  1. Just thought it'd be a good idea to get goin' ASAP. It took forever to get the baseball leagues full. I can't even remember what leagues I was in last year. Just wanted to put it out there that I'm ready for multiple leagues and will commish a couple if needed.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) And in that game, Bautista hit his 36th. Jesus, what a season. That's like 48 HRs in his last 142 games or so (going back to last year).
  3. I would've been more than satisfied with league average production, or even a little below average, from Freddy coming into this year. He's nowhere near what he once was. There's a reason he's makin' a million bucks.
  4. I've soured on KW considerably the last couple years, as I don't think his overall philosophy of building teams will ever be conducive to year in and year out success. Yeah, compared to other GMs of White Sox past, he looks like a genius. But take '05 away, and I know this is virtually impossible, there's just not much to get loud about. And it looks even less impressive when you consider we're not in the AL east, where we have to deal with mega giants every year. But even I will admit that Kenny has done a fabulous job, not so much recently, but during a 4 year stretch from I'd say '04 to '08 in plucking talent from other organizations. Now only if we could ever draft and develop our own.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) Is he the best catcher in the NL, at least offensively? If not yet he very well could be by next year. And how about Carlos Santana? He could be the best catcher in the AL very soon. .274/.432/.988 with an OPS+ of 172 in 139 PAs. His 1.50 BB/K rate is uncanny for such a young hitter. I've said it all year, I've never seen an infusion of talent as deep as what we've seen in '10 hit the game practically all at once in my time as a baseball fan. I was speaking of Posey here. How's this for a slash line? .385/7/32/.444/.630/1.074. That's all Posey's done since July 1. This dude is so special.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) If by candidate you mean "everyone who's a notch under Miguel Cabrera" then yes. I've long conceded Miggy as the AL MVP. I'm just saying PK should get some votes or whatever.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) Oh wait, "these two" meant Ozzie and KW. I thought you meant Jones and another past their prime player. No, I meant Ozzie and Kenny.
  8. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) Really? I'm unhappy with oz and kw, but jones has been well worth 500 k I agree (at least defensively). But it was counted on for him to be more than that. Remember all those "he's in the best shape of his life" articles popping up on whitesox.com? I knew that was bulls***. Now he had a fluke April. Good for him. But he's been TERRIBLE since then. And it's not surprising at all.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) "These two" with the other being Vizquel? I don't get it?
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) of 2008 It's what we do. We're perpetually taking on these reclamation projects or former great players that are multiple years past their prime hoping they can find that fountain of youth. That's why I want Ozzie and KW gone. Will never win consistently with these two and nobody can convince me otherwise.
  11. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) jones is struggling. He's been "struggling" since April. He's just not that good at baseball anymore.
  12. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) If Andrew goes yard here, we'll likely win Nope. Because then Ozzie would call on Bobby to finish the deal.
  13. Just got back after PK's HR. He really is a legitimate MVP candidate.
  14. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Orioles have talent. Overall they're unimpressive, but it's fair to point out the monster talent they face within the division year in year out. I agree with this. And the O's did sweep a 4 game series with the Rangers. But I'm afraid the true talent of this team is on the verge of rising to the surface. There's just too many holes on offense to expect the pitching to be able to carry us to the end.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) Where's that "Let's give Greg Walker credit" thread? I blame Ozzie and KW. I really don't know what to make of this team. Outside of that ridiculous 26-5 stretch, this team really blows. But I can't just ignore that stretch either.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) This team is being crippled by poor in-game management and the mistakes of our front office. At what point did KW decide that not getting a bat at the deadline was an option? If i'm him i don't get off the damn phone until someone, anyone, can be brought in to fix the mess that Ozzie and Kenny created. It's not even the deadline for me. To make a trade it obviously takes two to tango. And with our pathetic minor league system, I'm not surprised KW couldn't pull a deal off. It goes back to the offseason (yes, Kyle/shack, I know. It's crying over spilled milk. But I'm not done crying yet).
  17. I don't care that we're tied for first. KW/Ozzie=fail for this season and every other season save 2005.
  18. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) Badge, you are one of the last posters here I want gone (especially to one of the original guys). But at the same time, I'm not gonna beg you. Just do what you want to do. That said, we need those posters on this site that add solid arguments. As much as people rip Greg, I think he is actually a poster who keeps arguments/discussion (usually not smart, but 'discussion' nonetheless) key. Agreed. Now Wite? Ship his ass outta here.
  19. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) It's not. There were 6 in 1990. Also 5 in '91. So the most no-nos in a season in almost 20 years. If this continues for the next couple of years, then it's dead. Until then, I don't see how it is. Well it's dead to me. At least for a while. Do you think people really care now when a guy takes a no-hitter into the 7th inning?
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) I didn't see it discussed anywhere, but how about the Rays almost getting no-hit again?? Although they are 3rd in MLB in runs scored, they are only tied for 25th with a .250 team BA. I still can't believe the Mariners traded away Morrow for a reliever. He was a high 1st round draft pick, always showed flashes of his potential, but they kept dicking him around between the rotation, the minors, and the bullpen. They really didn't give him the best opportunity to succeed, now hes 5th in the AL in strikeouts. The no-hitter is officially dead. That's probably why nobody mentioned it when it looked like he was going to pull it off. But wow! I just saw the highlights. That was pure dominance. Scherzer's 14 K game in 5 2/3 innings against the A's, Strasburg's first game against the Pirates and Morrow's gem yesterday are pretty much the 3 best single-game pitching performances in baseball this year.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) I have both teams going 29-21 the final 50 games, so as far as I'm concerned they're playing for the division tonight. LMAO. Man, I just spit up some fruit punch. Well played, flavum.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) did you give yourself cheat days? I do and it helps me tremendously, although I was/am doing pretty high intensity work outs 5 days a week, sometimes x2 a day, so wasn't doing it strictly on diet. I know people who a cheat day works for and other people flat out can't handle them, one day turns into a week Actually, for about the first 8 months, I had no cheat days at all. And even now I don't have cheat days (i.e. eat everything in site for that day). It's cheat 'meals' for me. I give myself 2, no more than 3 meals, a week that I allow myself to eat whatever I want. Just the other day I had a Gyro/Fries combo with a piece of Apple pie for dessert for dinner. But for breakfast I had a small bowl of raisin bran, a banana, one hard boiled egg and a slice of whole grain toast. For lunch I had a protein shake with 8 celery sticks and carrots (4 each). So I try to keep my calorie intake real low leading up to my cheat meal, which is usually always dinner. And you're right. One meal or one day can definitely turn into a week or even longer. It's a constant battle that lasts for eternity. Fortunately, I've been able to keep the weight I lost (67 pounds) off for about a year now. But it's a war that never ends.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 02:04 AM) Would you trade Danks for Votto straight up? I think I would, considering his contract (or lackthereof) Bye, bye, Mr. Danks. There's about 3 or 4 players in the NL I'd take over Votto right now. He's THAT good.
  24. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) The same Joe Nathan that blew 6 saves in 2008 and 5 saves in 2009. . You've done it now. Wait until Kalapse gets a peep at this.
  25. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Can someone remind me what Kotsay WAR is right now? Yaknow, that useless stat which is routinely proven to be bulls***. It's not useless. And you don't really need a stat to figure out that Mark Kotsay is not really good at baseball.
