  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 10:21 PM) Yes, his name is Buster Posey. I would've went with Pedro Alvarez. I still believe he'll be the best player from that draft. The power he's already dispalying in the minors is downright criminal.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) Yes but is there a guarantee we still could''nt have gotten Beckham? How do we know the team ahead of us a slot or two would have taken him? Beckham was a consensus top 10 pick. If we had been picking say 13th that year instead of 8th we don't get him.
  3. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) At least Jordan was a serviceable NBA player still, this is like watching Michael Jordon the Baron. Yes. Much better comparison.
  4. Oh my god@Dye. This is like watching Michael Jordan the Wizard.
  5. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Good clutch hitting guys. We're not exactly the Yankees. Those dudes are amazing right now. Literally a different hero every night. Tonight it was Posada. Last night it was Swisher. They've all taken turns. Ain't nobody beating them this year.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) Start meaning when we picked him off the scrap heap not the beginning of the season. Yeah, that's what I meant. And I'm obviously not factoring in defense and base running. Just hitting.
  7. Barton is terrible. I remember him and Joey Votto were supposed to be studs (obviously Votto has held up his end of the bargain).
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Paulie? He's right there. But Pods has basically been doin' it from start to finish. Has he hit a legitimate slump yet? Maybe one at the most.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) Buerhle's had a hell of a year. And Carrasco. I was talking position players.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) I'm really beginning to think Pods is our MVP this year. Other than Beckham, who's even close? I guess you could throw AJ in there.
  11. Pods should be back next year. No matter the risk. There's nothing out there that won't cost a billion bucks that's better than him that we could bring in.
  12. QUOTE (DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Wow how does Pena even make this team next season? He's pretty much s*** the bed in every high leverage situation I'm still gonna give him a full offseason/spring training with Coop before I come to a conclusion. I can't believe he's this bad. If he is, KW is going to have a lot of explaining to do. And it has nothing to do with whether or not we got equal value for Brandon Allen. As we've seen the last couple months, there's a reason relief pitchers are valued the way they are. When you don't have a bullpen, you're not playin' in October. Simple as that.
  13. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) I realize these games really don't matter, as we're all but eliminated, but why would Ozzie use Pena? The guy SUCKS SO f***ING HARD. We don't exactly have the 1990 Reds bullpen. Other than Thornton, and he's been overused, who is Oz supposed to go with?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) Unless something is really hurting him I can't imagine that's the difference. And if something is really hurting him, he should have had a DL trip rather than being an automatic 4 outs per game. I don't really think that's it either. And it's hard to imagine JD would be hiding an injury that's bothering him to this extent. It could be nothing. Could be just a case of a 36-year old that's finally started to hit the decline phase.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) It'd be tough to bring him back if this is the new Jermaine. Makes you wonder if he were free to just hit and not worry about playing the field would that make a difference. But it's pretty clear we're trying to get away from DH only guys.
  16. Hurts to see Dye struggling like this. I believe he's hitting .175 since the break. If this is his last year with the Sox, it'd be really sad to see him go out like this.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Unless Greinke has a couple of 10 ER outings, anyone winning the award other than him at this point is a joke. I'm not a big Sabermetrics guy (although I've warmed up to them quite a bit in the last year or so), but you hope this is when all these 'new' stats and ways of evaluating players makes an impact. 30 years ago Greinke probably doesn't have a chance. Because of the W total and the fact he pitches for one of the worst organizations in pro sports. But when you look beyond wins and even ERA (Kalapse's post above is a good example), it's Greinke's award to lose without much hesitation or thought.
  18. Finally! The league is now full. Alright, so what are we doin' as far as day/time of the draft goes? The weekend is terrible for me. I was hoping to get it in before Thursday night's game. Are people opposed to an afternoon draft? Maybe tomorrow? Or on Thursday?
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Can it be switched to Thurs, Fri or Sat? The first game is on Thursday, though. Anyway, let's fill the league first and then we can talk about dates. This is giving me a headache. I didn't expect to have to be a recruiter. lol. I've never had this much trouble filling a 10-team league before. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) I'll fill it but I generally never check my ESPN leagues. Thanks but no thanks. We want active owners.
  20. Sorry, guys. Not much I can do, We can't draft until we fill the league. I've been askin' around for over a week (like 20 people) and I was only able to get 2 to join. Unless you want to go with 8 teams? Every team is gonna be stacked, though. Won't feel right.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 04:35 PM) How many times are you going to blame Rios for the White Sox failing to win this division? It's quite like a broken record... I'll be the first to admit that Rios has sucked, but he certainly hasn't been alone out there. I'm a little more disturbed by the fact that greg has mentioned on several occasions how "good" Rios looks in a uniform. lol.
  22. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) I think the espn league that drafts tonight needs a couple of guys? I changed it to Wednesday for the same time. If I can get this thing full in the next hour or so I'll change it back for tonight. I sent out some PMs to guys I think would be interested in joining. So will see what happens.
  23. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Ill do an espn league if another is needed. Pm me What's up, man. Yeah, we need two more people. Just send me your e-mail addy and I'll send you an invite.
  24. If Gavin had been just average the first 6 weeks of the season or so he'd be a top 5 CY candidate. Not saying he would win it. But he'd definitely be worthy of some attention.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) you knew he wasn't a good football coach, he's just a hell of a recruiter. And even that's up for debate. The last good class was the Benn/Wilson/McCray haul (Wilson has not come close to recognizing his talent. And McCray was obviously a bust). I've got nothing to say. Absolutely pathetic performance against a s***ty Missouri team (and when I say s***ty I mean this obviously isn't the same caliber team of the past couple years). Blaine Gabbert? Give me a f***ing break. We haven't had anything remotely close to a solid running game since Mendenhall left. And when you have an erratic QB like Juice, you'll never have a consistent offense.
