  1. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) Aaron Miles and Jaime Carroll probably profiled like Kuhn is now, and they have turned out to be solid major league players who help teams win ball games. Who's to say our guy Kuhn doesn't have that kind of potential. Plus, he hits. I like the Miles comp.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) Attendance has been s***ty in both parks as it is and this has been going on since 1997, I think it's losing a bit of its luster overall Not to mention both teams being under .500. Other than '08, the teams have never been good the same year.
  3. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:43 AM) They're now TIED in the loss column and all the twinkies need is 1 "WIN" to be ahead of us. All I'm saying is they are our biggest concern in the division... Which is a good thing to me. It would've been too easy for the organization to look at a second place finish in which the Indians won the division and dismiss it as a 'fluke.' "Well, they got lucky and had career years from everyone," etc, etc, etc. Another beatdown by the Twins would most certainly not be a fluke. And would effectively force the organization to 'surrender' and go in a different direction. Beat the Twins or else is the way I look at it.
  4. The Lakers would never do that. They've refused to part with Bynum for guys like KG and Melo. Isn't Bynum, like, 22 or 23? He's one of the few 'true' centers left in the game.
  5. Huge fan of the Diamondbacks' alternate home/road jerseys.
  6. QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) It has no legs. I don't believe it has legs, feet, arms, elbows or even testicles.
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) Im hoping the Bulls draft Josh Selby and JuJuan Johnson(sp), I think those are about the best talent you can ask for that late in the draft. In the 2nd I'd be happy with DeAndre Liggins. JR Smith would be a pretty solid signing as well, not what most of us want but I think if he doesn't overshoot and whatnot would thrive here. I'd be ecstatic if we got JJ.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) It's obvious Rios is one of the biggest busts in recent Sox history and I highly doubt he'll turn things around. fathom will hate me for this. But the summer of '09 set this franchise back at least 5 years.
  9. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) I don't take a players contract into if I like the guy or not. Unless he happens to be on the White Sox and is named Alex Rios or Mark Teahen. Or Adam Dunn or Jake Peavy or Juan Pierre or A.J. (next year).
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) The unluckiest is Zack Greinke. His ERA is 3 runs higher than his FIP. Yeah, I didn't do any actual research on this. More tongue in cheek than anything. I just saw his peripherals and thought, "damn, he's been unlucky."
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) Ozzie pre-game quote from Daryl Van Schouwen of the Sun-Times' twitter OMG. WTF? Ozzie has this unique ability to make a lifelong Sox fan (myself) cheer against this team at times. The only thing that will rid us of this toxic germ is more failure.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) I hesitated to respond to this post, but what the heck. My response is you don't trade Paul Konerko. If we think of trading people think of what other teams might need to help themselves compete the rest of this season: A thirdbaseman maybe = Mark Teahan who is fielding well but not playing eough to get back on track with the glove An outfielder maybe = Juan Pierre, who seems to be slumping and taking the wrath of Sox fans and is holding up Dayan Viciedo. A DH/IB/OF with a big contract like Adam Dunn, who just hasn't peformed at all. But Dunn has so much upside and later this season adn for sure in 2012 could be the big boper again. All we could hope for is some team takig hius salary and thinking he will benefit from a change of scenery Pitching: A starter maybe? Edwin Jackson possibly A relief pitcher? Maybe Tony Pena or Matt Thornton? Not advocating any trade here, but you don't trade away your best player and give up when you are just 5 1/2 back All I have to say is...w.h.a.t t.h.e h.e.l.l. i.s. t.h.i.s?
  13. Matt Garza has been probably the unluckiest pitcher in baseball. His peripherals are sick. I expect him to K at least 10 tonight.
  14. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) But that outfield defense of Lee, Everett, and Ordonez was horrible especially with having Everett play center field. None the less I think the Sox scored more runs, gave up less, higher BA, lower ERA than Minnesota, but still ended up losing the division to them. I also want to say they had a cupcake interleague schedule and I was beyond mad about that lol. '94, '03 and '06 are the biggest fails during my White Sox fandom. I cherish 2005. But it makes me mad when I think about all the other times we had a chance to do something special and choked on a fat one.
