  1. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 12:54 AM) I've been saying all season that Avi will be a perennial all star the rest of his career and a future HOF inductee (maybe first ballot). If our rebuild is to be successful, we must sign him to a long term contract (unfortunately, the organization has probably cost itself 50-75 million by waiting til this point)
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) Bulls Blew the Jimmy Butler Trade, and They'll Pay the Price for Years Following the eurobasketball17 tourney, (sick talent all around btw) I've sorta fallen in love with Lauri Markkanen. His skillset is legit. Obviously the speed and physicality of the nba compared to other leagues is otherworldly. So he's going to have to adapt. But he's a legit prospect in my opinion. If Lavine comes back strong and builds off of the season he was having before his acl tear, I kinda like what we've got here. Dunn turning into even a solid rotation piece would be almost a bonus. I'm gonna be as positive as I can this upcoming year. We are going to blow so much ass. But the top of that "18 class, good god, it's gonna be worth it.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) Richard Justiceā€Verified account @richardjustice 5m5 minutes ago Finally... @Indians have trailed for four of 189 innings during win streak. I think that might be more impressive than the streak itself. Like LH mentioned earlier, there's been no fluke/luck involved here. They're demolishing teams.
  4. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) The Indians are going to win again, bringing the streak to 19. They have favorable pitching matchups the next two days, including Kluber tomorrow, so they could very well tie the MLB record of 21, set by the Cubs in 1935. The 1916 Giants won 26 in a row, but there was a tie in the middle of that. What year was it the A's won 20 in a row? I'm thinking 2002. I'm rooting for the Indians to break the record. That would, for me, be more impressive than the Heat's 27-game streak in '13. Mostly due to the randomness and unpredictability that is the game of baseball.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) LOL. All I know is I now find out he hit TWO home runs today and has 31 and 90 RBIs. I am AMAZED at the lack of praise on here about Jose. You aren't gonna be thrilled if Eloy has a 31 homer season with 90 ribbies on Sept. 10 some season?? And I watched Fulmer's highlights today. Lot of scorn on this board for Fulmer who had nasty stuff. My eyes can tell me that. Man I'm glad I'm not a stat geek. My eyes tell me Jose is special and I wouldn't count Fulmer out yet. He had some pop today and breaking stuff too. The world would be nicer if fans were all like el Rockin. Drives me crazy the lack of respect for Jose this season on this board. No it wouldn't.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) Oh so feisty. All I did was correct your erroneous statement that the Sox aren't supposed to beat Bum. They had a good shot at hitting him. Fulmer of course was the wild card. Even if the Sox hit Bum it's not like Fulmer couldn't have also been lit up.. I never predicted a Sox win, just that they would do well against Bum. I also see nothing wrong with beating my own chest. When people are wrong around here everyone lets them know it . When you are correct no one remembers . Yeah, that's true. I'm really not mad here. No sense going any further over something so trivial. I want the Sox to lose EVERY GAME this month. That's just me. I will admit I haven't even looked at what Bumgarner has been doing recently and even if I knew he had been struggling or not pitching up to his extremely high standards I would still expect the Giants to win. They didn't. Oh well.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) Come on, this is lame and you know it No, him beating his chest like he's some kind of baseball savant is what's lame. Nobody is impressed because "on the second post I said they would light him up" hahaha look at me. One game out of a billion of them. WTF cares? I make predictions all the time. Some right, ALOT wrong. I can admit that. Really easy to do when you have nothing to lose either way.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) Um yes the Sox are supposed to wax Bungarner. 1)He had come off an injury lately and hasn't been pitching well. 2) The Sox hit lefties well. Follow baseball and the Sox and you know they had a shot. That's why in the 2nd post of the game thread I said the Sox will light him up. Next time put some money on it.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) White out for season? Twitter says yes I almost want to laugh. But that's mean. Another 1st round pick, another bust. Time to move on.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) What exactly could the Sox have done more as an org to lose this game aside from asking players to throw it? I'm not mad at the players per se. You're right. I don't want them to go out there and not try. It's just that this team is 30 games below for a reason. They're not supposed to wax Bumgarner. But that's baseball. I get it. Still sucks.
  11. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) This team can't do anything right. We can't even lose the right games? Always get out tanked by the smarter teams. Not a chance Fulmer is anywhere near this good. Yup. So frustrating. It's nice to see some of the kids do well. But GMAFB. This game had loss written all over it.
  12. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) Meh, i actually don't think Moncada flopping would be disastrous. It would suck, but the rebuild is more than just one player. The guy we traded him for is going to win the CY and finish in the top 3-4 in MVP voting. Yes, this rebuild is more than just one guy. But we absolutely need Moncada to succeed to get to where we eventually want to get to.
