Where is the nightly we suck after we lost thread?
I don't know what was worse. The walkathon display by our pitchers or the Mandingo-sized hard-on Hawk has for Mike Jacobs.

I think we should bring up Beckham immediately
QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) once again...2 words: Derrick Rose. maybe we shoulda put him in some minors.. how the heckel you know somebody isnt a superstar in the makings? like MLB pitchers are so overpowering...what are you all afraid of? he is going to botch groundballs? we already do that... maybe NEVER be clutch or go in slumps? we already do that... SOMEBODY PLEASE BACK UP WHY HE ISNT READY YET. GIVE SOME CONCRETE REASONS! Absolutely terrible comparison. I dare you to name 2 guys in the last 15 years to play less than 40 games in the minors that got called up and had an immediate impact.

5/5 Game Thread ➔ Sox @ Royals
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) 15 Lance Broadway Texas Christian U RHP R/R 6'4" 190 1983-08-20 4YR 56K | 350K COMMENT: Slender frame. Trim look. Rounded shoulders. Similar to Justin Duchscherer. Aggressive w/ FB, occasional avg velocity, control both sides of plate. Spiked CB, 12-6 break. Uses natural 3/4 CB as off speed. Command of both pitches. Fields position well. Players taken after him: Devine, Ellsbury, Garza, Rasmus, Volstad 29 Kyle McCulloch U Texas Austin RHP R/R 6'3" 185 1985-03-20 4YR 350K Comments: Became Texas' Friday starter last year and helped it win the national championship by going 12-4. He started slowly in 2006, but finished strong. He has been able to get the fastball up to the low-to-mid 90s to go along with a plus breaking ball, but it's his knowledge of pitching that really makes him intriguing. Players taken after him: Joba, Chris Perez, Cardenas Looks pretty s***ty In hindsight eh? His stuff flat out sucks. I realize that drafting players is inexact and all. But god damn. Epic fail there. Broadway is the kinda guy you draft in the 10th round. Not the first.

I think we should bring up Beckham immediately
QUOTE (whitesox32 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) I think this would hopefully jumpstart an inconsistent offense and moving lexei to center could solve our center field issue as well and hopefully the change will effect his hitting in a positive way too. I mean if we jump ahead a years time this is still going to be the same issue unless something changes. Alexei is still going to be at short, getz or nix could still be at second. someone is going to have to move eventually to make room for beckham. Indians just brought up laporta and he doesn't have much experience either, I'm a firm believer in the best player should play regardless of age. Again, what are you basing this on? Alexi hasn't even shown to be capable of playing an above average SS. So moving him to the most demanding OF position is supposed to accomplish something? And Beckham isn't exactly tearing up AA right now (and his D appears to need quite a bit of work). Our offense is what it is. We see this every year. Our best bet is to hope the pitching can hold it down until the summer months get here and the balls start flying out of the park.

5/5 Game Thread ➔ Sox @ Royals
I've seen enough of Lance Broadway to last a lifetime. I certainly don't have the trained eye of a pro scout, but what the hell could anybody have seen in this guy to take him with your one and only first-round pick? It's going to take a while to undo the damage that wasting back-to-back first-round picks on him and McCulloch have done to our farm.

I think we should bring up Beckham immediately
QUOTE (whitesox32 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) Alright we've had this discussion a million times, but right now it really is not a discussion. I feel like I'm watching a minor league team right now. Can anyone honestly tell me Brent Lillibridge is better than Beckham? Move Alexei to center and put Becks at short. I think he can have the same impact Longoria did for the Rays last year. SUCK IT UP OZZIE AND BRING UP BECKHAM! Bringing Beckham up right now would solve absolutely none of the many issues this team has. And I'm gonna barf the next time somebody says we should move Alexi to CF.

Best Defensive CF since Rowand?
QUOTE (Felix @ May 2, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) You do realize this thread says best defensive CF, not most dreamy CF... right? I honestly have no idea how anyone can say Griffey was a better defensive CF than Swisher (or some of these other options, for that matter) unless they were blind or stuck in the mid/late 90's. I couldn't agree more. Griffey was putrid in CF (outside of the great throw he made in the play-in game) last year. I kinda agree with Kalapse, though. I don't have any stats/metrics to back up his claim. But using just my eyes, I thought LT was solid in CF.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
Just wanted to say that no matter what happens tonight that this has been a truly, truly special series. My interest in the NBA (outside of the Bulls) has been waning for a while now. This series is a reminder of how great the NBA can truly be at times. With that said, GO f***ING BULLS!

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) I dunno, those 90s series against NY every year were pretty epic. Indeed they were. But we've seen history in this series. 4 OT's with one going double OT and tonight's game going triple OT? Guys from both teams continuously stepping up and hitting big shot after big shot after big shot. No adjectives left to describe what we've witnessed so far.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
Oh, and John Paxson bought himself at least another 3 years (not that Reinsdorf would ever fire him) for turning Nocioni and Gooden into Miller and Salmons. I believe Jalen Rose used the words "Fleeced," "Hoodwinked," and "Bamboozled" to describe the trade. I've got two words to describe it: BRUTAL RAPE!

I've seen enough! BEST.SERIES.EVER! Nothing will ever top Michael, Scottie and the gang conquering the basketball world 6 times in 8 years. But for one series, and only one series, this one is as good as I've ever witnessed.

2009 AL Central Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) I know it is, I want to be their friend as well. But I have Dish, Dish doesn't have MLB Network. I'm stuck w/ ESPN for my baseball analysis. Hence the lack of BBTN, I only caught that piece because The Ultimate Fighter was on commercial. I feel for you. The MLB Network is the best thing (in a baseball sense) to come along in a while.

