  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) Explain how things can improve, or why you don't think they will without insulting people. And I dare you to find a post in which I insulted another poster. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:04 PM) Based upon your responses, it is pretty evident your goal is to just be a loud obnoxious ass. And if thats the case, just be so somewhere else. You're right in that I should find another place to post. This place is turning into WSI. I want no part of this. You won't have to worry about me anymore. Have fun with ranger or whatever.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) Why must you continue to be condescending and snarky? It's posts like these that make people think you do it just to do it and that you want the attention. But I'm not. That's the thing. So I have to put more effort and emphasis on why I disagree with A Sox/Bulls/Bears move in comparison to another teams' move?
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) That right there is one way of doing it. Stating facts and being rational is a good start. Facts? Are you sure? You want me to post Pierre's, Rios', Dunn's, Beckham's, AJ's, Morel's Thorton's numbers vs their position peers? I've got some facts for you.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) There's a difference between: "The Bulls really didn't address their needs with their picks." "The players that I would have liked were better, imo." and "This is just s***! FIRE PAXSON AND GAR!" "The Bulls are going to suck because they have no f***ing clue!" It's all in how you say it. When a complaint become abuse, it ceases to be a complaint. So if I said every move the Cubs made was horses*** that would be OK? I mean, I know this isn't Cubstalk. But is it totally inconceivable that I can dislike what the Sox, Bulls or Bears are doing?
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) It just seems to me, in my humble opinion, that you post a certain way not necessarily because you honestly believe that, but because you enjoy the attention. You're an intelligent poster and a great addition to Soxtalk. But this recent trip you've been on has not been your finest moment. Again, just my humble opinion. How does one be negative without sounding, well, negative? I do have a negative view towards the Sox. 4 missed playoffs in 5 years and another season in which we're still below .500 justifies that. Now the thing I liked about this board was that you could post freely as long as you didn't cross that 'line'. If that's changing, just let it be known. That's all.
  6. Fair enough. It's not my board. You won't have to ban me. I just won't post here. Or at least not nearly as much. If I can't share my views and opinions the way I see fit without worrying about a suspension or ban then this board is no longer the place for me.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) You can already post on whatever message board you want. If the people who own this board decide that they want to run their board a certain way, that's their choice. Soxtalk isn't WSI but it's certainly no ESPN or Yahoo comment page. Who is "we", by the way? Well Jason just pretty much threatened any and all that is not nice that they will get suspended or banned. I'm not going to off myself over this board. I've posted here for years because I chose to. I obviously like the board. But I'm not going to adjust how I really feel about the TEAM or teams to please the mods or admins. Lay out the criteria. Don't just threaten to take action without being specific. Has anybody been attacking posters? Have we been too mean to Jake Peavy? I mean, what is it?
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) You have the uncanny ability to turn anything into an extreme or a negative. An extreme negative even. You also have the uncanny ability to make yourself look and sound like an absolute moron. And I'll say it again, I don't care what you think of me. I will say whatever the f***l I want to say when I want to say it. As long as I'm not attacking other posters, I should be game. But it looks like the criteria is changing.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) There's a pinned thread in PHT by ChiSoxFn that you might want to read. And I just responded. Like I said, I don't live for this board. Life goes on. I'll find another board that doesn't get analfied whenever we all don't go Hawk Harrelson. If this is going to turn into WSI then let us know now. Then we can make a choice.
  10. Wait a minute? What is this? Where is this coming from? It's the 'optimists' that are trying to impose their will on everybody? So I can't hate on Juan Pierre or Adam Dunn or Alex Rios or any of the other garbage on this roster outside of a select few? Tell me now and you won't have to ban me. I don't live for Soxtalk. I'll go to another board.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) First thing Butler said in his press conference is that he's going to put work in to guard Lebron and Wade so the Bulls could get championships. f*** ya, I'm on board. Yeah, I feel so much better now. If Craig Ehlo says, "I'm going to get bigger, stronger, etc, to defend Michael Jordan," I'm not going to feel better.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) I'm just saying what the advanced stats tell me. I'm not sure PER is the best way to compare a big man vs. a PG. And Bosh looked like utter s*** last year at times. Rose will probably never shoot 1 of 17 regardless of who he plays with. I understand win shares. But other metrics say Bosh was better. Where's the cutoff? This Bulls team didn't go from 41 wins to 62 because of Rose. I'm sorry. I don't buy that. Never have. He's not Jordan.
  13. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) 62 wins, a conference finals trip and an MVP> 40 wins and watching the playoffs from home. And in a team sport like basketball, this means nothing.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Bosh has never put up a season like Rose's MVP season. He's never gone far above 10 win shares in his entire career. Rose had 13.5 last year. What? This shocks me coming from you. Bosh in '10 was better than Rose in '11.
  15. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Good god, you rant like crazy. Bosh is not in any way shape or form better than Rose. It's a little easier to have a good series when you're being single-covered by a bad defender with two studs drawing all of the defensive attention than when you're getting trapped basically the whole game. Bosh's '10 > Rose's '11. That's all I can say.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) They do? Yes, Bosh as the lead dog is better than Rose. Rose is not as good playing with LeBron and Wade.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Did you say the same thing when we drafted Asik? Did I miss something? Asik is not that good. A decent backup? Yes. The Heat have three players better than Rose. We need to aim higher.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) I'm laughing hysterically at those who thought our 28th or 30th pick was going to put us over the top in any draft let alone this one. I didn't say that. But they clearly didn't take the best player available. A player that might be good in three years. Yawnnnnnnnn. This isn't baseball..
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) Hey look, another quality start for Hudson. 3.58 ERA. He may be looking at an all-star appearance. Doubtful. Thing I've always argued is that Hudson doesn't have to be great. If he could be slightly above league average at his salary, that's a win. Anything more is a bonus.
  20. Whatever. We could draft Jojo English and some fans would try to make a positive out of it. Ain't no way in hell Butler was a better prospect than Hamilton and Johnson. I don't have to get paid to know this. I look forward to losing to the Heat in 6 games next year (assuming there is a next year).
  21. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) The SG is coming through FA/trade, no doubt. There's absolutely no way they sit on the position. No way. No way to upgrade SG without downgrading somewhere else.
  22. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) I'm college basketball-stupid. Can Butler play the 2 at all? Not a chance.
  23. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) A rookie SG was not going to make a difference, especially one taken at 23 (or 28, whatever) in a weak draft. Brooks is nothing more than a rotational player. I didn't want Brooks. I wanted Hamilton or Johnson (yes, I know neither is a SG) but I believe you always go with BPA.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) They passed on Brooks and Hamilton. Hamilton is going to get flipped for Rudy Fernandez, who the Bulls coveted for years. And Johnson.
