  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) It takes more than a year or two to restock the farm system and establish top level young players. We are talking about several years of mediocrity, and even then its not a proven solution. And the last 5 1/2 years have been just that.
  2. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) If I had it my way. The Sox would trade Danks, Floyd, Peavy, Thornton, AJ, Rios, PK, Dunn, Quentin, Crain, Frasor and Ohman. I would start over and get some great top prospects into this organzation, so we can compete for many years to come and not just be a middle of the road team. A team next year full of young hungry prospects couldn't do any worse, then what we have seen this year.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) I thought the Sox had control of Humber for a few years if they wanted? If he's just going to walk after resurrecting his career/potential here, I say pitch him until his arm falls off. Save the guys who WILL be with us next season. This is what I was thinking. He only had a year or so of service time coming into this season. They shouldn't have to pay him s*** for a while.
  4. Dan Uggla's slashline on July 4th: .173/.241/.327/.568 Dan Uggla's slashline since July 4th: .341/.411/.707/1.117 That's all we needed from Done. Just a sustained stretch of dominance. He's the biggest failure in White Sox history.
  5. f*** Done and this mental crap. All we needed was a f***ing three week stretch of dominance from him at ANY point of the season. With that, we might still be in this thing. Look what Dan Uggla has done. He was just about as bad as Done a month ago and he's turned it around. Done came into this season fat and outta shape because his lard ass got paid. I don't feel sorry for him. No remorse. He's torpedoed this season.
  6. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) We've been over this 100,000,000,000,000 times.... DUNN can't be send down lol. Let it go, dude.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) So you'll be back in 2014? Which is why I've stated repeatedly that you don't draft set-up men/closers that early. There were questions surrounding his long-term prognostication from day one. He should've been in the minors conditioning himself to start from jump. At least we'd have a much better grasp on what his future is.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 08:05 PM) Your words make Chris Sale sad. And he'll make me happy once we can fully pencil him into the rotation for 200 innings or so a year. That's obviously not going to happen next year. But it's rotation or bust as far as I'm concerned.
  9. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Considering those 3 players are equally worthless on the road, you might consider the players themselves (or blame it on the hitting coach) and not disregard the park's obvious advantage played towards the hitters. If you question USCF just reference Konerko's home/road splits over his career: HOME: .295 .375 .553 ROAD: .270 .343 .453 PK has been here his entire career. We always hear when acquiring a new guy or rumored to be after a certain player that playing at the Cell should enhance his power production. Haven't seen it at all the last 3-5 years.
  10. +1 Stan on the Trumbo reference. I made the comparison about a month ago or so.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) I don't know. IF the Sox think they could keep Kubel next year, this might be a nice move to try and help pick him up. Plus, it would give the Sox the ability to offer him arbitration if they'd like. Kubel would look nice in the lineup next year and would probably see a bounce back in his power numbers moving away from Target field. After Swisher, Rios and Done, I no longer believe in the automatic power spike that's supposed to occur when playing at the Cell.
  12. Great. The fluff has already begun. I'm lookin' forward to next year, too, Jake. Because that will be the last year we have to endure you and your albatross contract.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) You know how it is Rock. Everyone else's prospects are way better than your own of course. Well, it's true.
  14. Speaking of zombies, I'm playing Altered Beast for Sega Genesis. I can't believe this f***er still works.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) It's amazing that the Dodgers could get the MVP and CY and finish in 4th. Goes to show you that baseball isn't a 'team' sport in the same manner that basketball and football is. It's a very individual-centric game wrapped up in a team concept. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) I'm insulting the White Sox ability to produce prospects, and I'm making excuses? You're at the forefront of that movement haha. Make up your mind here.... I misunderstood your initial post. But we can't forfeit the draft/prospects for eternity because we fail to develop from within.
  16. Think the Cubs are going to go away from the high-profile manager. Tried it with Dusty/Lou and it failed miserably.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) He's certainly shown signs of being a bust. He hasn't really dominated in AAA enough to make me think he'll be more productive than Quentin. Throw in his awful MLB stint this year and he's at least questionable. I'm sure he'll be fine, but there have to be at least doubts. You talking about this year? Because he demolished the minors in '09/'10. He hasn't been healthy this year. He'd have to have another season comparable to this year in '12 before you can even think about bust.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) The Sox definitely need to sit down with Dunn and ask him, 'Seriously Adam, we know we have to pay you, but would you consider retirement if you are not hitting .250 or better in mid May with at least 8 homers by then? I mean a guy with his approach has to hit 30 home runs to be even serviceable. That's five measly home runs a momth. Considering all his Ks and DPs, don't you agree 30 home runs minimum for Dunn or he is pretty much worthless to a club?? :lolhitting
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) Isn't ALvarez showing signs of being a bust? Thornton is a throw in at this point. He's aging and now hittable. Nope. He's been injured for the most part. He was the #2 pick in the draft just a few years ago. The bat is real and he's going to be great.
  20. Let's trade Rios straight up for McCutchen. Then I propose a Peavy/Dunn/Thornton swap for Cole/Taillon and a player to be named later (Josh Bell).
  21. Startin' to see why prophet AA was willing to part with Stewart. His stuff does not impress me.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) Realistically, how many of those guys do you really think will come through to their potential? Heck Santana has had a Gordon Beckham type season already. Don't make me sick Kalapse or qwerty on you. Santana >> Beckham. Not even close.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Rowand in 2005 was the ultimate homer (I mean that respectfully). Great poster though That rowand44 guy is garbage. I demand he explain himself. And apparently he did. So I'm done.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) I got better things to do, like stab myself in the eyeball with a fork. You're much more negative than me of late. Explain yourself!
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) It felt lonely at times, but I kept the faith on the Indians. You'll disagree, but their future is infinitely better than ours. Santana, Chisenhall (did I spell that correctly?), Cabrera, Kipnis, Choo, Ubaldo, Masterson > any top 7 core you can come up with from our end.
