  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 14, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) Who wins; PG - Stockton SG - Jordan SF - Pippen PF - Malone C - Hakeem PG - Rose SG - Wade SF - LeBron PF - Amare C - Howard 5 v 5 streetball 50-50 to me. I'm sure the majority of the board will take the team that has Jordan. Which is ironic, considering my user name. Edit: Lmao@Stockton guarding Rose. My goodness that would be suicide. I just thought about it.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 14, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Bautista just went deep, twins about to lose again. So we aren't in last!! woot! All that fool does is go deep. My apologies got out to Mr. Bautista. I thought he was a fluke.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ May 14, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) Great start for Griffith. 0.1 inning 3 hits 7 runs 3 walks 1 k 1 wp White Sox prospects: They're fantastic!
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) Why on earth are you claiming to be some freaking streetball expert and ask me that question? He didn't play in the post much in the NBA because they have 7 foot centers there. In a 2 on 2 game, a weak or even average defender is going to get eaten alive in the post by a bigger player, especially a player talented enough on offense to be a HoF NBA player. Have you never watched competitve 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 tournaments? The Shoot the Bull? Scottie would back Wade down and score on dunks and easy shots. And if LeBron tried to help, you're leaving the best player in the world open. I just don't see LeBron and Wade being able to shut Jordan and Pippen down nearly as much as Jordan and Pippen would shut them down. Penny was a better post player than Pippen. Even in a 2 on 2 he's not humiliating Wade in the post. He didn't have the footwork, strength or body control to bully Wade down-low. You're attributing this to Pippen being 2-3 inches taller. And I have seen competitive 2-2, 3 vs 3. White Men Can't Jump style. Which is exactly why I laugh when people act like it'd be no contest.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) I said 75% of the time, yes. If they put Scottie down low in the post, with Wade defending him, tell me how often he's going to stop him? Since when was Scottie a great post player?
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) You should probably give up sports then and take up knitting. You can continue to get smart. I meant with this team. I've been sick of KW/Ozzie for over a year now.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) I wasn't conceding the point, I was making fun of your lame reply. I'm sure if we asked someone that was around those practices, there would be some pretty good stories about the battles they had in practice. You admit Scottie was the best defensive SF in the game. How do you suppose he got that way? Umm...guarding Michael in practice every day? This is pure speculation about two players from different eras so I'm not sure what the hell you are asking me to produce video for. We'll never know the truth. But in two on two basketball, with one having the best two defenders on the court, and the best one-on-one player of all time, I'll take them to win the vast majority of the time. Sure, LeBron is a physical freak, but he doesn't have a complete game yet and Wade is not going to shut down Scottie defensively, especially in the post. Sure, all 4 are 4 of the best players to ever pick up a basketball, so I am sure Wade and LeBron would catch fire a few games and win, but I don't think that would happen enough to offset the defense played by Jordan and Pippen and the mismatches on offense. What is vast majority? 80% of the time? That's homer goggles to me. It'd be epic. We're not talking MJ/Pippen vs Joe Johnson and Josh Smith.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) Yeah, and the fact that you were 12 and didn't want to tell them all they really weren't good at playing baseball the entire day. I knew my baseball at an early age. I've just evolved since then. This team sucks. I'm not even expecting some mammoth run in which they get back to, whoa, .500. Only to s*** their pants for the 9th time in 11 seasons (would've been 10 times had we not won a coinflip). I want something different. This s*** just doesn't work.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) It's fun to watch Konerko at bat, I do like watching Humber pitch and of course, Peavy too now. But yeah, there's a lot better baseball being played on the planet. I miss the 90's. Those teams had guys that you just wanted to stop and watch hit or pitch. Thomas, Ventura, Jackson, Raines, McDowell. Albert Belle for the two seasons he was here.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:22 PM) Hah! Ok. My point is invalid while I go in search of the lost practice videos. And a charity game? Who plays hard in a charity game? I'm not saying MJ couldn't school Pippen either. Jordan was the best player to ever play the game IMO. Then why bring it up? I'm sure B.J. Armstrong guarded MJ in practice plenty. Not comparing Armstrong and Pippen. But LeBron would present challenges in a playground 2 on 2 that even Jordan couldn't. Remember. No help D or doubleteams. No coaching strategy. No refs. Just pure street ball.
