  1. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) The off season starts with Hahn trading Avi Garcia and Abreu for more prospects. This will be done in the name of a rebuild. I see it as more of a salary dump to get this team to have the lowest payroll in MLB. All this translates into more profits for JR. This leaves the team with the following lineup: 1B=Gillaspie, 2B=Moncada, SS=Anderson, 3B=Davidson, LF=L. Garcia, CF=Engle, RF=Delmonico, C=Smith. Starting Rotation Rodon, Shields, Lopez and Holland. (Hahn resigns Holland thinking that he'll have a rebound year) Bullpen= The same group who are in our present bullpen. After Rodon gets off to a good start Hahn will sign him to a contract extension. After the All Star break Hahn will then trade Rodon to the Cubs for more of their prospects. Nobody ever talks about this but Hahn is a life long Cubs fan. He never attended a White Sox game in his life until he started working for them. And finally for a job well done (Last place team with the lowest payroll=enormous profits) JR will reward Hahn with another contract extension, #meltdown
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Chris Sale, a perennial Cy Young candidate with the best contract in all of baseball netted 2 "can't miss" prospects. But he only impacts 1 out of every 5 games.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) Ah yeah I remember that. Didn't he hit a grandslam and a 3-run homer? Yes, sir.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) What happened in this game again? Sox were down 9-1 in the 7th and then Iguchi went HAM.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) Simple semantics, no need for you to freak out. I should have put "since" instead of it. My bad. My bad if you just simply used the wrong word. I got the impression you were under some illusion that the White Sox might actually try to compete next year.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) They tied this game after going down 9-0. Astros/Sox from '06 popped into my head immediately.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 12:43 PM) I know. That's why I said throwaway year. What do u think throwaway year means? Why can't a guy like Kemp lead off for a year? He intrigues me. Lot of pop and minor league production for a little guy. You said "if" next year is a throw away year. There's no if involved here whatsoever.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) Great post, Lamar. We need to see more of your posts IMO. I have been intrigued by that Kemp guy. We should make sure he's the player to be named. Throw in Miguel to make sure it's Kemp. If next year is another throwaway year I wouldn't mind seeing that Kemp guy lead off. You just get denser every year. THE SOX WILL SUCK NEXT YEAR!!! GET OVER IT!
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 05:27 PM) I just don't think there's any real argument to targeting specific positions, ESPECIALLY at this point. Given the attrition rate of prospectys, and how early we are in this process, there's no way to tell which positions we will need when it's time to be competitive. If we ever do somehow find ourselves with too many of one thing and not enough of another, that's when you trade from surplus. The answer MUST be BPA every time. Didn't realize this was an old post. Point still remains.
  10. Some of you goons just don't know what a rebuild is. They'll spend on FA when they're ready to win. That's definitely not next year and might not be 2019, though the latter year is where you expect to see some legitimate improvements.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 06:00 PM) Bears claimed former Bucs kicker Roberto Aguayo off waivers. Really nice move. He was awesome in college and is only 23. These are shots worth taking. Isn't that the guy the Bucs foolishly traded up to draft in the 2nd round last year? I knew he was bad (fantasy team) but that's really surprising they cut him after one year. Like you said, though, good move by the Bears.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) I often forget that success and competing is only relative to the division. So if Kopech and Eloy blaze through the minors next year, the Sox will probably be better than KC, Detroilet & Minnesota. The Indians bullpen will probably fall apart in a year or two because that's what bullpens do, so I could see 2019 being super exciting but maybe the Sox come up a bit short. 2020 probably begins at least 5 years of dominance in the division. Can't wait!
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) https://www.theringer.com/2017/8/11/1611709...r-deandre-ayton Yup. Good year for the Bulls to be awful And good god they will be awful.
  14. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) I am afraid he could turn into a poor man's Draymond Green. Bell and Patrick McCaw could potentially make the Warriors more unfair than they already are and send j4l into nba hybernation for the next three years.
  15. I know, I know. Summer league. But Jayson Tatum looks to be one of the more advanced rookies I've seen in a while who wasn't a big man.