  13. OP is a virgin. Next year is the time where you can truly evaluate Moncada. We haven't had him long enough yet.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2017 -> 12:50 AM) You don't think he's worthy of that?? That's peanuts today. That's Melky money. Are you saying 5/75 is way too much? You would go for 5/50? 5/60? He's not worth 10-15 mill a year in today's economy? Is that based only on the advanced stats? No, I don't think he's worthy of that. You just don't recklessly hand out a 5-year extension to a 26-year old that's having his first productive full season after multiple years of below average replacement level production because it's "not our money." At least that's not how smart organizations run their operations.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2017 -> 12:25 AM) I don't know why you guys worry about spending Jerry's money so much. He'll be fine. Offer Avi 5 year extension at 75 million. If 15 mill a year isn't good enough, then let him walk when he's a free agent. But other than that, why not? He and Abreu will be nice pieces when we are good and NEED some true White Sox vets on the team!! You know .... you can let some guys walk. The Royals are doing it this year, letting Cain, Moose, Hosmer, Escobar, at least 3 of 'em walk. No sin in keeping Avi and seeing what happens during his FA year. If he won't take 14 or 15 mill a year for 5 year extension. Jerry must love you guys who hate spending his money.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) Not gonna lie I missed almost all of this game but wow what a line for Giolito. When your wins include a gem from your future frontline starter and 3 hits from your young SS, that's a good day. Yeah, I want to lose every game the rest of the season - but I can't be mad at a win like this. These are the only type of wins I can tolerate. The rest make me sick.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Billy McKinney just turned 23 two days ago and has been destroying AAA. I wouldn't really hold him not being in the majors yet against him. Who the hell cares what McKinney does? Addison Russell was the prize in that trade and he helped them win a 'chip. This not aimed at you, mags.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) Obviously a lot of time between now and the 2018 draft, but it sorta sucks that it appears the top 3 talents are all pitchers (Singer, McClanahan and Mize). We need a generational offensive talent with this pick. Makes me a little less concerned about getting the #1 pick (top 3 is nearly inevitable). I'd rather see some serious progress from the young guys on the roster lead to a few more wins. Wrong. Winning 5 or so more games in a lost season does nothing. If the consensus BPA is a pitcher when our pick comes up then so be it. You could always potentially trade for said offensive talent if you draft correctly.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) Crazy how ATL has had a top 5 system for what seems like half a decade, CWS system is sure to regress with all those graduating within the next year (Moncada, Jimenez, Kopech, Giolito, Hansen, Fulmer, Gillaspie, Adams, Cordell, Stephens, Tilson, Guerrero, Bummer). CWS need to hit on the upcoming Draft and have to hope a few guys breakout while the others develop I predict CWS opens up 2018 with their top 10 as Jimenez (AA), Kopech (AAA), Robert (A), Rutherford (A), Cease (A+), Hansen (AAA), Collins (AA), Dunning (AA), Fulmer (AAA), and Burger (A+) with Moncada and Giolito graduating CWS likely opens up 2019 with their top 5 as Robert (AA/AAA), CWS 2018 first rounder, Rutherford (AA), Cease (AAA), and CWS 2018 second rounder/Burger (AA) Hopefully, CWS puts together a winning season in 2019 for the first time in ages and makes playoffs in 2020 when the perennial powerhouse begins They been churnin' them out since last century.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) It's everyone's record after 122--except the Sox. Ahhhh. ok.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 06:32 PM) Draft order with 40 games left for everyone-- 1. Phi 45-77 2. Sox 47-74 (game 122 tomorrow) 3. SF 48-74 4. Cin 51-71 5. Oak 53-69 6. Det 53-69 7. SD 54-68 8. NYM 54-68 9. Atl 55-67 10. Pit 58-64 11. Tor 59-63 12. TB 60-62 13. Mia 60-62 14. Bal 60-62 Yeah, you need to update the records. They're all off after the Sox just about.
  22. QUOTE (Soha @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 06:22 PM) I really hope you're right. But I just don't see this as a lock like many of you do. This team keeps fighting. And they had a few games recently that they should have won but didn't. They're playing way better than you'd expect from a bottom feeder. And now the schedule gets cupcake easy for most of the rest of the way. Bro, they're 6-12 this month. They suck. Only thing standing in between them and Turang/Singer are the Phillies.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Hahn is lucky he didn't get fired after last season Not his fault, imo. Sox were still in stupid go for it mode.
  24. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) If nobody wants him you can't force people to give u an asset. My post was based on him not going anywhere because nobody wants him. He can help a young staff next year Then that's different. Yeah, if nobody wants to give up anything then fine.
  25. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) I would not mind if we resigned him. He is a good back-of-the-rotation veteran who appears to be good in the clubhouse. And he would be cheap. No thanks. He's 33. We need to collect as many youthful assets as possible.
