  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Anybody clamoring for Oz to remove Danks in a 2-0 game in the seventh inning now that Olivo found the line for a 2B? No. He's fine. He's not even at 90 pitches yet and he's been dominant.
  2. Can anybody imagine Jerry touching another high-profile FA ever again? He still wont let go of the Borchard debacle.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) The rest of the league is much more likely to feel disbelief than jealousy or whatever it is that you're trying to suggest they'd feel. 10 years of performing like Dunn did and that's a fair contract. No one is going to begrudge him for the arbitration rules. And once again Balta takes a post literally to the extreme. Calm down, buddy. It was a joke.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) I wonder what other MLB players are saying about Dunn. Ryan Braun: "Gee, this guy is making more than Evan Longoria and myself combined this year."
  5. You can already see Danks is going to have to throw successive zeros up there for us to have any shot.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) I'm rooting for 0 for rest of season for the .1% chance he retires. But it's all mental.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) I predict another 3 K performance against Pineda. 1 down, 2 to go.
  8. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) LOL Dunn at first again I predict another 3 K performance against Pineda.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) Brewers are playing amazing baseball. On a run like we were last year heading into ASB. Doug Melvin has to be the favorite for executive of the year. Emptied out the system to give it one last go before Prince hits FA and it's paid off magnificently. That's a damn good baseball team. A 1-2-3 at the front of the rotation as good as any in baseball sans Philly. A powerful offense led by the brilliant aforementioned Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun. A bullpen that features, IMO, the best closer in baseball not named Craig Kimbrel. They play pretty good defense. Hopefully, Weeks gets back in there soon. NL playoffs are going to be a lot of fun.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) The Sox will probably make a nice little run in Sept. Finish a few games over .500, wind up in 2nd place, and 5 years from now KW and Ozzie backers will bring up 2011 as a successful season. Five years? Scott Merkin has already begun writing his fluff piece.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) back up what? His bad overall fitness? Nobody but dunn would be able to back it up. All i see is a large man who looks pretty damn slow swinging the bat, and has all season long. Considering he is one of the more renowned sluggers of he past 10 years, it is mighty strange that he signs a large contract, goes about his business of not swinging the bat all offseason and now has one of the historically worst seasons hitting. Nobody has to back up anything IMO. The proof is right in front of your face Good lord this was outstanding.
  12. Has it been confirmed that Dayan will be in the lineup tonight?
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 12:23 AM) Do people really think Dunn will hit another home all year? He'll hit 3 on the final day of the regular season and Scott Merkin, Hawk, Ranger and Elrockin will classify it as a moral victory and something positive to go into 2012 with.
  14. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 12:08 AM) hard to complain about a guy who has a 1.69 era in 58 ip this year.. i know you arent doing that though, i just wanted to point out hes been pretty dominant all year for us Yeah, pretty sure it's not that low.
  15. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) Yes I think one of the best things about Lillibridge this season is how Ozzie has used him, I don't think wed be seeing the same production had he been a starter this whole time.. and lol, I remember when J4L called Lilli an embarrassment to the game of baseball Well he was. Find me one human being that predicted this kinda pop.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Would an OF of Lilli-De Aza-Viciedo with Milledge as the 4th OF be the worst thing in the world for next year? That's no good for me. Viciedo in RF is fine. I don't think Lillibridge or De Aza are everyday players. I liken Lilly to the role Mike Napoli has filled for the Rangers. Napoli has started at 1B. C and DH. Lilly can play all 3 OF positions, 2B, 1B and DH. There's plenty of at bats for him without overexposing him. De Aza is a 4th OF to me. Rios is going nowhere, obviously. I do want a LF with some pop.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) Yep. They need to develop a WAR metric for managers. Ozzie's would be -14.5. Brent should have way more than 160 ABs.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) Lillibridge is just awesome right now. Very short, compact swing. He should be in the lineup tomorrow. As he's one of maybe 3 guys in this lineup I feel confident in against Pineda.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) Carp has a fantastic swing I like what I've seen so far. I didn't realize he was hitting for so much power.
  20. I like this Robinson kid. And who the hell is Mike Carp?
  21. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) The Sox owners have money, they just don't spend much of it and when they do it's put into hands of incompetent management. You can't be all-in and have as many glaring weaknesses the Sox did going into the season. If you're all in you're trying to get Granderson (which was doable during the off-season if the Sox had offered Danks), Beltre and Gonzalez. All they got for they're all-in trouble was a 48 million dollar stiff. And now the Sox are Dunn. Maybe someday the Sox will have ownership committed to producing an elite organization. Granderson, Beltre and Gonzalez? Hmmm. Unrealistic much? Though a competent farm could've landed Agon.
  22. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) If this was like 2008, where there's no real clear cut contenders for MVP, he might have a chance, but too many guys have the credentials on the offensive side. A pitcher is going to have to win 30 (or come close to it) with like a 1 something ERA to win an MVP I don't know. I'm thinking that having so many candidates from the top two teams could be a little detrimental. Bautista is not going to get it. No position player from the central or west is deserving. You look at what Verlander has meant to that team, and you could see him realistically winning it.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) I do hate change for the sake of change. You're totally right. Any changes made within this organization would no doubt be changing just to change. Status quo 4eva!
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) Possibly, but this means no 2nd place finishes with the team contending during the season, this means the team is out of it from the first pitch. No 2nd place finishes? God no. That would be awful.
