  1. Yikes. I'm not watching this game. I have no interest in watching Luol Deng attempt to create his own shot and JL shoot 25 times.
  2. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 11:43 AM) I'll take 3200 passing yds, 17 TD's and 5 int from Alex. The Saints made those turnovers because of our great defense and special teams. We play all 3 parts of the football game very well. The Saints haven't a face team that hits harder than us all year. And the Saints still scored 32 points.
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) Actually Alex Smith has been playing like this for most of the season. I've to give Harbaugh a lot of credit for giving Alex the confidence even before the season started. I'll agree with about Eli. He's an elite QB I know you love your boy. But no, he went above and beyond anything he had done previously this year. He won them that game.
  4. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) I wrote a few weeks ago that I though last year's Packers 10-6 team was better than this year's 15-1 team soley on the fact that GB's D was awesome last year, while this year they were awful, all it took was a team that was solid on D and have a more than capable O.I'm shocked though how eay the Giants beat the Pack, if it wasn't for two awful ref calls, it would've been more of a beatdown. If the 49ers and Ravens make it to the SB, that would go against the "passing offense wins in today's NFL" thinking, wouldn't it? Like Badger said, Alex Smith had the game of his life and actually bailed SFs defense out. Eli Manning is no longer Peyton's little brother. He's a proven/great QB who's two wins away from one upping big brother in the ring department. This past weekend did nothing to distort the fact that his is a pass-heavy league and you better have a QB and weapons for that QB to win.
  5. The Giants' D is next. These offenses simply cannot be stopped. The Saints didn't even look all that good and they dropped 30+ on the Niners.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Manu hadn't been starting? This is news to me. Not now. I'm talking during their championship years.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Shades of Game 1 of last year's ECF. s***, I missed it. Was it similar to the Wade poster or the other one?
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Why the hell is he still on the bench? He could obviously start. But that's a hell of a weapon to bring off the bench. Think Manu with the Spurs.
  9. Yeah, um, the Knicks aren't really all that good. Down 30 to the Thunder late in the third quarter. And how unfair is it that a team that features two of the top 10 players in the league can throw the beast that is James Harden at you off the bench? This guy can drop 20 points on your ass in 20 minutes without sweating.
  10. Well, so much for this game. Two top defenses absolutely shredded today.
  11. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) The Packers will have their hands full tomorrow. The Giants are a great team No they're not.
  12. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) I just got back from the game.. Besides going to the World Series game 2, this was the best game I have ever went to. Go 49ers!!!! I hope the Packers lose tomorrow, so I can be at the championship game next weekend The word "duh" comes to mind.
  13. Man, I don't want to hear anything about defense anymore. Edit: I missed the turnover that led to the second TD. Point still remains.
  14. Today's NFL personified in about a 6 minute stretch. It's all about the passing offense.
  15. lmao. Wow! I wanted the Niners to lose. But not like this.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) Felix though is already being paid nearly $20 million each of the next 3 seasons. The "Surplus value" he might be creating would still be $5-10 million or so if he keeps performing like he has the last 3. Pineda was already worth $15 million in fangraphs last year, while being paid league minimum. The fact that Felix is going to be paid highly ought to make a big difference here. Then keep him. Felix has been cheated out of at least 1 CY because the M's offense is so incompetent. Not only is Felix worth every cent he's being paid, he's a mega-draw. You'll stop what you're doing to watch him pitch. You'll buy tickets, even if the team sucks, whenever Felix takes the mound. And he's only 25? No way. Either bend a team over Herschel Walker style or no deal. Edit: I take it back. Felix hasn't been cheated out of any CYs. Greinke was clearly better in '09 and Verlander was the man last year. The point still remains the same. If I don't feel 99% of the baseball world will think I decisively got the best of any trade involving Felix, it's just not worth it.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) This is Felix we're talking about. That's the point. For Felix, NOTHING outside of two A prospects and another B+/- prospect will suffice. Who can come up with that? I like the two B's from the Yankees. But that's not enough for me. I want a f***ing Bryce Harper or Mike Trout back for Felix.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) Then trade Felix and his salary for a haul, not the cost-controlled Pineda. And who wants/can pay the price?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) That alone seems like it wouldn't be enough to motivate people to give up a top flight pitcher. Alwasy wonder with these deals what the stuff behind the scenes might be. I can see the logic. You're not winning anything with a dead-ball era offense. I mean, right now the majority are going to go with Pineda > Montero because we've seen Pineda for a year. If Montero's bat is as real as everybody thinks it is, combined with at least one of Walker, Hultzen or Paxton panning out, nobody will look at it as a bad deal for the Mariners. That's obviously what they (the M's) are rolling with.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:18 AM) I don't understand what on Earth would possess the Mariners to do this trade. Check out the Mariners' offensive statistics last year and the reasoning becomes rather clear.
  21. I can't wait for this game. I just bought two Mickeys, some hot sauce, and a big f***ing bag of cheese popcorn. I actually like the Niners. But Obama's made me hate them for now. Go Saints!
  22. I'd rather just keep Floyd. I think we've accumulated enough pitching prospects for now. Floyd has a very affordable contract. But teams aren't giving up worthwhile talent for guys they can't control for 4+ years.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) They didn't start 17-1 in 1996? Hmm...interesting. They were 16-2 after 18 games in '96.
