I've never seen a system so devoid of starting pitching prospects in my life.
-
lmao. That dude is a hero.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:02 AM) As of this moment, you don't trade him for a goddamn thing. Oh, and not wanting to count on Peavy? How about not wanting to count on Phil Humber...you know, the dude who is 28 and has never had any sort of sustained success at the major league level? He's proven he can be adequate, but you are talking about replacing a guy who is almost an ace with a guy who is probably a 4.50 ERA type guy at his best. That is absolutely absurd. As of right now, the Sox have, optimistically, anywhere from a 25-50% chance of winning the division. If they trade Danks, that drops to 5-10%. You mean Humber's .213 BABIP is unsustainable? You've got a lot of nerve! His current rate stats are totally flukish and his below average 5.18 K/9 doesn't do anything to mask that. Smoke and mirrors for the most part. As the weather heats up and he starts seeing better offenses, reality will set in. Not that he possibly couldn't be serviceable all year. But trading guys because we have Humber? lol.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 14, 2011 -> 01:18 AM) That's exactly what I'm saying. If the Bulls win it, he becomes what LeBron has been for the past 5 years. Even with the hype, I can't recall anybody really arguing LeBron was in the same class of Michael, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Russell, Kareem and a few others at the age of 22-23.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 14, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) If the Sox don't win the division, I really hope the Indians or Royals take it just so that people will have to see and admit that it is possible. I'd want either to win just because that means the Twins and Tigers, two teams I despise, won't. And anybody could admit the Royals somehow winning it would be the best story in sports.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 14, 2011 -> 02:43 AM) After the Swisher and Javy trades I have no trust KW will get anything decent in return for Danks, I'd rather opt for the draft picks after 2012 This is totally fair. After the last few years, KW will have to win multiple trades before he can be trusted in that capacity again. But I'd rather take my chances with that than to rely on this organization and draft picks.

Please god no more nicknames.

QUOTE (soxfan420 @ May 13, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) Let's drop him while we can get something in return for him since, what do you think we can get back in return? Multiple blue-chip prospects. Or at least KW shouldn't settle for anything less. That said, he's not going anywhere at the moment. And I think it's nuts to act as if this rotation is legitimately six deep. Humber has been a great story so far. But would you really feel confident in trading any starter, let alone your best starter in Danks, because Humber has pitched well for a month? And then Peavy will be a start-by-start risk for the rest of his career.

QUOTE (Cali @ May 13, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) The Indians are doing this with smoke & mirrors and a s*** ton of good look. But, that doesnt mean they can't keep it up all season. That kind of luck can happen all season and get you to October. They're 15-4 at home. Only 9-9 on the road. The White Sox have more road wins then Cleveland. You'd like to HOPE that kind of disparity catches up to them. Also, side note, so much for Liriano's No-No sparking the Twins comeback this season. Currently lost 6 in a row. The pitching is probably overachieving. But they're scary to me in the fact that Choo and Santana have been awful and they're still winning. Just a matter of time before those two get going.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 13, 2011 -> 11:31 PM) Getting my mind off the Bulls for 2 seconds(not really but whatever), that Memphis-OKC series has been a ton of fun, happy it's going 7. Both these teams are so fun to watch. And just think of Memphis with a healthy Gay? These are the two best teams in the west going into next year, IMO.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 13, 2011 -> 11:14 PM) I don't think fully expecting the opponent to win makes you less of a fan. I think the Bulls will win this series if they play good defense and get guys other than Rose going like we saw last night. I think they'll do the job on defense, but I just don't trust the supporting cast enough offensively. This. One of Boozer/Deng (both would be ideal) is going to have to have a great series. Rose will get his. But as I said before, he will not be the unquestioned best player on the floor in this one. There's two guys that will cancel his production out. And our bench will have to thoroughly outplay theirs.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 13, 2011 -> 09:57 PM) Derrick Rose winning the MVP at 22 and the NBA Championship in the same year is infinitely more electrifying than beating the Heat. Honestly, if he pulls it off we find ourselves with a guy who can start entering "the" conversation. Key is: Bulls gotta get it done first. Define "the"? Please don't tell me one of the all-time greats.

