  1. If they call this game, Everett shall be known as Rain Man.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Rain still looks like 45-60 minutes away to me. This is 15 minutes ago.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Shocker...Rowand grounds out to CF. I wouldn't mind going crazy and giving Rowand a day off with Anderson or Borch in CF and Everett a day off with Gload or Borch DH'ing. How do you ground out to CF?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Is the rain coming?
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/100-BRANDON-McCARTHY-C...1QQcmdZViewItem You could keep Brandon busy in the offseason...
  6. You can almost get one with a signature on it already for the same price as a regular card.
  7. Why do brides wear white? So that the dishwasher matches the refridgerator and stove.
  8. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) Complete no-trade clause. He's due 15M next season, Philly would have to eat a lot of dough. Konerko will probably make $10-12mill in the FA market. Thome is from Illinois; he might waive it to play in the same division against the Indians. See if Philly will pay $5 mill a year, I say.
  9. As I said in the GM thread in FutureSox... What about Jim Thome?
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) Phillies will pay 1/3 of his contract, but want big time talent in return. If the Sox take his entire monster contract, he can be had for less probably.
  11. Looks to me like you can listen live on the 'net. http://www.560wind.com/weblogs/kmc/default.aspx
  12. Jim Thome anyone? He will be healthier next year most likely and can be had cheaply, I bet.
  13. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) By the way, my general plan: -Everett, El Duque, and Marte must go. Try to package the latter two for a real hitter (like some of the lower profile guys I mentioned) and add a prospect if necessary. -Resign guys like A.J., Garland, Politte, and whatever other lesser guys are due. (too lazy to look). -Try to resign Pauly. I wouldn't go much higher than 3/$30. If it goes higher, so be it. If he does go, try like hell to get Giles, I think he'd do well. Put him in RF and move Dye to first, or DH depending on who is acquired in the first part. He could also be used as insurance if Dye gets hurt. -Look into acquiring a serious bat, preferrably lefty, a la Teixeira, Dunn, Huff, or Ryan Howard. If a starter must be dealt, I'd lean toward Freddy or the Count. These two are more expensive than Garland and seem to be more inconsistent. Don't trade Buehrle or McCarthy under any circumstances. I'd deal any prospect except Anderson or Sweeney. Find a cheap veteran inning eater type if one of the starters is dealt. -Look into getting a 3B. Blalock would be a priority, Bill Mueller is a fallback. A more dangerous hitter is important. Crede could be kept as a backup, or used as part of the deal. -See if we can get Frank back at a lower cost. Let him walk if necessary. -Acquire a cheap LOOGY. The lineup should look something like this, depending on if we could/couldn't acquire one of the impact bats. I'll insert them as needed: LF Podsednik 2B Iguchi CF Rowand 1B Konerko/Teixeira/Dunn/Huff/Howard/other guys I'm leaving out/Dye RF Dye/Giles DH same guys as 1B and Tracy/Overbay/Thomas/whoever 3B Blalock/Mueller/other guy/Crede if we're desperate C Pierzynski SS Uribe SP Buehrle SP Garcia/veteran fill-in SP Garland/veteran fill-in SP Contreras/veteran fill-in SP McCarthy CL Jenks SU Politte, Hermansen, Cotts MR Vizcaino, Baj, random LOOGY Edit- clearly I wouldn't bat guys like Teixeira 6th, or Giles 5th. I'd move them up to 3/4 depending on the rest of the lineup. Helloooo fantasy baseball. :headshake
  14. I hear that the Brownie bribed Congress with Thin Mint Cookies.

  23. Just before Olerud joined the Jays, there were some doubts that he would ever be lifting a bat or glove again. After a regular early morning workout at the college's Hollingberry Fieldhouse, Olerud collapsed. The diagnosis was a brain aneurysm, a defect in a blood vessel that caused bleeding into his spinal column.
  24. Olerud showed promise early on at Washington State, where he was named Baseball America's NCAA Player of the Year in 1987 and '88. His senior year, he recovered from a frightening brain aneurysm in January to hit .359 with 30 RBIs in 27 games that spring. The scare would always be with him though, and he began wearing a batting helmet on the field for safety.
