Wow, Milledge is terrible defensively. -
Looks like the Angels have the Craig Kimbrel of the AL in this Jordan Walden. I knew I should've scooped his ass up in fantasy earlier. Like Rodney's sorry ass was going to last.

Adam Dunn had emergency appendectomy last night.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 10:43 AM) It's just that everything seems to have gone downhill since they went up 14-0 in the first game. I went into the season really expecting something special (for a huge change), now I'm back to thinking this is just going to be another disappointing year. Are you trying to replace me as Soxtalk's prince of darkness? My title that I won fair and square will not be so easily attainable. But damn, I'm not even trippin' after four games. lol. At least wait a month or so. If we're mediocre to bad, I will unleash my fury like this killer baboon did in this movie I watched last night: -

Well doesn't this suck penguin nuts. Had no idea about this until logging in just now. Hopefully it's no more than a week or so. The offense will be just fine as long as Becks/CQ keep producing. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) what was our record last year in 1-run games? 28-21. God I love Baseball Reference. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) Looks like young phenom Michael Pineda will be the Mariners #5 starter after a filthy spring. I love it. Screw those dumbass Super-2 rules. Though I understand them. And Alexi Ogando will take Tommy Hunter's place in the rotation while he's on the DL. Neither disappointed last night. I watched the highlights and both were popping FBs at 94-96 with good-looking secondary pitches. I long for the day that we can cash-in on Latin American talent.

Just got back from the game. s***ty finish. But a win is a win. We can finish Boston off as far as HC goes Thursday. And the Lakers lost by one to the Jazz. So it looks as if will have HC for as long as we're playing. And yes, I obviously don't expect the Spurs to get to the finals.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) While I think its still early to b**** about this team, this game should've been our. With that said this team has holes. Out of what seemed could be our best bullpen yet, we have Thornton, Santos, Crain, not sure what in Sale, not so good Humber, and Scott Lineb..Ohman and mediocre Pena Not sure why you thought that. We have exactly one sure thing in the bullpen and that's Thornton. And he's in a new role now. I'm not saying the potential is not there to be good or at least above average. But the 'pen really isn't any better on paper than last year. I would've rather gone 3 years with somebody like Scott Downs, a guy that's more proven than Crain, that has the ability to get both RH and LH hitters out. And maybe sign a guy like Jose Contreras instead of the filth that is Ohman. The years and money would've been pretty similar. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:51 AM) Then you might want to avoid all games pitched by the guy in your avy, not gonna see many HRs when he's on the mound Balta made a good point. If It's a matchup of elite pitchers that's one thing. It's the low scoring games with #3/#4/#5 starters that I don't care for.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) If Tony Pena and Will Ohman pitch in many meaningful games this year we are screwed. Ohman flat sucks. I never expected much from him. But it is disappointing that Coop has not had a drop of success with Pena. Seemed like he was the type of pitcher that would flourish here. I know Brandon Allen hasn't done much yet (due to Arizona's inept front office and personnel decisions), but I really want that trade back. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) Pretty impressed seeing some of the talent KC is bringing up. Crow and Jeffress look like the real deal. J4L probably enjoyed seeing them pitch tonight. I was at the Bulls game so I missed this one. But I mentioned in the "I'm worried about the KC series" thread that the Royals had a chance to have a pretty electric 'Pen this year. -
Not a great feeling about the KC series...

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Didn't they start off to an awesome start in the first 20 or so games a couple years ago when Greinke was spitting hotfire? It started off the same way- "they'll come back to earth" but they kept playing well. Well, like everyone suspected, s*** came crashing down on them eventually. That eventuality will be realized today. Please never use that term ever again. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 03:12 AM) I disagree. I love watching the pitchers duels. I tune out during slugfests and offensive explosion. I also prefer 14-10 football games with a great defensive battles. No problem with that at all. Offense is my personal preference. Of course, I'd like the White Sox to win every game 10-0. But if I'm watching another game strictly for entertainment purposes with no emotional investment to whoever wins or loses, I'd rather see 15-18 runs with about 6 HRs sprinkled in over a 2-1 pitchers' duel.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) Wouldn't he be on pace for 162? Or did he have a multi-HR game in there? I just threw a random hyperbolic number out there.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Found out today that we're getting a generous refund from the IRS, so I'll go ahead and throw the $120 down on MLB.TV. I like the option of being able to watch games archived from earlier in the day. If you're a true baseball fan, trust me, it's worth it. I've got the extra innings package. I get bored with only the White Sox at times. I'm a baseball fan well before I'm a White Sox fan.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) It's fun when you get to root for Mariano Rivera. I can root for him regardless. At least during the regular season. He's by far the best to ever play the game at what he does. I can respect that, no matter what uniform he wears (long as it's not a Cubs uniform).
-
College basketball can be like alcohol at times. Your best friend and your worst enemy. This first half of play has been really insulting.
-
Elvis Andrus homered. /thread Nelson Cruz has also homered for the 4th consecutive game. He's on pace for about 356. I love the offensive explosions we've seen so far. Pitchers' duels are boring as s***.

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) Bruce Chen is going to start games for the Royals. Alex Gordon hits in the 3-hole. Chris Getz and Alicdes Escobar are going to get 300 ABs each. Jeff f***ing Francoeur is playing RF. Kansas City is going to be in a dogfight for last place. All you really had to say was Jeff Francouer and Jason Kendall. And just think, if not for the Greinke trade, Yuniesky Betancourt would still be starting. That would be arguably the three worst every day players in baseball on the same team. KC better hope their farm is good as, well, the entire baseball world thinks it is. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) Melo's definitely overrated. Not all that efficient at scoring, mediocre defender at best. Yet, guys like Skip Bayless almost put him right next to LeBron. Really? I haven't checked the numbers. But I assumed he was well above average (or at least above average) from an efficiency standpoint. Problem is he's a black hole that doesn't make anybody around him better, and he's borderline Toni Kukoc defensively when he's got 10 times the physical talent/skills of Kukoc.
