  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Lol, Juan can't even get the ball to 2nd before Mauer tags and moves in. I wish we had 25 Juan Pierre's.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) I picked up on a quote in an article today that KW is ready to make major changes in PLAYERS and maybe the win yesterday and if we win today that might simmer down. But, now we have more of the same ineptness by the offense. I am going to say we still have some game to play, but this looks pretty bad. Maybe this all-star break will see some changes KW talks a good game. Other than bringing up Dayan, which should've been done weeks ago, what the hell is he going to do? No tradeable assets in the system. You have maybe 5 players producing at an above league-average rate on the ML team. The rest either suck and/or are unmovable.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) I posted this in the Sox catch-all thread the other day, but Peavy said his arm feels fatigued right now. Ozzie really needs to be more cautious with him during the 2nd half of the year. Wow, the guy has made 8 starts and one relief appearance and he's already fatigued?
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) can you believe this team is going to go into the break either 3.5 or 4.5 out?? And that's no credit to them.
  5. Just say that outloud to yourself. One f***ing sixty on July 10th.
  6. White Sox offensive rankings in these four categories coming in to today (AL teams): Average: 9th Runs: 9th OBP: 10TH SLG%: 11th
  7. I think at this point it's safe to say Peavy is at least a semi bi-product of Petco Park.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) What pisses me off more than anything is that their piece of s*** hitters like Butera actually contribute. While ours don't do jack s***. This offense is in a steep decline. Might be the worst in the AL sans the punchless A's and Mariners.
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) If a loss means Ozzie might get fired (or whatever changes are being hinted at....) I would not be opposed to that. I was with you until we won yesterday. At this point I'll take 2 straight wins against this team going into the break.
  10. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) It was great to win but frankly my overall mood is still pretty negative. Just because we win one game you can't expect sunshine and lollipops. A little bit sure, but you have to wait till lots of things improve/change before all the negativity subsides. I hate the negativity too. That's why I'm staying out of game threads for now. Seems like it took a year to get to .500 and we went right backwards as soon as we got done with the NL. This team is going to have to blow right past .500 before the negative vibes dissolve. Our only saving grace is we're in a horses*** division.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) That is a huge misconception. Since 2004 Walker's first full year the White Sox offense based on runs scored in the AL ranked 3rd-2004 9th-2005 3rd-2006 14th-2007 5th-2008 12th-2009 7th-2010 11th-2011 The pitchers ERA were ranked 12th-2004 2nd-2005 10th-2006 12th-2007 6th-2008 2nd-2009 8th-2010 6th-2011 So in the 8 years 4 times the offense was ranked higher than the pitching and 4 times the pitching was ranked higher than the offense. You could blame USCF, but most Sox pitchers have pitched better at home than on the road, and KW spends more money per pitcher than per position player over the years. I think the argument is what young hitter or unproven hitter has come to the White Sox and flourished under Walker? Most aren't going to give Walker credit for Frank, Maggs, Lee, PK, Thome and Dye. Those guys were established long before they hooked up with Walker. I guess you can say CQ? Though he's been maddeningly inconsistent. Anderson? Fields? Getz? Beckham? Swisher? As where with Coop you can obviously point to Loaiza, Contreras, Thornton, Floyd and for the moment Humber.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) No, I'm sorry. I thought I said I almost got fired. I got reprimanded. Sorry. No, you're right. You did say nearly. I read too fast somtimes.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) Second guessing is fine. I despise it when we ... win. We won the game. His strategy worked. Many on this board want to crucify Ozzie for bunting in any inning. We won the game which means Ozzie has the last laugh on you Oz haters tonight. No, his strategy didn't work. Just as it hasn't worked for a while now. This might've been Ozzie's worst game yet. If LeBron goes 2 for 22 and the Heat win, they won in spite of him, not because of him. If Peyton Manning throws 4 interceptions (god I miss football) and the Colts win, they won in spite of him, not because of him. Ozzie was brutal today outside of the intentional walk call to I believe it was Cuddyer. Mark, CQ and Ramirez are why we won this game. Oh, and stupidity by Gardenhire for pitching to 'lexi instead of walking him to get to Omar.