  1. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 09:40 PM) Same report says Boston offered 3 firsts (not Brooklyn or the LA/Kings pick), Crowder and another starter on draft night. That seems way better. Heard something on the radio about Indiana not wanting to make Boston better? Not sure what the hell that's about. Hopefully it's bulls***. Anyway, how many roster spots are on the all-star teams again? Steph, Klay, Draymond, KD, Kawhi, Westbrook, George, Butler, Lillard, CJ, Nurkic, Jokic, Harden, Paul, Blake, Davis, Cousins, Conley, Gobert, Hayward (if he stays), Wiggins, KAT, Booker, Gasol (Marc). I think that's it. I realize some of the aforementioned have never made an all-star team but don't tell me they're not all capable. I think the snubs from this group could take the top guys from the east. You've got LeBron, Kyrie, Wall and Giannis. Which is sick. But after that? Damn. Let's hope Bucks/Sixers really take a step forward next year.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) They made the conference finals once and the semifinals twice, and either DNQ or lost in the first round of the playoffs ever other year since 1999. Why if the Bulls do that, they are turrible, but the Rockets GM is underrated? I acknowledged they haven't won since 1995. But it's not from lack of incompetence or creativity. They've acquired superstars over the years without having to be in the lottery. The Bulls have acquired guys like Ben Wallace and Carlos Boozer.
  3. The Rockets are one of the most underrated franchises in sports and Daryl Morey is one of the most underrated GMs in sports. Yeah, they haven't won it since '95 but man they are not afraid of making a splash and somehow always get guys you don't think they can. Whether it's Charles Barkley to team with Hakeem and Drexler, T-mac in his prime, James Harden for nothing and now an elite PG for role players and a draft pick.
  4. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) How fun would it be if the Bulls got their hands on Michael Porter Jr and signed Boogie/Embiid/Kanter next year? PG- Dunn (Hope he develops) SG- Lavine SF- Porter PF- Markkanen C- Cousins/Embiid/Kanter Kanter? He makes Boozer look competent on defense. Also, and this is just my preference, I'd rather have one of Bamba/Ayton over Porter. At least for now. A lot can change between now and next draft, of course.
  5. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) The Cavs won 17 games in 2002-2003. That's textbook tank. They were rewarded with the second greatest player in NBA history. And the Spurs in '97. Being really, really bad is sometimes the best way to get really, really good.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) See the edited post I made (above yours) which shows a history of top 5 picks (excluding #1 overall picks...so picks 2-5). The list is pretty damn depressing. This view that being awful for long is some great path to success is a bit delusional (not saying you have that view). Some could say the same thing about my view....I guess the difference is...I don't think that the only way to build a contender is via tanking. In fact, I can't really think of an example who has proven tanking works. Maybe Sixers will eventually pull it off. Warriors didn't tank to get where they did...they struck gold in a series of drafts though (and than on top of that had Durant land in their lap). That said, neither Curry / Klay were top 5 picks and Draymond wasn't even a 1st rounder. They weren't outright tanking. But the Sonics/Thunder were pretty damn awful the years that led to them drafting Durant/Westbrook/Harden.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) Seemingly ALL Boston fans are laughing at the deal in that tweet. I just dont get how fans are so out of touch with reality. What the hell do you think it would take to get a guy like Porznigis? You are laughing at the thought of trading a Brown or Crowder? GTFOH then. That 2018 Nets pick would be the hold up in my opinion. The top of the draft next year (top 4 picks) looks silly good.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) I don't understand why Boston doesn't offer up all their assets for Anthony Davis. That is what I'd be trying to do if I were Ainge. Pelicans ain't trading Anthony Davis, dude.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) Youth alone doesn't work. I could see where Sixers might have been interested. But they weren't interested. They're doing it the way they have been and when it's time to make a big move they will. Now is not close to that time.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) I can believe it. Not sure why the sixers would want to trade for Jimmy with where they are as a franchise right now. Agreed. You trade for Butler when you're on the cusp of something. Now the Celtics on the other hand? Can't wait for the draft.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) He's really good, but it is weird how bad Washington was with a #1 draft pick. Way worse than Simmons LSU team, though LSU did have more talent. His nba comp is westbrook. I know, I know. Nuts until he proves himself. The Sixers obviously believe in this kid. We shall see. I've given up on Embiid ever staying healthy. Simmons, Saric and Fultz could be deadly good 3 years from now.
  12. Damn, so the trade actually happened. Don't know much about Fultz outside of draft express highlights.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Yeah, I'll be honest, I do. I can appreciate watching someone like Kyrie, dominating more with skill and heart and effort than someone who is able to dominate partially as a result of sheer size. And J4L, you spend half your life trying to discredit a guy for which you named yourself on this message board. Talk about rent f***ing free. Discredit? I have no recollection of this ever taking place. MJ is the GOAT. Because he dominated his era moreso than any other player dominated their era. But i'm almost 34 now. Not 15 or 21. I can be objective as where I couldn't 15-20 years ago. Back then, the game began and ended with mj. Wheaties, gatorade, hanes, air jordan shoes, etc, etc. That was my life. Well wheaties tastes like s*** but whatever. The game has evolved. Players have evolved. Everything about the game is just better than it was during jordan's era. And it will be better 20 years from now than it is today. If that's me discrediting mj then so be it.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) Yeah, that is why I qualified it as was still LeBron...it's difficult for me sometimes to give credit to him as a lot of his production comes from him being just so physically freakish. He gets by a lot on brute strength and size. The officials allow him to just charge into the lane and clear out with his off hand to get to the basket. Don't get me wrong - dude is a crazy gifted athlete and a great basketball mind, but in terms of his effort last night, he wasn't getting back on defense, he was letting smaller guys get rebounds he should have had, he was yelling at others like Kevin Love for not getting back in transition, he refused to go hard to the basket when he was fed the ball in the post in the second half when they needed him, etc. And as Boogua said, finally when the game was out of reach, with about 3 minutes remaining, THEN he decides to take the ball to the basket. THEN he decides to take over for his team. It was a bit of a curious effort from him. You must've really had a hard time giving Shaq his credit during his prime. Anyway, LeBron definitely has a permanent residence inside your head - rent free.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:21 PM) It's funny cause KD still a b**** tho True. But he's a top 3 talent ever. That skill-set with his size? Not fair.
