Word up@Jenksy cat. I didn't want to quote all your posts. So let's just say I agree with all of what you're saying.

SN: Peavy To Make Sox Debut on Saturday
I can't wait. Him pitching means nothing in the sense that it's going to get us any closer to a division title this year. That ship sailed about a month ago. But it'll be good just to get a look at him for hopefully 2-3 starts just to be sure he's healthy and there's no lingering effects from the earlier problems he had.

Freddy Garcia Piece
Nice find@dbaho. And I would absolutely bring Freddy back for a measly million bucks next year. I think he's shown enough in 6 starts (not to mention we arguably don't win the division last year if Freddy doesn't have to leave the Detroit game prematurely because of injury) against some premium lineups that warrants the risk. Give me league average ERA/WHIP, something I think Freddy can easily accomplish if healthy, out of the #5 spot for that price and I'm one satisfied Sox fan.

Prince Fielder
Hard to come up with many teams in more need of starting pitching than the Brewers. If I'm Doug Melvin and Kenny comes to me about the availability of PF, I demand John Danks. So in other words, ain't nothing happening here, IMO.

2009 AL Central Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) I believe you, southsider, but if the clause is he has to reach a certain number of at bats, why couldn't the team go to court and in its defense say, 'Yes, your honor, we decided to not play him so we wouldn't have to pay him 18 million next year. We feel that is our right as an organization, that's why we put that in the contract." I just wonder why it would be a no brainer for the player to win over the team. The stats prove he's not worth 18 mill. Huh?

So did Russell get benched? And penalties killing the Raiders once again.

'05 World Series TV ratings
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) Why would casual fans want to watch it? It was a god damn blow out. Except every game was close and could've went either way. We were just on one of those all-time rolls.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 11:59 PM) Both sides of the ball have a ton of talent, especially the DL now, I just don't know if Russell will lead the team to anything positive. Yeah, he's been pretty terrible tonight. But his arm alone makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I hope he eventually puts it all together.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) The Raiders look pretty good. Wait, what? Their defense still sucks (obviously not tonight). But they've got sick potential on offense.

What is getting you through the off-day?
Football. That's it. Baseball is my favorite sport. But there's just something about football. I've never been able to explain it. I taped the Bears game last night and I've already watched it twice. I've already started the countdown until we get anal raped by the Steelers.

9/14 Game
God damnit! And I wanted at least 1 minor league title this year! What chokers.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) Jose Contreras, Brad Penny, John Smoltz. You pretty much nailed it with this post. It's not just a coincidence when guys look like replacement players in one league and within a couple weeks all-stars in another. Although I will say the best team in baseball right now is the St. Louis Cardinals.

Justin Morneau done for the rest of the year
Tigers may as well start popping the champagne right now.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) So a day after, I'm actually encouraged as a Bears fan. They lost the TO battle 4-0, wasted 2 challenges on obvious calls, had an idiotic direct snap by the ever reliable Patrick Mannelly, their $15m new LG Frank Omiyale looked terrible, Olsen and Forte had a combined 1 catch, Tinosamoa and Urlacher missed practically the whole game, and they lost by 6 points on a TD with 1:10 left + a 2 point conversion. If it takes all that to beat the Bears by 6 in a tough place to play like Green Bay, I still think the Bears can win 10 games. Meh, I'm never with the 'We played horrible and only lost by whatever' spin job. Bottomline is they lost. The offensive line was pretty terrible for the most part. I can't even come up with the words to describe how terrible Omiyale was (although Allen Barbre was shockingly worse). Orlando pace is toast as a run blocker. Nowhere near as athletic and explosive as he once was (obviously not a surprise at his age). The rest of the line was pretty blah. The blocking overall was pretty bad, including that of Forte/Olsen/Clark. The Packer d was just furious last night. I was very impressed. I know Cutler wasn't nearly as bad as the stats last night suggest (at least two of those picks were not his fault). But the inexperience and lack of talent around him outside of Forte/Olsen is no fluke. I think people really underestimate how good he had it in Denver. I was pleased with the defense for the most part (although it's obviously been severely weakened with Brian's injury). Adewale looked like Bruce Smith in his prime. But that's obviously not gonna happen every week. I still think our secondary sucks. And it was exposed rather easily when we couldn't generate a pass rush. I like your optimism. But I'd be shocked if this team won 10 games. Edit: I forgot to mention that I hate Nathan Vasher. How does a guy go from pro-bowl caliber at 25 to practice squad caliber at 27?

Drew Brees having himself a pretty decent game. Nothing too spectacular. Just decent.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) Adrian Peterson is a god. If Favre is just good, they're the run away favorites in the North, IMO. Peterson as you stated is the messiah. They've got a good O-line, competent WRs, and an outstanding defense.

Well that was indeed a pathetic showing and a total waste of about 2:40 that I can never get back.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) Yea, I think you're correct. He's our Oliver, ...or something worse. Much worse. Darren Oliver has been plenty good in his role this season.