  15. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) I really am a pretty big Carlos Zambrano fan to be honest. The guy is hilarious. I was actually a huge fan until he started making $17-19 million a year. Dude gets paid like Roy Halladay.
  16. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:26 AM) from Iguodala's Rotoworld page yesterday: "Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld writes that a deal appears inevitable at this point, and the Clippers (offering Chris Kaman) may be the current front-runner. " Thanks, dude. There goes one of Quinarvy's dreams. I would've loved to somehow net AI2. He's like the Franklin Gutierrez of the NBA. So gifted defensively that anything he contributes offensively is a bonus. That would've been our LeBron 'stopper.'
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:15 AM) $5 million this year (Dodgers are responsible for $3.5), $3 million in 2010 (Dodgers paid $7.5 million). This gets back to the "investment of resources" argument. We're already paying $3.5 million of Linebrink's $5.5 million contract....plus Teahen, plus Viciedo. Being stubborn over $2.75 million when we spent a lot more than that on a washed-up Manny Ramirez....not sure what to say anymore about the "spin" coming out of White Sox Land. In reality, this has nothing to do with money anymore. It's about Ozzie's will versus Kenny's, and who will blink first. Will KW give in and trade Viciedo or hold him back to build around with Ozzie out the door? While they're at it, they might as well just send Beckham down to the minors to play everyday and let Lillibridge, Vizquel, Teahen and Morel share at-bats. Not that they'll ever get anything back for Teahen now, but hey, might as well use him if they're stuck paying him millions. Wow. I thought it was $3 million. I can't imagine any team in the league having more salary vs production disasters as the White Sox do right now. Pierre, Rios, Teahen, Peavy, Dunn and AJ is making $6 million next year? Horrific.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:00 AM) I hate this cat-and-mouse game he is playing. Either way, it's still on Kenny no matter what he says. He is the GM, he controls the roster. If it is his decision to let the manager decide, then it's still on KW if the team doesn't perform. He controls the roster, but does he control who plays? Otherwise, what's the point of the manager? Ozzie needs to go. That would solve all.
  19. What is Ozzie b****ing about now? He's locked up through next year. He's failed miserably in a division that should've been ours 80% of the time since he's been here. Highest Payroll in team history and we're, what, 5 games below .500 going into July? It's a good thing I don't work for the media. I would so goad him into saying something that would get his ass fired immediately. Our media sucks here. They never ask good questions.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) What about A.Cabrera? He definitely is the Web Gem champ. I just think Ramirez and Escobar have been the best overall.
  21. Anybody hear about a pending trade of AI2 going to the Clippers? I heard it on the radio. Can't find anything online. I don't know what the Clippers would be giving up. But it obviously won't be Griffin or Gordon. I'm sure Jordan wouldn't be involved. Add AI2 to those three and you have some freakish athleticism and overall skill.
  22. Dunn has been the biggest FA bust of the season to this point. I never saw this coming. So disappointing. Let's pray that this is just one of those years for him and not some inexplicable decline that came out of nowhere during one offseason. Because we are stuck with him for quite some time.
  23. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:50 AM) Juan Pierre is making $5 million from the White Sox this year, of course on the MLB team. Dayan Viciedo is making $2.25 million from the White Sox this year, in AAA. Why aren't the Sox worried about getting a return on their investment on Viciedo? Paying someone over $2 million to play in triple A is equal, if not worse than letting Pierre rot in Left Field. Even if the two were mutually exclusive, we'd have reason to question the organization on both events. I'm confused. Are the Sox paying JP $3 or $5 million?
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) Hey, I was minding my own business when you mentioned for the second or third time in a thread that I insulted you in a PM. I'm just making it clear to everyone, despite your inferences, that I didn't write some kind of racial slur to you or something. Who said anything about racial? SS2K5 said you were right in that I make everything about me. That's hippos***. I don't even have 20, 000 post yet and I've been posting here since '03.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) No, that would mean you don't understand the term "underachiever." I deleted that post for a reason. As I didn't word it right. I'll get back to you in a minute. Nehphew is calling.
