  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) And the green monster since Jason Bay bats RIGHT handed. He said that he was a lefty. Sorry, I didn't look it up.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) I would like the Sox to win. I love it when you analyze.
  3. Even a sucky team would take a decent reliever in waivers.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) Jason Bay this year: .282/.375/.519/.894 22 home runs, 23 doubles 64 RBI's in 106 games. Manny Ramirez this year: .299/.398/.529/.926 20 home runs, 22 doubles, 68 RBI's in 100 games. Bay has a career .900 OPS, is six years younger than Ramirez, is a better defender, and is also under contract in 2009 and could be kept long term to play left field. Not to mention the fact that Pittsburgh is a HORRIBLE hitters park for a lefty like Bay. Obviously seeing AL pitching won't help Bay, but the green monster in left field will. Team chemistry and personal conflicts are still overrated BS people like to say because it's been said for a long time. Manny Ramirez is an extreme example case, and they still got Jason Bay to play his spot, who at this point in time isn't that big of a dropoff (a minimal one IMO) from Ramirez at this stage of his career. The shallow RF and Pesky's Pole will help Bay as well.
  5. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) Does the waiver wire go in inverse order of last year's full standings or the current season's standings? Current, I believe.
  6. QUOTE (Pirrranhas @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 06:41 PM) DId you guys catch the game last night??? Did you know that you misspelled "piranha"?
  7. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) Maybe Griffey as the DH? Who knows if KW will take Thome's option and Pauly may be traded west this winter. The option is a vesting option. Not a club option. It automatically kicks in if he reaches a certain number of plate appearances.
  8. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) But if the White Sox claim somebody, they have, I believe, 48 hours to work on a deal. No play has to "clear" waivers. I would think that Minnesota would block us.

    The Dark Knight

    You know, I thought about it a bit. If you're thinking outside of the box in casting The Riddler, you know who might make a good Riddler if he wasn't busy? Quentin Tarantino.
  10. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6aolr_nash-davis_people Steve Nash and Baron Davis are Step Brothers
  11. I could see: OC AJ CQ Thome Dye Griffey Lexi Swisher Fields/Uribe Ozzie's obsession with lefty/righty alternating will rear its ugly head, yet again.

    The Dark Knight

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) Does the Riddler have a back-story? If so, what is it? I'm looking in the direction of the comic book buffs, kyyle, etc. And please no one post a link to Wikipedia. I just want a brief summary. Yeah. Obsessive-Compulsive who was beaten by his father for being too smart. Cheated and tricked people for profit as a youth/younger adult. Moved up to tormenting Batman for the challenge.
  13. This is going to be worth the wait, I believe. I'm going to go with a slightly different format. Early thanks is in order to the folks helping me with this.
  14. How many guys have gone through in the last 5 years?
  15. My point was that you can't get quality relief pitching through waivers. I hope that your trip through Overreaction Land got you a free T-Shirt.

    QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 03:01 AM) I meant, in movies, why is there feedback every time someone speaks into a mic? Comedic effect.
  17. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) BILLLLL BRANSKI!!!! I don't know if Joe Mauer could scissor-kick Angela Lansbury.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) At this rate, Joe Mauer will be 8' 4" by 2010. Paul Bunyan-esque
  19. Hawk must be wondering where's our George Foster? Why didn't KW send a great talent like Bobby Bonilla away for a mediocre SP like Jose DeLeon?

    QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) In movies, Why does the phone number always start with 555? Why is it that every time someone speaks into a mic in there's feedback? Any other 'always' you've noticed? Phones are 555 because if Hollywood used your phone number instead of 555, you'd be pissed at the number of calls that you'd get from morons at 3 am. Mics get feedback because they need to be calibrated to the distance between them and the system speakers. Too close level and distance-wise and you get feedback.
  21. My feel... Tonight is another showcase for Wise. He may be a waiver trade.
