Ladies and gentlemen of soxtalk, I donot think we truly understands what this man means to our franchize. ever year he takes thwe ball every 6th day and pretty much givez us a chance to win. ever since 2001 this has been the case. we need to fully apperciate this exceptional talent and retire his number or something even though he still playing. i'm not sure if that has ever happened. but it should happen now. maek buehrle, Mikell aka jordan4life gives you a salute!!!

4/18 Games
QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) Hudson with the very nice outing. 6 innings of shutout ball, 4 K's, no walks, and only 3 hits... Kanny won 2-1 as well. Kanny's pitching has been nothing short of outstanding.

2009 AL Central Thread
And Zack Greinke throws a CG shutout (0 walks, 10 K's) against the best offense in baseball IN Texas. I said on opening day that I thought Meche/Greinke might be the best 1-2 combo in the AL Central. It might be the best 1-2 in all of baseball (at least it has been through the first two weeks). Edit: Caulfield beat me to it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) Great game Cards....what a pathetic bullpen. They've got some talented young arms. They're just all inexperienced and incredibly inconsistent.

Sox @ Rays, 6:08, WGN
Last night's loss stings even more now. Anyway, can't get too upset at all with taking two of the first 3 against arguably the best team in the AL in their park. Gavin better bring it tomorrow. He owes us one after that awful performance against the Tigers last time out.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
Just got back from ESPN Zone (spent the whole day there). I won't even mention Rose's performance. No need to. I was most impressed by Noah (and he got all ball on that 'foul' called on Pierce at the end of regulation) and our perimeter D. With KG out, there's no reason the Bulls shouldn't control the paint this series. And that's exactly what Noah did today with his rebounding/shotblocking. When you can hold Pierce/Allen to 9/33 shooting, your perimeter D is getting the job done.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) Its one thing for someone to suck in AAA, its another when they don't hit when they are a rookie with a defending champion and after that not hitting while playing extremely infrequently. There is no double standard. I see. So we're still at blaming BA's failures offensively on infrequent at-bats? Well maybe if he didn't struggle to hit his weight he'd get more frequent at-bats? And it's no mystery to why he's so bad with the bat. He's got a horrific swing that really hasn't improved much if at all since 2006.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Brian Anderson gets bashed if he makes an out his first AB and actually gets close to having a game blamed on him when the team lost 9-0 and he whiffed with guys on second and third with one out in the fifth inning. Never mind Carlos Quentin struck out with a guy on 3rd and one out in the first. The bashing is beyond ridiculous. Its worse than the Uribe bashing. BA will shut everyone up however in due time. No, BA gets bashed because he's flat sucked with the bat. That's all we've seen from him. That's all we know. You've come to the conclusion that Marquez sucks because of last year and 5 innings this year. See where the double standard comes in? And I hope you're right. I still consider myself a BA fan (although I've soured on him considerably since 2006).

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) I'm sure you're open to the possibility of a Mike MacDougal turnaround. He's got a 3.56 WHIP in his first 2 starts. He was horrid last season. Marquez blows. Fine. But when somebody bashes Brian Anderson make sure you recognize they're bashing him because he's completely sucked (except defensively) his entire ML career.

QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) Walked 'a batter an inning', eh? Why use averages to make it look bigger than it is? He's walked FIVE PEOPLE... period. Marquez could very well turn out to be a dud. But I agree. To base anything off of 5 innings or so is ridiculous.

Are We Looking to Trade for a CF'er?
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) You know, I'm just tired of former White Sox players returning, or being rumored to return. I don't care if Rowand is had for practically nothing, I'm just sick of these discussions. "(Insert former player) would look good, here. " " How about (Insert former player)?" "I would have (insert former player) if for cheap." If you've experienced any sort of success with the White Sox recently, it's almost inevitable you'll be rumored at some point to return. Move on, White Sox. It's like the asshole who continues dating ex-girlfriends. They're out of your life, move on. So I guess you'd be just as annoyed if Carlos Lee was rumored to return? If they can help the team, who cares if they're former White Sox players? Rowand for practically nothing would bother you? It sure as hell wouldn't bother me. Especially considering what the current alternatives are.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) I am too, to be honest. I would love to see that matchup. As am I. And I'm nowhere near into the NBA as I used to be. But it's never a good thing when you can basically call the finals with 99.9% certainty.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
This is shaping up to be the least competitive playoffs ever. The Lakers can basically sleepwalk to the finals. And with it looking like Garnett will be out, the Cavs can do the same thing. Kobe vs Lebron in the finals. You know Stern and co are busting leaks in their shorts with this almost certain happening.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) I thought the Mariners would be good this year, never though they would look this good, this fast. I thought they could surprise. They have probably the best defensive club in the majors (or at least the best defensive outfield).

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Ian Kinsler is amazing. 6-6 while hitting with for cycle. That offense is devastating. I love the way they're using Andruw Jones. And it looks like Nelson Cruz has finally figured things out. Just imagine the offensive numbers Texas will be putting up during the summer months, especially in their ballpark.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Win a home game against a f***ing lottery team and you don't gotta worry about this. Dumbasses. Shades of 2007 when they were a win away against an average Nets (although they're like 1-58 in NJ since the dynasty ended) team from a #2 seed and a free pass to the conference finals. Boston in 5.

If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) Why don't we stop sucking off that 2005 team? I can only speak for myself, but I'll suck that team off until the day I die. Does another 9 decades have to go by before some can truly appreciate how extraterrestrial that year was? We're not the Yankees or Red Sox or Lakers or Steelers or Red Wings. Going by our history, there's a good chance no currently living White Sox fan will ever again feel the unequaled joy that came from witnessing the team you put your heart, sweat, blood, tears, soul, ect into hold that trophy. Ask any Cub fan (the non-retarded ones) what they'd give for that one magical moment. Yes, I realize that arguing Fields should give up his number for Pods should he get called up is complete nonsense. I'm more or less referring to those that consistently bash those who probably do overrate players from that team. My point is that when you really think about it, it's understandable. 2005FOUREVA!

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) Thats not as horrible as all of Time Legler's collective picks. Lebron for DPOY would be the biggest joke in NBA history. Wow, the guy makes some athletic blindside/chase-down block, give him a f***ing award. He's not a DPOY candidate (that's Dwight Howard's award to lose). But Lebron has improved immensely from a defensive standpoint. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he made the all-defensive first team.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) I think so. What I want to know---why the hell did the Reds pass on Beckham for another lefty 1B, in Alonso? They have Votto and Bruce for lefty power. I'm not saying Alonso is going to be a bust, but wow I think they blew it. So, thank you, Reds. You know, that's a pretty damn good question. I never even thought about it like that.

4/13 Games
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) A few respectable performances easy to overlook in the Charlotte game... - Carlos Torres: 5 innings pitched; gave up 2 runs on 6 hits; struck out 7 and walked only 1. - Jimmy Gobble pitched 1 inning striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. - Jon Link pitched 1.1 innings and gave up 0 runs on 1 hit. Yeah, I was listening to the feed. Torres pitched very well. Unfortunately, Norfolk had one of the top 5 pitching prospects in the minors going tonight (and our offense sucks ass regardless). Sounded like he was pretty dominant, although he only went 4 innings.
