QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) Good for them. Yup. And they shouldn't budge from that initial asking price if any of this has credence.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) I must say, if you're going to start the 2nd half off in a way to make me excited, take it to the best pitcher in baseball and dominate the division leaders. This. And tonight means nothing if we lose tomorrow.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) Jon Heyman's twitter says the Sox and Braves are talking about Jackson and Lowe. That's a fireable offense.

The White Sox sign uber-talented DOUG DAVIS!!!

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) I love it when people overreact to a minor league deal signing. I think people are playing around for the most part. Nobody cares about this waste of a signing. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Proof beyond a reasonable doubt is the standard of evidence required to validate a criminal conviction in most adversarial legal systems (such as the United Kingdom and the United States). Generally the prosecution bears the burden of proof and is required to prove their version of events to this standard. This means that the proposition being presented by the prosecution must be proven to the extent that there could be no "reasonable doubt" in the mind of a "reasonable person" that the defendant is guilty. There can still be a doubt, but only to the extent that it would not affect a reasonable person's belief regarding whether or not the defendant is guilty. Even with everything we know, it has not been proven that she was guilty of KILLING her child BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. It needs to be at least a Dwight Howard Slam Dunk Contest "throw it in the basket" if it doesn't have to be an actual slam dunk. We really have no idea what actually happened to Caylee Anthony, though we can all guess what probably did happen. Is that beyond a reasonable doubt, though? I'm not sending her to the guillotine and having that possibility on my conscience. Ok, either I'm paranoid or I drank too much. I thought you were saying that she was guilty. I don't know if she is. But the case against her was s***. And I have no problem with her walking. At least on the first degree murder charge.

Sox versus Tigers Game Thread

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) Exactly. Under NO circumstances could I ever root against the Sox. Even when they're realistically and mathematically eliminated? Wouldn't you rather have a better draft pick as opposed to winning 79 games instead of 72? -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) I was agreeing with you, dude. Seriously, the entire world would not have cared if Casey Anthony weren't a hot white chick. lol. My fault. I thought you were being sarcastic.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Beyond a reasonable doubt actually does mean it has to be a slam dunk. We also have seen/heard more than the jury because our judicial system is silly. Um, no. It really doesn't have to be a slam dunk. I don't know where you get this from.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Well yeah, we'd have never heard of this case if it didn't involve a hot white chick. No doubt there. There you go again. I didn't say that. It's just my interpretation that the masses wouldn't be as outraged. I'm not the only one that believes this. I just say it. And I'd say it if a member of the media stuck a microphone in my face.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Being the holdout who causes a hung jury though isn't illegal...if he genuinely believed that the person was guilty and would not vote to acquit, then that's not illegal. Unless I missed something, other than 70% of the country believing Anthony is guilty, what is greg basing his belief on? I guess I could directly ask greg this. But this is my question for everyone. Remember, beyond a reasonable doubt. It doesn't have to be a slam dunk.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) Have you actually looked at his numbers for this year? He's actually hitting nearly .300 and his numbers, especially since May 1, have been stellar. Yeah, I see that average has climbed. But his power, not that he had much to begin with, has been sapped and he's so bad defensively that the average is practically meaningless. Maybe really bad was the wrong term. Give me Matt Wieters' .260 average and his ability to dominate the game defensively over AJ's punchless .300 and defensive liabilities.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Hasn't there been almost a complete turnover of that org aside from the GM since they last had commander chaos? I have no idea. I just believe nobody is taking AJ and the $6 million he's owed next year. Outside of a singles binge here and there, he's really bad now.