  16. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) I don't know if a 34-35 year old Michael in place of Lebron would have beat this Warriors team, but all I know is Michael would have guarded Durant in the 4th and taken the last shot. A 28-year old Michael Jordan would have no chance because this Warriors team is unprecedented. Two MVPs in their prime, the second greatest shooter in league history and one of the best all-around players in the league who is set to win DPOY. Again, they're all in their 20's. And MJ vs KD would be a joke. A 6'6 SG vs a damn near 7'0 forward? MJ would have no chance.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:26 AM) I'm not complaining about one play. I don't mind, in a vacuum, that he passes to Korver there who is open for a three he often hits. I'm complaining that the Cavs, in particular, did this repeatedly in the second half, to the point where LeBron was almost giving away uncontested shots from 5 feet in favor of three pointers, which they continuously missed. At some point you take the easy bucket and/or free throws because of the percentages and the experience you're seeing in this particular game. Both Jackson and Van Gundy commented on this repeatedly. So it's not just about the play to Korver. This occurred 5+ times. As for LeBron, look, the guy is a spectacular player. And I'm not looking to start the discussion of who is the better player, LeBron or Mike. But folks, Mike wouldn't have lost that game. He simply wouldn't have allowed it to happen. Down in crunch time, up 6, down 2-0 in the series, he's not passing the f***ing ball from the lane to a role player. He's f***ing taking Steph f***ing Curry to the rack and finishing or getting fouled to salt away that game. That was the difference between Jordan in his prime and any other player. He simply wasn't going to let you win. Michael was 1-9 without Scottie his first three years and lost to the same Detroit team 3 years on a row until they got old in '91. You telling me throughout that entire 6-year period MJ never made a questionable basketball play? GMAB. MJ is so f***ing lucky he came up when he came up.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 04:25 AM) Oakley, Paxson, Gene Banks, Corzine, Cureton....those were the five leading scorers after MJ on the 85-1986 team. The next year, Oakley, Sam Vincent, Corzine, Sellers, Paxson. Ho Grant and Pippen both averaged 8 per game in their rookie campaigns. How are these remotely comparable to anything LBJ had to work with in Miami and Cleveland (2nd time around)? Not to mention MJ's baseball career messed up two additional title runs. And James has had an extra three years of playing in his prime. Not to mention the baseball foray again. Arguably 2-3 more titles had he come out even earlier and not played for the Barons. Michael Jeffrey Jordan (Mike, Air Jordan, M.J., His Airness, Money, Black Cat, G.O.A.T., Superman) I know what MJ had around him in '86 and '87. That was not the point. Those were the two best teams he saw from a talent perspective during his career and he couldn't win a game. I didn't bring up any 90's team he beat because it's absolutely laughable to compare any team from the 90's outside of Chicago of course to this Warriors team. Not sure how MJ retiring to play baseball, suspended for gambling, etc, supports him against LeBron in this case
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) I wouldn't hedge. I think Cleveland is dead after losing that. I don't think LeBron was going for a triple double, he's just not single-minded enough. He could have taken the ball to the basket all night and he just got fatigued. I don't ever want to hear anyone compare him to Michael again. GMAFB. If you think MJ > LeBron I've got no problem with that. I don't think anybody does. But nothing about this series says " See, look. I told you MJ was better than LeBron." The only comparable team Michael saw his entire career that sniffs this Warriors team is the Celtics of '86 and '87 and he went 0-6 against them. LeBron was up against it from the start of the year and he knew it. He's been sensational this series (one play doesn't detract from that). Don't get me wrong. Do I feel sorry for LeBron? No. He started this superstar leave your original team in your prime for greener pastures. KD just went to the team that beat him. And for that he'll always be a beta b****. But no one man in nba history could take LeBron's place and beat this Warriors team. Nobody.
  20. No team in nba history could beat this Warriors team. LeBron about to lose his 5th finals and 3 of them weren't his fault at all.
  21. Like I've said before, if LeBron slays this monster 2011 is erased and he's at no worse Co-Goat. That said, Warriors in 6.
  22. We did it! We did it! Rebuild haters stay out. We just added an elite talent without giving up anything but paper to go along with the best position prospect in baseball and a trove of high quality to elite pitching prospects. AND WE'S NOT DONE!!! WHAT A TIME!
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 19, 2017 -> 08:23 PM) Worst NBA season ever. Other than Westbrook looking for the triple double average not a single interesting thing all year and those are the least competitive playoffs ever. No rebuttal from me. Between the eastern conference (owners, gms, players, etc) being just incompetent to KD being a trick p**** beta has put the nba in a world of hurt from a competitive standpoint.
  24. Celtics and Sixers with the W. Ainge is vindicated for not making a deal at the deadline. He has all the power now. And if the Sixers draft Jackson? Embiid, Simmons, Saric, Jackson, Covington. That is a fricken core. I left out Okafor because he sucks.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) Really too bad Leonard got injured last night. The Spurs were absolutely destroying Golden State when he went down. If he isn't himself the rest of the series the Warriors will have had one of the easiest runs to the finals imaginable. Zaza getting death threats. No Leonard or a compromised Leonard sucks ass. But don't get it twisted. Nobody is beating GS four times. Healthy or otherwise.
