  1. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) Cal Ripken Jr. only got 98.53% of the Vote. Who WOULD LEAVE HIM OFF THEIR BALLOT?! Jeter's not getting 100% It's not even a matter of worthy. There will always be old codgers who think the way baseball was played when they were kids back when the world was in black and white was the unequivocal "RIGHT" way and this generation has to be punished. And these guys live seemingly FOREVER. Well said. The baseball HOF makes me sick. It's like having a panel of strictly Hawk Harrelson clones.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) I prefer him over Morel right now. He hits better. His defense at 3b is not as good, but he has the flexibility to play 2b/SS. Also, Morel has options and could use the ABs in the minors. A platoon of Teahen/Vizquel is ugly, but I'd prefer it if it gets Dayan a roster spot too. That's Mrs. Garrett ugly.
  3. I think I'm starting to miss the steroid era. Give Gavin his props. He got the job done. But other than Cabrera and Hafner, wow, awful f***ing lineup Cleveland put out there. The offense (save for CQ) sucked again. That's why it's futile to get excited by this team, even when they win. Until this offense starts to consistently produce 4.5-5 runs a game, we will not go on any kinda run.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) Again, I didn't like it, but if he did put up a .900 ops in 2009 he'd have walked right into free agency. KW was expecting he traded for a guy that would be worth $13 million; so locking him up for 3 years would have been smart. The problem was that Teahen wasn't the player kenny thought. KW has been wrong quite a bit of late. I can't with a clear conscious get on him for the Dunn signing. That's all Adam. But KW has been bad the last three years. No other way to put it.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) Of course Mitchell goes out and has 4 hits tonight, including 2 doubles. That was my plan all along. I thought this was obvious.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Teahen was viewed as a serious moneyball style prospect coming up through the Royals system, just like the guys you adore so much now. He got here and took a bit of time struggling, but then killed the ball for a > .900 ops for the second half of 06. After that though the Royals started moving him around and never gave him a consistent position, and his offense suffered. The sox thought that if they moved him back where he was comfortable and put him at 3G everyday, then both his defense and his offensive talent would show back up. When we traded for him he was 1 year from FA sonic he did put up that .900 ops again he'd be really expensive, so the extension would have looked like a bargain. Note; this was not thinking I agreed with at the time. This is also why you dont write prospects in as allstars. So that justifies the extension? It's not the trade itself for me. Fields and Getz are both replacement level players. The extension is what boggles the human mind.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) KOnerko hasn't shown much power lately and Quentin is very inconsistent. Fair enough. By White Sox standards, there the only guys you can count on.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) Are you actually serious or are you just baiting? I can repeat the reasoning even if it's been clearly proven wrong, but if you're just complaining I won't bother. Yes, I'm being serious. Baiting? If I wanted to do that I don't need Mark Teahen. He's an awful baseball player. I can't stand him.
  9. Gordon looks like crap again. Outside of PK and CQ, there's nobody in this lineup that can be counted on consistently.
  10. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) he takes up viciedo's roster space very well WTF was KW thinking? I'm serious. Even bad players overall offer something. This guy is f***ing useless.
  11. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) im just saying maybe we should wait until he hits consistently for longer than 2 gms in a row before the "he's coming out of it" talk begins again like it has a couple other times this season Pretty sure rockin' was being semi-sarcastic. Not even he thinks Dunn is 'cured' after a couple at bats.
  12. Can somebody explain to me what Mark Teahen does well? I mean like one thing. That's all I ask.
  13. Is it me or has Alexei been skunks*** for the last two months?
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) - Bench Rios, platoon De Aza and Lillbridge - DL Dunn, call up Viciedo to play DH - Fire Walker - Trade Danks Trading Danks is basically surrendering. I was saying in the context of still trying to win this division. There's really no simple solution. And I for one am not excited one bit about De Aza. The only reason he's on anyone's radar is because Alex Rios has been one of the top 10 worst players in baseball.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Greg Hibbard says hi! Forgot about him. Then you have Heads. That's about it.
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Yep. If the solution wasn't so simple this would all be so much easier. It's not really simple, though. Dayan is only one man. And even he's slumping now.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Bucket, you've fallen off the deep end haven't you elrockin is pretty much the lone 'optimist' left.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) If Cleveland had same scoring opportunties as Sox tonight it would be 3-0 at least. Their lineup might be worse than ours.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Who knows if he is correct, but Cowley was saying today that Ozzie is keeping Dunn 4th as an F-U to Kenny for acquiring a slugging DH when KW knows Ozzie didn't want that. I seriously doubt that's the case.
  20. That was pretty predictable. 4 stranded through 2 innings.