4/30 Games
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Here goes Dan Hudson...4 k's in 2 innings. What's up with the Sally League? Is it good pitching or bad hitting? I mean, when Ken Williams Jr is your third best hitter with a .245 average... LOL. I asked the same question about a week ago. I'd love to think all of our starters are just that good right now. But this is getting crazy. I hope it's not too long before guys like Infante, Carter and Hudson move up to High A.

2009 Cubs thread
That's basically all he's done for about five years. And people are starting to complain now? Other than assf***ing the Pirates way back in 2003 and the Lee/Choi trade that following off-season, Hendry has proven to be inept as far creativity and maneuvering goes.

The Nolan Ryan Debate Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 12:43 AM) I caught some of BBTN. Coco Crisp says Grienke is the best pitcher he's ever played behind. Others say he's a good as a young Nolan Ryan. Can we make it to June before we start throwing these type of quotes around? Just stay away from all things ESPN when it comes to baseball. MLB Network is your friend.

4/28 Games
Pretty impressive debut last night by Clevelan Santeliz (IP 1.1, H 0, R 0, BB 0, K 4). BA had him as a big-time sleeper before the season started.

Bulls To Let Ben Gordon Go?
QUOTE (Ron @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 01:22 AM) It's the matchup. No different than when we swept Miami when they were the defending champs. Just like in that series, we're younger & more athletic than their aging stars and we're exploiting that advantage. And let's just pretend that Kevin Garnett guy being out is no real factor.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 03:10 AM) Mel Kipers opinion is pretty much worthless. Hes never worked for the NFL as an actual scout, he is just some guy that does his own research and makes his own predictions. In case you haven't noticed by now, he trashes all picks that don't fall in line with his ratings and loves all of the picks that are right by him or are taken after he slotted them.. I now understand why some of you prefer the NFLN coverage better, it was way better. I like actually hearing about the guys who get drafted instead of watching Erin Andrews interview Quan Cosby with Bill Cosby cracking wise in the background. Um, OK? Who said he was a scout? I said that I think he's a great FOOTBALL ANALYST. And I already said that he can come off as an arrogant cock at times. But over the years, he's been right a lot more than he's been wrong on most of his observations.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
Anybody notice that the Red Sox are emphatically debunking the myth that you can't have a contending ML team while maintaining a productive farm system at the same time? Since 2005, their farm has produced Papelbon, Ramirez (who they turned into Beckett), Lester, Buchholz, Pedroia, Youkilis, Ellsbury, Delcarmen and Lowrie. Lowrie goes down a couple weeks ago and they insert Nick Green, who at his age doesn't qualify as a true prospect, but is putting up a line so far of .302/.375/.488/.863. Daisuke Matsuzaka, who's overrated as hell, but still a big part of their rotation, goes down and all they do is insert Justin Masterson, who in 6 games (the last two as a starter) is sporting a 2.70 ERA. They just called up Michael Bowden (who's ranked #83 on BA's top 100 prospects list) for one day, I guess. And he looked f***in' awesome in two innings against NY last night. It won't be long before he's back up to stay. I don't even know who the hell Hunter Jones is. But he looked good as well. They've got Lars Anderson, who's ranked the 17th best prospect by BA, waiting in the wings. Daniel Bard, who's ranked the 98th best prospect by BA, is putting up filthy numbers at AAA right now. That just gives them more quality depth pitching wise. Say what you will about the Red Sox and their fans (who I despise), but that organization has got it's s*** together. They've blown right by the Yankees as the premier franchise in baseball.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) If nothing else...we got them to 6 games. That was one of my goals. We're not being shown up or embarrassed. Well, except for our coaching. And 3 down to the last second/1/2 OT games...well, at least it's decent experience for the youngin's. You're easy to please. The Celtics would already be preparing for Philly/Orlando if their entire front-court didn't, like, die.

Bulls To Let Ben Gordon Go?
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) With the screening, yes. Also, just to note, Ben was not in either possession when Ray tied the game and neither was he in when Allen hit the game winner in Game 2. Game 3, Ray Allen started poor and obtained most of his points in garbage moments. Yeah, no. Again, look at the stats. The SG position has the lowest PER Against on the team by a wide margin. Also the PER Differential is by far best on this squad. Gordon is not only played pretty good defense throughout the season, he also is consistently outperforming the guy he is defending. Now, there are nights where other guys have burned him. With that said, the only guy who has consistently lit him up has been Kobe Bryant. I suggest you take some of your own advice. Let me f*** you up with some truth first. PER: 17.6 PER AGAINST: 15.0(average right on the dot) That's a plus 2.6 which is 2.0 better than the next guy which is at the SF position. At that position PER: 15.6 PER Against: 15.0 So while the defense Salmons has brought us there has been great, he really hasn't produced a great amount like some people tend to believe. Rose is right behind Gordon in terms of efficiency on the offensive end PER: 17.4 But sucks defensively: PER Against: 17.0 http://www.82games.com/0809/0809CHI5.HTM So not only do I see it, the coaches have applauded his improvement in defense, and the statisticians see it as well. Only people who don't are those from Soxtalk for some reason. Let it go, man. The Ben Gordon hate around here is borderline deplorable. You've got Derrick Rose getting butt-f***ed by Rajon Rondo this series and it always seems to come back to what Ben Gordon can't do. I know what Ben Gordon can do...And that's score the motherf***in' rock. Dude comes up clutch Jordan style not once, but twice! And he's hit big shots like that his entire career.