ESPN showed an interesting stat that I had never heard of. "ISO" offense and defense. Basically breaks down how many points a team scores and prevents in isolation-only situations (i.e. 1 on 1). The Heat were first in both ISO scoring and ISO fg percentage. The Bulls were first in ISO scoring defense and ISO defensive fg percentage. Not surprising. Pretty cool stat.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 12, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Wow. I fully expected Bulls vs. Heat but now that it's a reality I am very excited/nervous. I never thought in a million years this team would be this good. Just beat the Heat. I could take losing in the finals. Just beat the f***ing Heat.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 12, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Horrible offense to close out the 2nd. Atlanta's still in the game, unfortunately. This Hawks team is terrible. The true definition of playground basketball. The Bulls will win this one.
-
Who was it that brought up Beltran earlier? He hit 3 HRs today.
-
This game is already over. lol@Joe Johnson. He's a $10 million dollar a player that's going to be making $20+ million soon. Heat/Bulls is going to be uber fun. And I'll say this much, I know I can be rough or whatever at times. But this Bulls team has totally earned my respect. If you told me back in July that the Bulls would be the only thing standing in the way of the Heat and the finals, I would've laughed at you.

Bulls lookin' great so far. Boozer looks fresh.

JP is so bad that he's brought Kalapse out of hiding. How pathetic is it that this guy is going to get 4-5 at bats every game for the rest of the season unless he gets hurt?
-
QUOTE (Knackattack @ May 12, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Lol he has literally been the worst player in baseball and is leading off for us. Awesome. His wOBA of .266 is the 5th worst in all of baseball among batters with at least 150 plate appearances. That's pretty putrid. wOBA, as I'm sure you know, ignores defense and focuses only on what an offensive player can control, much like FIP for pitchers. So even when people say the defense is a fluke, he's not contributing in any other aspect. He's a waste of a roster spot. Seems like a solid guy. Hard worker. But he's not good as at baseball. And something has to be f***ing done about it.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 12, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) He turned that double into a triple not just with his weak arm but by playing the long carom off the wall rather than going to the corner and getting it, when you have no arm and maybe the fastest player in the bigs running the bases you can't wait for the ball to come to you 20+ feet down the left field wall, you need to go get it, that's just bad defense. The first hit off Peavy was also due to poor defense from Pierre, he got an awful jump on the ball allowing it to fall in front of him. The dropped flyball off the bat of Hunter was pretty brutal. Instead of trusting the track he slowed up to feel for the wall when he was still well out of range forcing himself to leave his feet on a ball that was not just behind him but a few feet to his left giving himself little chance of making the play. I believe it was game 2 that he jogged to a ball hit softly in front of him toward the line, a single for most outfielders he turned it into a double by underestimating Kendrick's aggressiveness and lacking an adequate throwing arm. Last year baserunners didn't take full advantage of Pierre's weak arm, the opposite is true this season, they're taking that extra base and the added pressure of having to get to the ball and get it in as quickly as possible is only going to lead to more miscues. It's super early so sample sizes are small but he's more than earned his -34.3 UZR/150 for the season (4th worst OF in baseball, ahead of a 39 year old, a converted catcher playing in one of the biggest outfields in baseball and Nate McLouth), -2.6 ARM (worst in baseball) and -1.1 WAR (worst in baseball). lol. Like you said, it's still early as s***. But that doesn't even look right. JP is fun/entertaining bad right now.
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 12, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Sucks almost as much as Pierre, soooo why do you want him? Nothing says improvement like a .585 OPS.
-
Poor Kendry Morales. He's about to lose basically a second season to one of the more fluke injuries in recent memory.
-
Looking forward to the game tonight. I expect dominance. Oh, let's get this out of the way right now. If the Bulls lose, it will be because of the refs (semi-joking).

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 12, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) I know, Jeter was never the best at anything at any particular point in his career, but Kobe was the league's best scorer for a good half decade. You were dead-on from a defensive point of view. Kobe hasn't been All Defensive first team caliber since about 2003.
