Another White Sox / Blue Jays trade on the horizon?
Jordan4life_2007 replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) Unfortunately I still think the Sox have a solid team and the move I pointed out serves two purposes makes the current team stronger and builds for the future. If Jackson wants to come back to Chicago I think there are ways to get it done. I also think there are four guys that know the White Sox budget and none of them write for a living. Really? Unless you're drinkin' the same s*** Hawk does every year, there's little to no chance of this being a solid team. And what the hell purpose would Edwin Jackson serve for the future? -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Celtics would do that in a heartbeat. Korver + Brewer + 2-3 second round picks for Allen. This lineup: Rose - Watson Allen - Hamilton Deng - Butler Boozer - Gibson Noah - Asik ? Noah's going to the Celtics in his scenario. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) So we get to hear about Westbrook and Durant feuding for 5 more years. He didn't have to sign the extension. The supposed "feud" is for the most part made up and overblown. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) Trade Noah for Allen and a pick or two. 100% IN on that, though the Celtics would never do it. Noah's been awful. But Omer Asik as a full-time starter with nothing behind him isn't too appeasing. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 10:04 AM) http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...n-in-san-diego/ The "we should've gotten more for CQ" crowd needs to read this article. Markedly thorough and on point. Padres fans are the ones that should be pissed.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 10:57 PM) In my original post on the matter there were questions. But you said a "serious" question. I don't see anything remotely close to a serious question in either post.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) If that's the case then it is absolutely sick that the Sox are keeping them and not just eating the money. Assuming all three are trash, the Sox are going to keep them around ... for what reason? Reading your post, keeping those 3 bums is a reason the team cannot compete. So why keep them? It would be better then to just eat those millions and millions of dollars. Instead of a Disco Demolition night, have a night where we burn their salaries with fake monopoly money. People get on me for being a troll yet I ask what I feel is a serious question and no responses. This team is FULL of veterans and we are assuming the team will completely suck. I guess that means we are like those old Baltimore teams that had some veterans but were out of it before the AS break every year. A serious question? Where? You haven't asked one yet.

6/60 for Yu. Prince is basically a lock to sign with the Nationals now.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) NBA GM Survey Kobe's one of the top 10-12 players to ever play the game. But god f*** is his defense epically overrated. It's borderline Jeter. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) All I remember was when Rose was drafted, everyone said "finding a good PG is impossible." Well s***. And Dwight's a b****. More than LeBron. This is all within like a 5-year period. This s*** is crazy now. Also, this will be random. But I've seen enough: Steve Nash is the second greatest PG (behind Magic) to ever live. Dude is like 40 and still leading the league in assists. He's arguably the greatest shooter of all-time and has led one of the most efficient offensive attacks the league has ever seen yearly since '05. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) He's another CP3. He's no LeBron, obviously. But he's a pretty sweet consolation prize. I've never, ever seen this many electrifying PGs in the league all at the same time. Rose, Wall (who dropped 38 last night), Rondo, Deron, Irving, Paul, Westbrook, Conley, Lawson, Rubio and probably a couple others I'm forgetting. -
Should Lillibridge be in our everyday lineup in 2012?

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) So based on what you're saying, Beckham is unquestionably the everyday talent and Lilli is not? Just to make sure I'm following your logic. To me, it's way more hazy than that. Thanks to GB. Yes. This team has no chance at contending. Give Gordon 500 ABs and see what happens. Lillibridge peaked last year. That's as good as it's gonna get for him. I don't want to see him in the lineup everyday. -
Man, you guys watch a lot of TV. I haven't even heard of half these shows. Will more TV mean less alcohol for me? I need to stop drinking so much.

Jordan4life_2007 replied to sunofgold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) well he's not great, but the whole 500-600 at-bats logic doesn't matter if we're completely devoid of passable talent at 2b at the major league level or nearMLB-ready level. awful to say, but lilli may be the best talent we have for 2b. but that is something you have to determine in spring training and then decide how many wins it's worth to you to stall Beckham's development/value He's not an everyday talent. Sure, Beckham could implode again and he (Lillibridge) would be the guy by default. That doesn't mean he should play everyday. -

Hell no. Brent Lillibridge with 550-600+ ABs in a season? That's no good. Say what you will about Ozzie - but he did right by Brent last year. 200-250 ABs tops is what a guy with his skill-set warrants. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) Yeah, the Bulls are awful to watch without Rose, they are SO dependent on Rose to score and create and Rose pulling double teams opens up the floor for others. On a positive note, CJ looked really good....less Lucas please!!! It's not that much different (and the main reason I'm so cynical) than LeBron and the Cavs from '07-'10. Sure, you can rack up the regular season win totals, especially in the eastern conference. But in the playoffs, all it takes is that one team that matches-up well with you and can expose your over-reliance on a single player. -

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) What team (save Heat and maybe Lakers/Thunder) isn't a lottery team without it's star? Any team would suffer. But some teams would be just unwatchable. The Bulls are one of those teams. -

Man, Kyrie Irving can f***in' ball. I know he was the first pick and all. But I didn't think he'd be this good right away. He's basically doing what Rose did his rookie year. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) One thing worth considering though...that model might well be a lot more sustainable than we think. The Sox have managed to stay "Competitive" at some level for nearly a decade with that model, only drafting in the top 10 once. They've overhauled their roster repeatedly, and still wound up close to a pennant race every year. And for most of that time, they've had one of the bottom systems in the big leagues...they've just managed to pull their wins out of a different place, finding undervalued discards that teams were willing to give up for various reasons and turning them around. This model might be a lot more sustainable than you'd think. It might look pretty darn good if we pulled out either the Swisher or Jackson trades, or if 1 of Dunn/Rios/Peavy hadn't fully imploded, or if Quentin could have stayed healthy. Five missed Octobers in the last six seasons says otherwise. The current model is played out. Been played out.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) 12-3 isn't bad all things considered but Lord the Bulls look awful. Grizzlies feast at home. Not really a big deal that they're going to lose this game - especially without Rose. They have a much bigger long-term concern with Noah. -

Is their a worse starting C in basketball right now than Noah? His game is insulting.