  16. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) Lol it's probably sarcasm. I saw 2 of them talking about it. BTW Lyles is no longer on the Jazz. He fell out of grace with them towards the end of the year. Exum apparently has been wanting a better chance to showcase his skills, now he has the chance. Thanks. Didn't know he got traded to Denver.
  17. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) I think it's a huge setback for Utah. Keep in mind they only won 2 less games than Boston did in the regular season in a much more difficult conference. They actually won the same amount of games as Cleveland did, but Cleveland rested players obviously. I'm a Jazz fan so I'm probably biased but I thought if Hayward resigned, they'd be about 3 years away from being elite in the West. Probably just a biased expectation. But man so many fans feel betrayed, I feel a sense of emptiness I guess but I was thinking he'd go to Boston anyway after he was snubbed from an all NBA team. Had he made All NBA 3rd team even, Utah would've been able to offer him a lot more money. Some fans were even blaming Joseph Smith and Brigham Young for not being Catholic becauseapparently Hayward's wife in a devout catholic. Whatever the case, it's always going to be hard for Utah to ever become elite with the free agency trend we're in now. San Antonio, another small market team did accomplish it so there's always a chance I suppose. Please tell me this is just utah fans being delusional and emotional?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) Shouldn't it be a good thing for Utah? They clearly had no pathway to the NBA finals...so they should just tank anyway? No? I'm being semi-serious here but it seems like that statement would apply for Utah. In fact, shouldn't we ask the question why Utah didn't move him a year ago to maximize his value since they clearly had zero path to the finals? Hayward -26 Gobert - 24 Hood - 24 Lyles - 21 Exum -21 That's a pretty nice young core. A lot of their future potential depends on Lyles and Exum. But like I said, losing Heyward is a big setback. Far as tanking, they're probably a 38-42 win team even without Hayward. Quin Snyder looks to be a really nice coach. So they couldn't tank if they wanted to. Sucks to see the Jazz take such a hit considering Boston probably still can't see Cleveland anyway.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) Heyward to Boston. 4 years, 128 million. Oh, and the player Thibs and company drafted with the Bulls pick (Patton) having surgery on his foot. Out indefinitely. Good move, Boston. Big setback for Utah. They were trending upward. Now they're basically a treadmill team.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 01:24 AM) 2011 Bulls? I thought the Pacers of 2014 the first 50 games or so were a legitimate title contender. Then they went full you know what.
  21. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Instead of Celtics signing Hayward and trading for Butler or George, those two went West instead. You're telling me that didn't just make Lebron's path to the Finals easier? No, I don't think it will be any easier than it's been the last few years. Just have to hope that certain teams improve, I guess. People keep talking about how stacked the west is. Guess what? Nobody is beating Golden State, either. Cleveland/GS part 4 is pretty much a lock.
  22. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) There's a significant drop in talent after the Cavs, Celtics, Raptors, Wizards, and maybe the Bucks. We will see who suits up for the Sixers first. Outside of Celtics, literally no one is trying to get better in the East. And even though they tried, Celtics still have a long way to go from really challenging the Cavs. So you can mark down Lebron in the Finals again in 2018. And the talent disparity for the two conferences is insane. If you list the top 10 players in the league, you have Lebron and maybe Giannis from the East, then who else? West >> East No argument there. I just keep hearing that all these east guys going to the west makes it even easier for LeBron. The Pacers/Bulls/Hawks even with George, Teague, Butler and Milsap had no chance of beating Cleveland. We'll see what happens with Hayward. Word is he could make his decision later tonight.
  23. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) With Millsap and Teague moving West, that makes it 4 current/former all stars moving West, and 0 coming back East. The East is seriously terrible. The Bulls will have a tough time competing with the tankers next year. To be fair, the top 4 east teams from last year are still the top 4 east teams going into next year. The Hawks, Bulls and Pacers were middling playoff teams even before they lost their guys. If the Bucks and especially the Sixers show improvement the conference won't be any worse than last year.
  24. QUOTE (turnin' two @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) Hmmm..... http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/scherma01.shtml Yeah, I should've said the AL, I guess.
  25. Kid gonna have some pressure on him. Chris Sale has been EASILY the best pitcher in baseball.