Sox versus Tigers Game Thread

QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) I actually want 3-9, but 6-6 is more likely just to keep the status quo intact for KW and Ozzie to keep the same corpse-mix on the field.... I'll cheer like crazy for this team for the next two weeks. If we're 6+ or more games out of it in two weeks, I'll actively root against them. I just hope KW doesn't say to himself, "hey, we've got two months to go and we're still just six games back, we're still in this thing." And trade Dayan for some overpaid, past his prime trash. -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Exactly. Wait, so Kuhn got demoted? lol. I never thought anything of him anyway. But that's kinda funny.
-
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) I'm not quite sure how we got from voting "guilty" as part of a 12-person jury to wanting to intact vigilante justice. If Greg was on the jury and truly believed she was guilty the very best he could have accomplished was a hung jury. Look, this was a case of a defenseless/innocent white child, yes, I said white because I don't believe the outrage would be the same if the girl had been black or mexican, and people need somebody to blame. Somebody has to be held accountable. If the mom didn't do it, who did? No, it had to he the mom. Why does it have to be the mom? It could've been me. It doesn't take a genius to murder and get away with it. Yes, it takes some work. But its doable. Greg is cool. But he doesn't know what he's talking about here. Pure emotion on his part.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) I have a problem with you calling me a nut and comparing me to somebody trying to kill somebody. If it was me, I'd go back and kill that post. But I'm not a mod. And you again conveniently fail to point out I feel there WAS ENOUGH EVIDENCE to convict on some charges. Why is that being a vigilante. Holding out? Why is that being a vigilante? I want justice. 2K5 is right. You can't send folks away for life or worse due to emotion. The physical evidence was severely lacking in this case. f*** popular opinion. The case was s*** and pretty much circumstantial. The dumbasses that are calling for her to be beheaded are lacking standard intelligence on how the legal system works and fell for the media propaganda.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) wonder if SF would be interested in Flowers....? Or would they dare take back AJ? No way to both. Especially the latter.
-
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Regardless of STL's situations, consensus top 10/15 prospects are traded once in a blue moon. SP prospects in the top 10ish are never traded. It's a pipe dream to get Miller or Martinez. Oh I know that. I was just pointing out that they're basically untouchable. Not that just the Sox couldn't touch them. I don't see the Sox making any moves, really. You can't go to show n tell without something to show.
-
QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Rasmus is basically Arron Rowand without the defense. Not sure why people want him so badly. 24 years old, dirt cheap, plays a premium position.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) I can't see Martinez or Miller going anywhere, and even if they were available, who would we have to acquire them? Yup. Miller is a consensus top-5 pitching prospect in baseball right now. Martinez is probably in the top-10. Carpenter is 36 and will be a FA after this season. Wainwright will be coming back from TJ. And Pujols is going to be making $25+ million dollars a year starting in '12. They're not parting with any of their premium cost-controlled talent. This includes Rasmus.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) "I don't have a problem with them, I just think they're f***ing gross, I don't want them near me, and I don't want to ever have one. I mean, I COULD live with one, I suppose, if I was forced too. But they better never talk to me or do things near me. Oh, and they can't be that really outgoing, flamboyant type. But yeah, I don't really have a problem with them. To each his own, you know?" Mock me all you want. I hate Ozzie Guillen. I hate Kenny Williams. I hate Lakers fans. I hate the Kardashian sisters. I hate people that mispronounce words on purpose. I hate reality TV. I hate people that are famous for nothing (I guess that's the same as hating Kardashian sisters). I hate republicans (nobody on this board, I can overlook that on here because I feel I know certain people from here and they're cool and I don't care, and I don't want to get banned). I'll get back to you later.

Francisco Rodriguez traded to Brewers
Jordan4life_2007 replied to SoxFan1's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 05:36 PM) Even though the Brewers system is weak, for that kind of money there has to be something of value on the PTBNL list. If there's nothing there and all he costs is $2 million then I'd wish the Sox would have grabbed him. This might be hard to believe. More like shocking. But the Brewers' system is worse than ours. And because it's too early to trade 2011 draft picks, there's nobody in their system of consequence that they could lose and it mean anything. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) There are others that are regulars. Then that's my fault. Like that dude said from Under Siege 2, "Assumption is the mother of all f*** ups." It was never a personal thing on my part.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) With the amount of people who post here, I'd have to imagine there are multiple posters who are gay. Yeah, but I was thinking out of the regulars. Not somebody like Jenksfart and his 10 posts since 2007.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) You're wrong. Really. OK. Well, whoever it is, sorry. It's really not personal.
