EVERYONE, they left Willis and Cabrera to be leaders. I think it would help this club to continue to have a leader. I suppose you are right. I'm sure Thome and Paulie will be the leftovers. I'd still keep at least two veteran starters.
-
This is the largest group of underachievers I have ever seen. Anyone over 30 should be sent packing. Even Paulie. Thanks for the memories.......NEXT!

We've seen them all a little so far. Who are you most impressed with?

Our scouts suck and our development sucks. So far our top prospects haven't shown us anything: Fields, Sweeney & Anderson. I wouldn't be suprised that if/when we become sellers, we aim high for prospects. Dye, Buehrle and possibly another one of our starters (Contreras?) should give us some decent return. I for one would like to have at least one good OF prospect in return.

Great, another way to measure how much our team sucks. We must scour the internet for more!

Poll: Most Important Offseason Acquisition

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Who do you target in free agency to sure up the pen then? Relief pitching is such an insane crapshoot, shelling out big money to some of the most inconsistent players in all of sports just seems silly. Who said they have to be acquired via free agency? Why not via trade? -
Poll: Most Important Offseason Acquisition
striker replied to RME JICO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Everyone that voted for CF, LF and RF apparently hasn't been watching the Whitesox this year. Pitching wins baseball games, not CFs, LFs or RFs. Right now our starting pitching looks solid. I'm sure KW will make some move to bring us some more pitching. Our bullpen sucks. 10 Losses 11 blown saves 153 IP 175 hits 88 BB 5.82 ERA LF, CF, RF??? You should be ashamed of yourselves. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 04:13 AM) the most idiotic thing the sox could do is make a trade right now. The value of Dye, Buehrle and anyone else will only go up the closer we get to July 31. I have to disagree with you. The closer you get to July 31st, the more teams that will be out of the race. Demand goes down, price goes down. Plus, teams would probably give more for a rental player for 3 months than for 2 months. Dye and Iguchi are the only players I see us moving. I think Terrero could replace Dye. Not necssarily '06 Dye, but any other season.

Joe Crede to 15 day DL, Josh Fields called up from AAA.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) Why do I have a feeling Fields won't play? Ozzie is going to keep on keepin' on and playing Cintron at 3B every day. *sigh* Fields will play against left handed pitchers and Cintron will play against right handed pitchers, because Ozzie things righties hit lefties and lefties hit righties. But Ozzie is wrong. In fact, I bet most lefties today (Moyer, Buehrle, Glavine) all pitch better against righties because of their changeup. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:41 AM) Here is a simple question for you Striker, no one else, just you. What exactly is Greg Walker's He's the batting coach. Whats your first grade teachers job? To teach addition and subtraction. But if you give the wrong change as a McDonald's cashier does everyone start posting on your elementary school's website to fire your first grade teacher? No. The McDonalds cashier thing is just an analogy.

I just wanted to point out to all the nay sayers of Guillen, Williams and Walker that this is one of the most talented Whitesox teams I have ever seen take the field. Williams did an AWESOME job this offseason to field a team that had the capability to win. That is his job. That is all he can do. Its up to the player to perform and win. The problem is that every player, with the exception of Jenks and the starting pitching, has just plain sucked. For some reason or another they just aren't good. No manager or general manager could have ever predicted this. Could Williams predict that Aardsma and MacDougal would suck this bad after finishing their 2006 seasons complete studs? No. Could Williams predict that the best offensive MLB team in 2006 would be batting .232 after 52 games? No. Williams found the right players for the job, but the players haven't been doing their job. It's not Williams fault. Can you blame Guillen? Why? Because of the lineup he chooses? Because of the timing of the reliever he brings in? No. Because no matter what the lineup is right now, they aren't going to hit. No matter who the reliever is he brings in, they are going to suck. Can you blame Walker? Yes you can. Its all his fault our team is hitting .232. Because he taught them to suck. No, you can't blame Walker. The hitters just aren't doing their jobs. And they are all VERY VERY capable of hitting. So what's the point of this post? Stop blaming Williams, Guillen and Walker. And stop whining. Despite being 7.5 games out of our division lead and 5 games back of the wildcard, we are still a VERY VERY talented team and we are very capable of making the playoffs. If it takes 95 wins to make the playoffs who care which 95 games we win?? I'm sure you were a lot happier Whitesox fan this time last year, but how did we finish? LETS GO SOX!

Putting This One Right Where It Belongs -- On Kenny Williams
striker replied to Friend of Nordhagen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I liked the deals this offseason that Kenny made. He got good players they just didn't play good. Thome and Podsednik got injured. And now our pitching sucks. There are so many variables in baseball and they all have to lineup. You have to think about how everything went our way in '05 and now it doesn't. I'm not going to judge anything until the trade deadline Look at the brightside, the Yankees are one of the worst 5 teams in all of baseball. -
Kalapse, did you build that Salary sheet? Thats pretty slick.
-
Great now Danks will lose to Santana instead of losing to Kazmir, who will both dominate our hitters.
-
It seems like all but like 6 teams in baseball is under .500.
-
Did anyone else notice that EVERY team we play in June is under .500? Drool
-
I repeat, you have to PITCH INSIDE.
-
Aardsma has to pitch inside. Especially on a cold day.