  11. Blah. No point of even commenting on Pierre and Pena anymore. This has been one boring ass game. I really don't enjoy watching this team. I do because they're my favorite team. But there's like 10 other teams I enjoy watching more than them.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Dude, you don't think Scottie guarded MJ in practice all the time? Scottie defended the best player ever in his prime, in 1 on 1 games. You're crazy if you think he hasn't seen ANYTHING like LeBron. I just think Scottie would frustrate LeBron enough, MJ would battle Wade pretty well, and then LeBron would have to turn around and play defense on MJ. Meanwhile Jordan would let Pippen post Wade when MJ wanted to catch his breath. I have no idea about your Howard/Duncan scenario, but I have seen enough 1-1 and 2-2 to know that the guy with the goofy arsenal of 10-15 footers that he hits consistently usually annoys the hell out of the stronger physical player. Well until your produce some video of Pippen shutting down Jordan in practice your point is invalid. There is a video of MJ and Pip going at it in a charity game hosted by Pippen in '94. And MJ raped him.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) I have no idea. Howard would own Duncan on the inside, but Duncan would score with his lame arsenal of weird big man shots from away from the rim. This could be just me, but I think Howard destroys Duncan in a 1 on 1. The athleticism and strength would be too much. Does that mean Howard is a better player overall? Hell no. People are looking at this as Jordan/Pippen won 6 rings, how could LeBron Wade compete? It's not about that in playground 2 on 2. Scottie is probably the best SF defender ever. But he's never seen ANYTHING like LeBron. Dude is like 260 with the athleticism of young Jordan. The best SG MJ saw during his era was prime Clyde Drexler. Wade is better, IMO. It'd be a hell of a matchup.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 14, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Running on the field is beyond stupid, and if you are entertained and cheer people doing that, you're right there with them. Then I'll be stupid. He didn't hurt anybody. I'd be LMAO if that happened in a game I attended.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) I'm not really sure what you're saying here, but no, I do not think they would split. Now if you want to put Shaq in his prime with LeBron, yeah MJ and Pippen would have some major problems. But I just think Pippen and MJ would shut down LeBron and Wade far more than the other way around. I'd say Jordan and Pippen win about 75% of the time. Let me ask you this: Dwight Howard vs prime Tim Duncan 1 on 1 in a random gym?
  16. Wait a minute? We didn't score? I left for about 20 minutes.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 14, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) That's actually what I expect. And you are right about the consistency part. Saw it in '01, '03, '04 (did we struggle early in '04? I think we did), '09 and last year.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Pena's gonna have to go like 4 innings today. So Gavin's got nothing? I'm following on gameday.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) It's entirely possible that this Bulls team is a better team than the Heat saw in the regular season as well. No argument from me. I've thrown the regular season out the window. Everything starts Sunday for me.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 14, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) I have never seen this Bulls team fail me over any extended periods of time this year. I don't expect them to stop now. My mind does say the Heat are better and more talented, but they were also in that position the 3 times the Bulls beat them this regular season. Bulls in 7. I have no problem with your prediction. But as far as the regular season goes, LeBron missed the first game. Bosh's 1/18 was a total aberration in the second game. And the last game in March could've gone either way, as Deng won it with two FTs off a questionable foul off a FT miss. The Celtics were 3-1 against the Heat in the regular season. That should pretty much eliminate regular season records.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 14, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) I'll go simulate it 100 times on NBA 2k11 Burn the game if LeBron/Wade win even once.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) They have a different bounce in their step right now. I think it got so bad that they said the hell with it, let's have some fun and see what happens. And now we are seeing the results of the talent taking over. Getting the bullpen settled into their roles is starting to produce results, and the bats are starting to heat up a bit. I'd be surprised to not see a sustained run of .550-600 baseball over the next few months. It has nothing to do with "bounce in their step." They're simply playing better baseball. And it's not surprising. This isn't a 65-70 win team. Consistency, save 2005, has always been the major issue during the Ozzie/KW era. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this team get back to .500 only to revert back to their earlier struggles.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Pippen would stick LeBron pretty well. Pippen was one of the better defensive non-centers of all-time. I think Jordan being the best player on the court, and both Bulls players being better defenders than either of those two (although I realize LeBron is a very good defender) would allow MJ and Pipp to win most of the time. LeBron would slow down MJ a bit because of his size, but no one was stopping MJ in his prime. Would make for some awesome 2 on 2 games though. 2 on 2 playground hoops is totally different from organized 5 on 5. To suggest that LeBron and Wade could take Jordan and Pippen is not saying that they're the better duo overall. If they played each other 100 times, is it so appalling to think they'd split? Maybe 55-45 in favor of MJ/Pip?
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) It's even in a column picking the Bulls over the Heat. I think the Heat's lack of depth is overblown. You're not going to be 9-10 deep when you're rostering LeBron, Wade and Bosh. If we had signed Bosh and LeBron last year, we don't have Korver, Brewer, Wastson, Deng, etc. The only player outside of the big three for the Heat that I can say offers absolutely nothing with confidence is Juwan Howard. He's just a waste of a roster spot. All of their 'scrubs' bring something to the table. James Jones and Eddie House are their snipers. Chalmers can defend and hit the occasional three when left open (which is often). Bibby is shooting nearly 46% from three and is more than capable of hitting clutch shots. Z is a big body that can defend/rebound (relative to keeping his minutes in check) and can hit the 15-17 foot J. Dampier is another big body that can defend/rebound in spurts. Joel Anthony is long, athletic and has been playing pretty good defense of late. Mike Miller's wrist has clearly been bothering him all year. There's just no way he got this bad over the offseason. And then Haslem is basically a wildcard for them. I think if the Bulls go into this series thinking it's 12 vs 3 they're going to get burned. But I'm 100% certain TT is in no ways dismissing the Heat's 'scrubs.'
  25. Are people really getting all up in arms over a worthless 2 on 2 debate? I'm sure if LeBron/Wade played prime Jordan/Pippen that they'd win plenty of times. Just as Jordan/Pippen would win plenty of times. Nothing to get excited about here.