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) That's what message boards are for, Jordan. Can't act like that in real life. You got fired anyway, right? That's what I would've done. I probably would've taken 16 laxatives after eating 2-day old White Castle and went to work all throughout the building.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Scott Rolen added to All Star Game....huh? That's terrible. Anyway, Jose Bautista with another two HRs. I believe that's 98 HRs since mid-Sept of '09. f***ing amazing. Oh, and Mike Trout can fly.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) I don't see "obligated" as being a bad way to put it. Then I guess we just disagree. Josh can feel guilty, therefore in his mind he has to "make it up" to the kid even though he did absolutely nothing wrong. But I wouldn't look at Josh any differently if he simply bought the kid and his family some free tickets to a dozen games or so and that was it. Josh has his own family and his own life. He doesn't have to support a kid because a tragedy happened through no fault of his own.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) I'm saying if I was involved in the death of a young kids father, I'd feel like I owe him something. I have kids close to that age. I understand the connection there. If I was "responsible" for ending that, I would feel responsible, and I think anyone who has kids should feel that way. I think it would take a Casey Anthony type to not have that feeling if you had kids. I know I would feel that I am in debt to that kid for the rest of his life if I were Hamilton. If Hamilton doesn't reach out pretty heavily, I will absolutely think he is a heartless piece of s***. That's not hyperbole either, that is the honest truth. Feeling that way and people saying you're obligated are two totally different things. But I see where you're coming from. Hopefully you see my point as well.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) You have to say 'happy holidays' lest u 'offend' somebody. I see. Well next time that happens tell them to go f*** themselves.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) I understand your point, but our world is too far out there now to fix it. Look, Gordon can't be that f***ing stupid to think putting 'getz is gay' in the dirt isn't a very very bad idea. There's no turning back now. We are a politically correct society over the deep end. I nearly got fired for wishing somebody a merry christmas one year. Gordon must be a dumb box of rocks if he did that. I think I speak for the entire board (s***, universe) when I say what the hell is this?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) He doesn't "owe" him anything, but at the same time, you have to be a special kind of heartless bastard to feel that you don't owe the kid something. that is just common decency. So what? Is Josh supposed to send him a check every month? Put him through college? Land him a job in baseball? He tossed the damn ball into the stands. This occurs quite frequently. Happened to be a guy went for the ball without any regards to his personal safety and a tragedy occurred. Hey, I feel really bad for the kid. Don't get it twisted. But Q suggested that Josh is forever in debt to this kid because his father died. And anything less than that and he'll hate him? Are you serious? You don't see anything wrong with that?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) You can't even handle when people argue a point with you, and you are telling people that they are way to sensitive? Excuse me for a minute... :lolhitting :lolhitting I can't? This is news to me. I've never had a problem with anyone disagreeing with me. You can't have strong opinions such as mine and worry about trivial s*** like that. People around here are the ones that get upset with me. Not the other way around.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) The Blazers picked up an $8 million option on him just before the lockout started. I know that. I'm saying that he's probably another season-ending injury away from having to call it quits.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) I hear u but u can't do that publicly, just can't. It really does make me wonder bout Gordon's IQ. Um, OK? No, this is just getting stupid now. Kobe says f** in the heat of the moment and then, "OMG! Kobe insulted every f***ing gay person to walk the face of the earth! Off with his head!". LeBron says retarded when the stupid ass reporter asked a question that no doubt could be classified as retarded and, "Sweet Jesus! That bastard LeBron! Suspend him for a month!" And now this Gordon s***? Get some thicker skin you f***ing crybabies. Oh, and that wasn't aimed at anybody at this board. Just people in general. People are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY too sensitive these days.
